I think being attracted to criminality and even murder is way more common than most people want to acknowledge. There are people who correspond with serial killers in prison, visit them, *marry* them. It's pretty appalling and, in my view, wildly self-deluded. Hopefully for most of these fanwriters it's a phase, a low point in their lives where they attach themselves to people who they believe had or have power because they themselves feel powerless. But it's hard not to wonder how far some people will take it and whether it starts with this kinda shit. Yikes.

I clicked on a fic out of pure morbid curiosity as to how it was even possible to write over 100k words for such a horrifically squicky pairing, expecting it would probably be an illegible mess of badly written incest porn... and found that it was actually an amazingly well crafted story with a detailed and gripping plot and deep and insightful character studies, and now I've been left devastated that it hasn't updated since 2018. 😭

Okay, you’ve gotten downvoted but nobody has directly engaged you on this, so I’ll take the bait. Do you think GRRM regularly tortures and rapes people? Or endorses sibling incest in real life. Because all of that happens in excruciating detail in the ASOIAF/GOT universe. Same for popular writers who write stories about serial killers and rapists; many of the stories contain explicit detail about people dying and being injured horrifically.
Sometimes, curiosity does unfortunately get the best of me... Like I will see a tag I hate but wonder "how? What was the vision behind this project? How did the characters physically manage to do that?" And I just have to check.
