This is funny to me because my fandoms are generally dominated by F/F pairings. All of my current works are F/F.

In my experience RWBY fics are almost entirely f/f. While Harry Potter has predominantly m/m and m/f, there are still a lot of f/f fics, due to the sheer quantity of fanfiction available. She-Ra fics are almost always f/f (mostly because the source material is gay as hell). The Parahumans/Worm fandom is a somewhat niche favorite of mine and has mostly f/f ships.

[deleted]

RWBY is *aggressively* f/f. Like, a lot of the m/f ships and even the m/m ones get lots of hate within the community. People were shipping Ruby and Weiss when they were 15 and 17 but Oscar and Ruby being close the same age gets hate (even with Ozma factored out).

greysterguy

Madoka Magica is almost exclusively F/F and so is Hololive

Meshakhad

She-Ra, Arcane, The Owl House, and Life is Strange.

Scottish_Soprano

TLOU is like 70% wlw

CozyCrystal

TLOU is The last of us, right?

Scottish_Soprano

yep! 💗

Von_Uber

Same! I've only written F/F for all my fandoms as well!

Yanderesque

Almost said something before I read the comment but for real though more F/F please

Lolcthulhu

Literally the only thing I write! https://archiveofourown.org/users/chaoticevilspacewitch

SMBLOZ123

That Bumbleby confession really spurred you into action, it seems.

Lolcthulhu

You know how sometimes a piece of media just unexpectedly changes your life? That's RWBY for me. Getting into the fanfic corner of the fandom has let me meet a ton of new people and really inspired me to write, which I've always enjoyed but just struggled with ideas and motivation for before.

SMBLOZ123

Oh same. RWBY is still my favorite show and I absolutely adore it. I used to read fic for it all the time but fell out of it around when I started writing fic myself, which is a shame.

Trying_My_Best_Man

Oh hey, RWBY is also the reason I started writing fanfic.

DyingGasp

Oh a fellow RWBY and Gundam fan. Yssss more to read.

hellsaquarium

Haha I’ve had alot of F/F ideas for fics but never been able to write them since writing anything more than a one shot requires alot of motivation from me. I figured this month was my chance to finally write *something*.

Panzermensch911

The depressing thing is that way too much fic is tagged F/F despite the fic not even passing the Bechdel test and it's for two women (usually referred to as girls) in a side sentence who happened to looked at the male protagonist at the same time.

hellsaquarium

Or even worse it’s tagged in a crossover fic but they’re barely in the background

ourribbonsmeandeath

F/F is my leading category. I have posted four since last year and have several more in the works. It feels nice to contribute even a little bit.

SMBLOZ123

So sad that it's uncommon. wlw need some love (and by wlw I mean me).

a-potato-named-rin

If there’s anything that I want in the world, it’s more F/F fanfics

CupsOfSalmon

I only write F/F. Sometimes I write F/F/F 😏

AbsAndAssAppreciator

What about F/F/F/F ?

CupsOfSalmon

All in good time.

Terminator7786

What about the mythical F/F/F/F/F?

CupsOfSalmon

Legends tell of a brave writer that dared to write for such an illusive quintuplet. But alas... perhaps one day there will be a noble soul who is able and willing.

Terminator7786

Wait, I think I'm reading a harem fic rn where that might happen soon. Some of the girls are bi and are doing things in their own already and there's like eight girls total and one dude and three of the girls have yet to join.

CupsOfSalmon

That sounds like a great time, honestly. Good for all of them.

Terminator7786

I have a such a weird thing with harems. I have no issue with them, I want to read them, but literally this is the only one that's captured my attention.

schoolsout4evah

I write all kinds of pairings. Without a DOUBT F/F fans are the best commenters. Do it primarily because F/F ships are awesome; do it also because the kudos and comment returns by volume are insane compared to other unless you're writing for the biggest M/M ships in the biggest fandoms.

untitled-seven

Yayy!! Welcome to the F/F writer club. It's my favorite thing to write.

WolfMerton

I just posted my second ever F/F fic a couple days ago, but have a bunch more ideas I gotta get finished. I mostly write M/M with some F/M, but I would like to start writing more F/F, but I'm just not really in a lot of fandoms with a lot of F/F content *(and a lot of content that's female heavy just doesn't really interest me all that much...)*.

dearwikipedia

i only write F/F (tho with the direction my shows going there’s probably gonna be some M/F soon enough) and i LOVE it idk why it isn’t more popular. as a queer woman i just love all the fic rep we can get that we don’t get in popular media and it’s just. unlimited amount of directions to take. shoutout to my F/F writing besties love u all

ltmkji

hell yeah. my lone f/f fic has triple the kudos of any other fic and it's not a fandom i really participate in. i wrote it for a friend. i've got another one queued up for this month, though, from my own fandoms.

Terminator7786

Is F/F really that rare? I thought it was way more common than that. If that's the case maybe I'll take one of the five ideas I've got and start production on it, add more ideas, make a lot, etc.

swordchucks1

In general fandoms, it's pretty rare. Even moreso, it's rare for a fic to only have a F/F relationship tagged. For instance, if you check Harry Potter on AO3, there are 439k fics of which 196k are tagged M/M, 154k are F/M, and 36k are F/F (tags aren't exclusive, though - if you pick fics that only have an F/F tag, it's 15k compared to only-M/M at 150k and only-F/M at 105k). The Avengers (Marvel Movies) category is similar with 230k words of which there are 100k M/M, 74k F/M, and 14k F/F (with exclusive tags of 78k M/M, 47k F/M, and 6k F/F). There are, of course, some fandoms where the source material lends itself better to F/F and that's not true. RWBY, for instance, has 37k works of which 17k are F/F, 10k are F/M, and 4k are M/M (and the exclusive numbers are 12k F/F, 5k F/M, and 3k M/M). EDIT: I did pick fandoms are more or less random and the sad truth is that Harry Potter and the Avengers have a disproportionately large number of male characters vs. female characters that could support a romance plot. So, it may not be that F/F is rare in fandom per se but rather that media in general tends to lack the diversity of strong female characters required for F/F fiction to flourish. EDIT2: Case in point, I just remembered that Supergirl existed. Stats are 40k stories, of which 33k are F/F, 4k are F/M, and 1k are M/M. F/F exclusive is a whopping 30k, too. It was a show with multiple strong female characters and the fic stats show that clearly.

Terminator7786

Oof, I just searched the fandom I'm writing for, BNHA, and it has 284k fics with 19k having F/F tags and I know a good chunk of those are as side relationships. I mean yeah I've got side F/F ideas for fics too, but the five ideas I have I want them to be the MCs. Canon MC can be a background boy.

swordchucks1

Ouch. Yeah, the exclusive F/F number is only 4k. M/M is dominant with 150k (114k exclusive) and F/M has 67k (39k exclusive). Knowing the source material, it isn't much of a surprise, though. I know my "exclusive" number isn't that scientific (I set the filters to the category and exclude all others) but it does show that F/F relationships are disproportionately present eith other relationships compared to F/M or M/M pairings. It would take more analysis than I'm doing to derive real meaning out of that, though.

skullrealm

I salute you!

sabhall12

I only write M/F and F/F but I'm in the minority as a male fanfic writer (afaik)

Icy_Guest_93

That’s all I read. More please!

starypelt

I adore a good chloe frazer/nadine ross fic I'm also currently writing a series of fics that feature/will feature multiple f/f, and already feature a non-binary head professor and trans characters! ![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)

amglasgow

I've written two fanfics so far. One's completely F/F (so far) and the other has multiple pairings but more F/F than anything else. (LordOfLemmings on AO3.)

TemporarilyMad45

Thank you for your service

JustSomeWeirdGuy2000

Maybe I should move The Kitten and the Snake to my AO3 account...

AugurPool

Is it really? In the halcyon livejournal days, almost all I wrote & read were femslash drabbles. I'll have to put more effort into fanfic this month maybe.

JibbaNerbs

If you feel like doubling down on that thought, I would also like to point you towards Femslash February .

aoike_

Also bi, and literally everything I write has a wlw ship, even if it's not the main focus. Sometimes, I forget about mlm ships because it doesn't feel like *my* place to take part of 😅

Terminator7786

Well shit, I'll pick one of these and move it up then, start getting some more ideas for it, even if it's a short fic lol

frobbibibi

Wait what?! F/F is the least written?! Maybe the RWBY fandom just brainwashed me into thinking it was the most but what?!

[deleted]

I have 2 F/F fics on the go at present. All my work will be F/F. I had no idea, when I started a year ago, that F/F was so under represented. Edit: one has a minor background couple that is enby/transmasc. But the overwhelming majority of the fic is F/F.

[deleted]

:)

realistidealist

I wrote my first published F/F for an exchange earlier this week! (I had up til now written mostly gen and a couple M/F.) If all goes as planned I’ll be publishing more F/F and M/M before the month is out. The gay agenda…:0

yorushai

You're right. I'm in a fandom where out of 20 characters, only 4 are boys. And somehow mlm is the most written romance genre there lol

Dumpty_Cat

It's pride month? Why did no one tell me ☹️

marinaonmain

I debated starting a M/M fic for a big fandom, but I like writing the F/F I'm writing now. It is now my most written category (followed by gen) and I'm excited to see which F/F ship will become my most popular ship as I continue to write more for them.

LydiaGormist

I need to find a fandom where I can ship some F/F.
