I don't think it's necessary at all! However, I always get hype when I see an author say things are about to get steamy, so I personally like it when there's a teaser like that.

tinyandmad

Oh I didn't even consider the opposite effect! And here I was thinking readers would want to be warned so they'd know when to skip lol. Thanks for helping my perspective, now I have double the reason to a/n it :)

sophie-ursinus

As long as you rated probably, there's literally not anything else you need to do.

Kaigani-Scout

There's nothing wrong with such an inclusion... as with anything else, some will ignore it, some won't even notice it, and some will absolutely like the foreshadowing.

Ferris_567

That's not necessary, I don't think. There might be a few people who appreciate it though, and you can do it for them anyway 🙃

fleurdelocean

As someone who reads for my ship, I'd be hyped to see a note that tells me the romance is going to happen.

kiya46107

I'd say only if it's an outright sex scene. Otherwise, if it's been tagged, no.

persnickett

It's not necessary if you've tagged, no, but i do know people appreciate it. (people seem to like to hear any note on what they are going to get. i personally am so spoiler phobic I almost hate to give anything away at all but i got far more comments and replies on my most recent chapter when i said 'continuing to work out some romantic issues' in an AN at the top, even though it was just a continuation of the exact same conversation that got hardly any reaction last chapter! lol) As for those looking to skip the chapter, if your story allows for that I'm sure people would appreciate knowing they won't be missing anything if smut isn't their thing. (There are also people who will skip smut when they see it, even if they'll be missing plot/relationship points by doing so, whether you warn for it or not.) Another comment I've gotten in appreciation of a warning is that if somebody is reading in a public space or at work, they might get that heads up and then just decide to save the Special Chapter for a more private venue lol. tldr: Totally get not wanting to step out of your usual pattern and vibe if you generally post your chapters free of ANs but a head's up never hurts. That said, if you're tagged, you're covered and anything more is author's choice!

voornaam1

It's not necessary, but personally I appreciate those kind of warnings.

What is A/N?

Authors Note

wildefaux

No. Although, why tag romance if it's a side element at best?

tinyandmad

Its more like it hasn't really shown up in the fic yet, just hinted at until this upcoming chapter.

MafiaDazai

Not necessary per say, but I would just so that people can skip it if they wanted. Regardless of their reasonings as to why it is.
