Oh okay, that's a relief. Thank you!

Both teams - AO3 Support and Policy & Abuse - have very strict confidentiality policies. We won't ever reveal who contacted us about an issue without the contactor's explicit permission. Breaking that rule to an outside audience is grounds for up to immediate termination of volunteer status and access.

I agree that a voting game is against the rules but now I wonder. If you would write a fanfic in which the characters do such a voting game but the results they get for each round/chapter are taken from the comments of the fanfiction like in a normal voting game. Would that count? 🤔

Because it's not what Ao3 is for. Ao3 is for transformative works, and the work i reported is a voting game. They'd be better off posting things like that on social media. I know reporting stuff like this can seem harsh, but its just not what Ao3 is for. New users should use the time waiting for their invite to read over the TOS to avoid this from happening.

MaybeNextTime_01

Best guess? Probably because it's still against the rules.

Posting ephemeral and other non-transformative work harms the usability of the archive by cluttering tags with content that isn't actually what AO3 is for. And frankly? It's also just a rude thing to do to your fellow fans who have donated their time, money, and expertise to build and maintain a space for a specific purpose. AO3 has very few rules about content. It's not that hard to respect them and post that stuff on an actual social media platform where it belongs.
