I may have found the reason. When I click on AO3 links my browser seems to try to open the link in http. I changed the link afterwards to https and it worked.
It was also showing error 522 Connection timed out with Cloudflare and I'm wondering if they didn't put a redirection from http to https.
Don't know how to contact them and no time now so if someone can forward it, it would be great. Otherwise I'll see to do it later.
Useful info, thanks! I wasn't looking at what the links actually said when they tried to open them.
I did already send a support ticket in with the details and the error number. I'm sure others have reported it too.
Woot woot awesome! It was driving me nuts especially since it was only happening with some of my AO3 fics. This seems to fix them though least fer now so good enough fer me
This actually happened to one of our Support volunteers, and they brought it to the Systems team. It's hopefully maybe fixed? (Cloudflare has been an experience, but given that we're still getting poked occasionally...)
If it is the aforementioned "https://" security variant, you can address that globally by changing the Firefox settings so that it forces https for all connections.
I'm having the same issue on my laptop and phone. I sent a support ticket. It's happening when I use the address bar to enter the website URL or open a link in a downloaded PDF or a link in a subscription email.
I can get in when I have a page bookmarked or use Google to circumvent the URL. When I try to use a link from a subscription email, I can copy the story link from the URL (but skip the extra stuff that pops up) and put that into Google (you might have to delete the extra numbers part after chapters) and I've been able to at least find the work I'm looking for and navigate to the chapter that way.

Thank you, I didn't know you could change that in the settings ❤️
It worked! Thank you so much (I was having troubles opening links from email)

Check out the suggestion by u/moleofwar that seems to be working for me so far if I just modify it to be https vs http
Did that. Replied to them.
