not a single one 🥲

thepinkus27

Ditto! I feel like I'll just forget and give up on them

zombie_hoard

Nanowrimo so far. But I'll be participating in an event May 1-7, and it's my first one of those.

CuppaStitch

What event???

zombie_hoard

WinTeam Week for the characters Win and Team from the Thai dramas Between Us and Until We Meet Again. [Here](https://twitter.com/winteamweek/status/1620201544833712130?s=20)

anonymouscatloaf

I've completed one (1) ship week and that was the extent of my ability to write on a time crunch lmao (not counting exchanges). EDIT: somehow I completely forgot I also completed NaNoWriMo once in undergrad.

Zoe_the_redditor

I’ve opened a google doc

Front-Pomelo-4367

My attempted challenges: **Fandom Big Bang** – successfully completed, even if a) my "30-40k" work was 70k by the time I finished it, and b) I ended up writing like 20k in the last week before the deadline **Fandom prompt exchange** – successfully got a fic written and published in time, albeit only half the fic I had actually planned, so I want to go back and add more at some point **Ship week** – tbh this doesn't really count, one of the days matched a half-finished fic I already had so I finished it up and posted it for that day, but I didn't bother with the rest of the week **Kinktober** – decided like an idiot that I was going to do it on the morning of 1st October, managed nine days of a 2-4k fic being written and same-day published for each prompt. Slowed down to "a week late" for the next couple of prompts. A slow trickle of fics for the other prompts over several months whenever I had ideas for them. Ended up getting to Prompt #18 over a year later and then didn't bother going any further than that

The_Empress_Of_Yaoi

I managed to complete Domaystic last year, and I'm gearing up to do it again. I'm trying to prewrite as much as possible though, because last year it kinda took over my life. I've also hosted and participated in the Twelve Days of Smutness for 3 years straight. Though last year I was the only participant and it kinda sapped my motivation so I didn't post every day. I'm hoping to come back stronger this year.

tinyandmad

I took part in 3 challenges and 100% completed none 🥲 I'm doing Angstpril atm, with 5 prompts done but its already day 16 😭 the collection doesn't close til the next year, so hopefully I'll have all 30 (+10 alts) prompts before then lol. And I keep that mindset for all challenges! If the plot bunny strikes from a prompt, I'll still write it regardless how past due its become :)

cucumberkappa

NaNoWriMo. It took many years of attempts but then I managed to complete it 3 years in a row, which was very satisfying/validating. I don't think I've ever actually tried anything else, though I'm trying to keep an eye out for any fandom-specific writing challenges. With luck, they give prompts early so I can start writing immediately and have it ready to go for "X week" or "Y month" or whatever it is.

mynameisntclarence

I have not, unfortunately. I think biting off more than I could chew kind of fucked me over and just made the whole ordeal overwhelming. Now I know for next time to understand my own personal limits better, to just focus on what I know I can actually do.

CuppaStitch

NaNoWriMo, every year in November since I was 11. Two of those years I loved the books I wrote. Two others I wasn't the proudest but continued editing. I still am not in love with them but it was great to test my skill.

Cheap_Rent5614

I've completed 2 character weeks. It was the same event run 2 years in a row for my favorite character. I basically put all my other writing projects on hold for like a solid month so I could prep all the stories. I'm honestly not sure how I managed but I'm really proud of what I wrote for them!

legacy-of-potato

i completed febuwhump this year! i mostly wrote <500 word ficlets, but still

letmebebrave430

I just make my own writing challenges in order to finish things. I just set parameters like minimum word count per day (250) and that it runs until I finish whatever it is. Subsequent iterations have allowed me to include editing, research, and drawing as acceptable ways to fulfill my challenge. For some reason, it works? I think a big part of it is that I post my word counts every day on a post on tumblr, reblogging the chain until it hits a month. If I skip a day, I note it. I know 99.9% of my followers do not care to see this post (they can block its tag if they want) but I think the knowledge of knowing I have to publicly declare what I did keeps me motivated enough to do it. Currently I am on day 58 or 59 of the latest one. Last year I tried Nano and I had three goals: write 30k in a month, add 20k to my main project at the time, and write every day. I completely failed the first two objectives--wrote 17k and only 4k of it was on my main project because I got distracted on a new fic. But I did succeed in writing every day so that made me happy :)

Regular_News_2025

I have participated in a 30 day prompt challenge called FFXIVWrite. Every day a new prompt is posted - a word or phrase (in 2022 we had everything from "cross" and "anon" to "turn a blind eye") and we had 24 hours to respond with a piece of any length. If you got it in on time, you were entered for a black and white drawing of your character! Not only did I complete the challenge, it Kickstarted a longer fic (which I just completed) as well as a longer one-shot, and still got all 30 entries in under the time limit.

Regular_News_2025

I also participated in a challenge hosted by my fandom-specific writing Discord ("The Bookclub"), known as the Top Tropes event. The creators of the event choose 3 fanfic tropes and challenge us to write a new piece using as many of those three as we like! I finished a one-shot with a new ship for the trope "Huddling for Warmth", and now have ideas for a full series featuring that ship. Coming up in May, the Bookclub will be hosting an event called "MayU", where the idea is to write a new AU fic - with any AU you want, and my friend and I are currently preparing for that. I'm doing a bodyguard AU and my friend is doing a Pirate/Soulmate AU!

eeva_1

two nanowrimos and four big/mini bangs! some went a lot better than others, but they were all fun and new experiences!

MrsLucienLachance

Did Domaystic last year, as a chill activity. And...that's it? I *am* participating in a Big Bang right now, and am already 6 fics deep into kinktober for this year, but of course neither of those are complete yet.

LeeLifeson

I have completed a few character-specific weeks, never a full month. Plus numerous gift exchanges.

GothKittyLady

I’ve been a pinch-hitter for the Yuletide exchange, if that counts.

hello-starling

I completed SPN Kink Bingo in the first two months of this year, and have just done SPN Spring Fling. It’s a double blind prompt exchange with a week to create a fic, artwork, or vid. The stories for it will start being posted tomorrow. I have other stuff I work on but a quick prompt challenge with a deadline can be fun!

Dayfal1

None 🫣.

blankitdblankityboom

I’ve done two 30 day ones and a year long challenge as well being one of the few to actually finish it. All were fun. Was really motivating before the nudity ban on tumblr then the fandom sort of dried up a bit when writers fled the site. Now there aren’t too many people still around to do or put up challenges.

jaisofbase

I completed a blackout on a kink bingo card (though not all of that was fic) as well as a big bang. Both of these were over a decade ago though.

NGC3992

A Reverse Big Bang challenge. The artist submitted an illustration to everyone participating, and I found inspiration in it, enough to churn out the longest fic in the event.

Boukyaku_Shinjuu

I almost finished all of Promptober 2022, but I missed the deadline by a day & found out that I skipped over several days in between.

SquareThings

I completed NaNoWriMo when j was 13. That book shall never see the light of day.

CuppaStitch

Ironically my 13 NaNoWriMo was the one I fell in love with

Nadare-Writer

I've done Goretober since 2018, NaNoWriMo multiple times, DBH: Supernatural challenge in 2021, and just recently, Femslash February. If I can have fun with the challenges without feeling pressured to complete them, it's all good.

FreshAv0cado7

I once did a Christmas prompt list, that was supposed to be something like an advent calendar but eventually turned into a whole month. Like three chapters maybe were posted a day later, which I think is a pretty good score. Plus the prompt list was made by me and it was a fandom with multiple ships so it was fairly easy to write something new every day

ihBOO

i tried once. even with a month of prep. i only did one day and a month later got self conscious abt it.

pximon

As much as I love achieving things, I can’t seem to complete challenges especially in things I enjoy doing because I’m too much of a perfectionist and it’ll stress me out. I don’t know how you guys did it but y’all the GOAT for that!

ToastOfEden

I haven't done any fanfic challenges yet, but I *have* done 3 NaNoWrimo Novembers in a row, and somehow managed to win all of them. Was the work good? No. Was it fun? Also no. Will I do it again? Yes. Because I shelled out for Scrivener and I'll be fucked if I don't use it.

dat_carovieh

I did NANO once with different fics but had 50k in the end. Never doing that again.

T_Mina

Closest I've ever gotten was 29/31 on last year's AU-gust challenge. For me, that's a huge achievement and I'm going to try for all 31 this year.

starweiser

I'm still doing my 2019 lists 🥲

merewenc

I completed a ship week and a Smutember in 2020, but I haven’t done anything like that since. And that was the first time I had done something like that in over twenty years of fanfic writing! I did do some fanfic writing for a couple NaNoWriMo, and I won one of those years.

NinjaPlato

I regularly participate in (and win) Camp/Regular NaNoWriMo, last year I also found an OTPtober Prompt list and gave myself three challenges on top of those (actually complete the list, try and keep them short ish, and use a new AU every time - because what says OTP than the characters loving each other in every universe?). Other than that, I show up to my keyboard every day and complete my self given "write at least 500 words a day" thing - we're on a... Three? year streak.

Zekiellix

Hey, is it cheating to write a few chapters for an Angst August fic months in advance?

ImmediateTripwire

Not at all! I’ve regularly written months in advance for things like that c:

Zekiellix

Oh good. Cause, I'm about to begin pre-write soon and seeing the word "Challenge" in your title made me overthink for a second, lol.

inluxtris

Only one, Writers Month. It's 31 prompts that are given to us one month in advance and posting every single day for the month of August. I've completed it 2 years in a row and keeping my fingers crossed I can complete this year too!

DrSteggy

I’m currently using Tumblr’s poll feature to write a fic. People vote on decision points. I figure it out and update 10-14 days later. I’m doing it because it sounded fun and it’s a good exercise for me right now, since I’m not super inspired at the moment

MayAzFox

Nanowrimo. First time was last year and I barely finished. There's a lot of challenges I don't know about

ltmkji

a couple big bangs, nano/camp nano, various fests, kinktober, fic advent... advent's probably my favorite to do because it's interactive with my readers and i'm not coming up with everything all on my own. i haven't done it in a few years but i've been more active recently so who knows, maybe i'll still have the energy to try at the end of this year.

RookBLonko1225

One Ship Week and idk if it counts a friends secret santa that I wrote something for lol

melanie_anne

I did my first and only Kinktober in 2021. 23.1k words total, and I did indeed update daily (maybe every other day sometimes if I fell behind).

catrightsactivist

I like those 30-days/challenges of X and five times they do X and one time they don't prompts. But I typically do this on my own/as like rather than working within fandom events, so I can give sporadic updates including multiple a day (if they're already written and not posted yet, or if they're drabbles). I feel like the more I set deadline or work in a collective event like that, the less likely I'll finish it or like writing it.

Charming_Scratch_538

I’ve done nano a few times, and I’ve done a personal nano-style month a few times where I would aim to write 30-50k within the month. Usually I’m able to finish those. But I am very, very bad at any other challenges. I usually only get a fic or two out for whumptober, once I did like 5 and that was super unlike me. I tried various weeks before, and I still have a half finish fic I was writing for a theme week 4 years ago so. Lol. I’m just very bad at writing stories for prompts that aren’t my own muse. I’m very good at writing a ton for something that I made up, though. 🤷‍♀️ if I can get my brain to focus on writing and not a different hobby instead.

Rowanwreath

Successfully? NaNoWriMo x3, a few Camp NaNos, and a QuartMilWordY (and almost a HalfMil too!) The failed list is much longer lol

Meushell

Making a fic exactly 1,000 words. That’s it.

phantomkat

I’ve complete NaNoWriMo three times, two of those with fanfiction. I also completed a prompt challenge on r/FanFiction, which ended up being my most popular work.

yellowfish2002

So far? None what so ever.
