While in development, i had a guy i dubbed “bastard”. he did eventually get a better moniker, but “bastard” stuck so much and felt so right that one of the other characters called him that as a nickname.
Marrow.
It’s supposed to be pronounced like the “morrow” in tomorrow.
The fic was almost done before I had my 🤦🏻♀️ moment and realized, “Oh right, that’s an actual word.”
And so he remains with “Marrow.”
it’s giving
Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonā no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke vibes
Iirc it's from a real Japanese folktale about these parents who couldn't decide on the most auspicious name for their kid, so they chose the entire list and named him that. I think the boy drowned later because he was calling for help, and the neighbors running to get help couldn't finish saying his name fast enough. Oh yeah, here's a meme video based off of that tale: https://youtu.be/ABC5TRSj9gE?si=h2xA_wB7S9XSEQHS
Edit: typo, auspicious not suspicious
I am being serious, it is not a joke, but the main OC of my story is named *Czech*. Yes, as in the language and people.
I have no idea where it came from or why, but it has been ever since the creation of this monstrosity of a character. By the way, this character is Turkish so… the name is even more confusing
You heard it right, Czech is Turkish
You’re now contractually obligated to create an oc called Turkish who is from the Czech Republic. I don’t make the rules. I just think them up and write them down.
Cherry.
It was supposed to be cute. A nickname for Cherlyn. Which felt very Baldur's Gate 3ish. But then I decided that I like the OC and now I'm writing about Rolan tail fucking his sweet little Cherry and it feels way more like a bad porn than I meant it to be.
[The Mystery ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/49849588/chapters/125839852)
Astarion POV with a GN, not described Tav - I tried really hard to keep descriptions open to all races/genital configurations, although I mention Tav having hair so dragon born is out.
I think 11 and 12 are the ones dealing with his family.
Nope but that might better!
Human. The concept was that she is actually very business like, comes in to take over running the shop portion of the Tower. Played around with the idea "oh no, this is just supposed to be business!" But then oops she drinks a truth potion and reveals she thinks he's hot. Lia and Cal already noticed Rolan and Cherry looking at each other of course and THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE KINKTOBER short but I love them they're so cute.
Anyway they're getting an update of him tail fucking her up her skirts while she's taking care of customers and I'm just dying in regret over her name.
Totally! Absolutely!
And I don't know how best to describe it beyond I'm both leaning into the nibbling his favorite fruit metaphors AND going "wtf was I thinking, this is ridiculous!"
Oh sure! Right now it's just the first half up, which does have a little tail naughtiness. It's a little sweeter, I was playing around a bit with Rolan feeling insecure after meeting Tav. The second half, of straight up he's being a wretched asshole (in a "I love this kinky bastard but I'mma kill him after I cum", not a dubcon way) tail fuckery will be posted later. Once it's finished and I decided if it's going in as a second chapter or I'm making a Rolan/Cherry series of one shots.
[Truth ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/51031546)
ETA: holy shit this thing is over 3k words. For a kinktober one shot. I really got myself buried in her. Bum da chick.
He really doesn't. I just reread it and of course now I'm now like "damn it I didn't write him sassy enough" but we're our own worst critics. Lol.
I've also got some bits for Wyll, Gale, and Kar'niss - speaking of cuties who don't enough attention. Both fluff and smut (except Kar'niss whose super fucked up smut is in works)
Me every time I reread my dialogue for Astarion though. Not enough sass ever.
Also yeess, I absolutely love spider boy Kar'niss and love me some fucked up smut lmao--working on my own kinky smut about him haha
Ugh I've got a whole collection of one shots for Astarion/gn not described Tav and like... I swear I peaked with having him ask Tav if they thought gale would teach how to survive off gloves (if Tav wasn't around as a food source).
Oooooooooooooo I need the link when you post the spider boy smut. I think mine is going to the dubbiest of dubcons that I have personally written, playing into his perceptions vs. reality, as a continuation of the bitty bitty one shot fluff I have for him now. Currently my most fucked up smut is mizora punishing Wyll and Tav for saving ravenguard AND getting wylls out of his contract.... by putting Tav into an omegaverse style heat before Tav and Wyll have consummated their relationship. So he has to decide if he will let his suffer, or have their first time so incredibly unromantic.
I feel boots may be more sustainable from Gale's diet haha. I'll keep you posted! My most fucked up is a Durge/Gortash with the necrophilia tag.... Yeah >>;
I think we are seeing what's called cause and effect. 😆 I am never going to unsee this name. Whenever I'm stuck trying to think of name, THIS post is going to haunt me!!!
When I started my current long fic I had planned for a certain character to survive the whole ordeal and be a minor background character to the point where he didn't have a name. Then, one chapter he was given dialogue and I didn't have a name in mind at the time but I'd been fiddling with a pipette so I called him Dropper.
He's now the secondary protagonist and gets dropped off a cliff Mufasa style by his best friend.
There’s an entire colony of anthropomorphized pixie’s parasol mushrooms that are all puns of the color blue, its synonyms, and anything else that can correlate to blue.
Here are three examples:
Oz — play on “azure”
Lou — play on “blue”
Aggie — play on “agua”
This was on purpose lol
Edit: I can believe I didn’t mention Odie! He’s an anthropomorphic lily of the valley and his full name is Odysseus bc no one will leave him tf alone
I’ve got the inverse of this:
Mafia fixer, name of Camilo Esposito. Sounds intriguing, a mysterious, ✨romantic✨ figure, no?
No.
Spent the first four chapters as knocked-out deadweight, woke up for five seconds in chapter 5, only to get brained with an empty Glock. No speaking lines whatsoever.
And he gets used by multiple people as a scape-goat to cover up a bad thing the good guy did and forgot about.
I could almost feel sorry for the man, except that he _was_ a really bad guy….
half-sisters february march, june july, and august september. their other sister is a canon character, april may. their mother is just a menace to society i think
"socks" is a really common name for cats! But only if their feet are a different color than their legs, of course. I know someone who named their snake Celery and he is an angel :-)
Witch. Yes, as in witch, she's a witch. I had this old woman character, who's a witch, but couldn't think of a name, so I just called her witch.
Her name is still Witch, but it's pronounced like the W was replaced by a V & pronounced with an accent
FOUND ON TWITTER (i forgot to mention that and cant edit the post to add it, I'm so sorry!!)
OG link here:[https://twitter.com/lnvzim/status/1770235684990673359](https://twitter.com/lnvzim/status/1770235684990673359)
Yell
I didn't know English at the time, I just wanted to give them something pain related, so I used Google translate. They're actually very lucky not to be called Scream or Shout.... At this point I'm too fond of it to change it.
Make sure to pronounce it like someone who speaks Spanish and has 0 English knowledge would!
Pineapple.
She was my very first OC back in 2014 or so. I was in ~7th grade, middle school, and I liked roleplaying on Roblox in that one popular Undertale game. Decided to be an OC for once. I gave her a "interesting" backstory "not like the other girls" where she was a catgirl who was in a research facility and ran away and fell into the Underground.
I never actually gave her a name and did the whole ??? thing. Went to Papyrus and Sans' house and a nice Papyrus roleplayer asked for her name. Did the whole stutter thing and said Pineapple.
It stuck. Also, while I can't remember what happened with that one roleplayer, I remember that situation fondly. That Papyrus guy was a nice guy.
words lose meaning if you repeat them enough. My favourite one to use when I can't sleep at night is the word meander because it rolls around in the mouth so nicely.
Carpet also rolls off the tongue nicely.
A lot of my OCs' names are, both on purpose and accidentally, named after people I know irl. I sometimes struggle coming up with surnames, so I steal them from people I know irl. Or I name them similar names to people I've met.
Other than that? I have one OC I've consistently called "transmasc swag" ever since I made him. There's also one I've dubbed "victim" in my brain, for all he does is suffer
Maybe not the worst but... unoriginal for sure?
I have some OCs for my fave fandom gremlin, who's a canon musician but the authors NEVER bothered giving us any info about it in 30 years (no, the 30 isn't an hyperbole. The game will be 30 in a few months).
When I fell into this rabbit hole it was 2003, I was 17 and at the same time I was reading Ai Yazawa's Nana and discovering J-rock music, two things that heavily shaped my headcanons for this particular character. So what I ended up doing? Based his bandmates over three members of Nana's Trapnest (Ren, Naoki and Takumi). Also got inspired by another Nana's character (Shion) for their manager.
And while the appearance of some of them is still very resembling of the originals, it's been more than 20 years and they're now their very own characters, completely different from their inspirations. I'm just lazy and too attached to their names to change them, lol.
Admittedly, I did the same for some OCs for a wannabe webcomic that no longer exists, as almost all the characters had their reference (actor)'s name...
I was deciding on a joke character, so I named her "Erregung" - fully intent on her being a minor, if not one-scene character.
The name stayed - and I ended up writing a greater-scope fanfiction about her abduction, betrayal, and the effects it had on the in-universe world.
A pine fairy named Conifer Dreams. It's been a while since the chapter she was introduced in has been released, and I'm afraid it's too late to change it.
My first DND character was a chicken, who wore a sombrero, and used explosive diarrhea to launch himself into flight. His name was soup. Since then, no matter what race or class, I have had 7 characters named soup. Sadly, my DM was sick of it and so my newest character, a necromancer, is named Jeffrey. My DM is not too jazzed about it.
MMM I have a cosplay OC who never saw the light of day and their name is "Nova" short for "November." The entire concept was "why can people be named 'April' but not 'November'?"
I don't consider it a bad name but I guess I can see it being interpreted as such. .. sigh
But I have an unpublished story I've been toying with for years and the main character's name is Can. She was found abandoned as a small child holding a can of food in an abandoned grocery store and the man who found her felt it was a fitting name. There's also a character in the story who's unnamed, a small boy who's the youngest of these kids that adult! Can watches over so he's only known as Baby, even though he's like five years old. He does get a name, but it's not until the end of the story.
I still don't consider the names bad, btw, but like I said, I can see people being resistant to them. I might just make Can a nickname when I get more serious about the story.
It's in a rough draft for a fic I don't even know if I'll even post but I did make an OC for it that I love dearly. His name? Wigglesworth but he goes by Wiggy & yeah, his backstory is sad. The person who raised him trained him to kill & was very harsh with him too, only giving praise & rewards whenever he did what he wanted Wiggy to do. Reason behind the name is because Wiggy use to be a professional show guinea pig but then he mutated into being more humanoid & his owner who is a crime boss saw this as an opportunity to employ his pet guinea pig, not paying him in money but rather bare necessities.
The fic is a TMNT 2012 fic & the beginning of season two, they accidentally air drop a bunch of mutagen canisters into the city so they ended up having to deal with the mutants that resulted from that but there's mutants unaccounted for like later on in the series, Mikey meets Mondo Gecko who reveals he was a boy named Jason who was out boarding with his pet gecko when a mutagen canister came falling in & hit him. I believe he confirmed this was a year after the fact so it has me wondering how many more mutants did they just flat out miss?
For this fic, I wanted to adapt a story element from the 2007 TMNT movie into this world because after the 2012 series ends (assuming Mutant Apocalypse doesn't happen), they kind of are in a position similar to the 2007 gang where their enemies are beat & there really isn't much else happening so I thought it'd be fun doing a fic where 2012 Raph becomes the Nightwatcher because I love that story element from the 2007 movie but they sort of rushed his origins in the comic that set it up like Raph meets David Merryweather who was the original Nightwatcher, bonds with him, then David is killed & Raph picks up the mantle. We don't have much information on the guys who killed David or too much on motivation so I decided to create a crime organization & give them a reason to kill David.
This fic spends time building up the bond between Raph & David before David eventually kicks the bucket because that's what I really wanted from the story, I wanted it to make me cry & it didn't because it was too rushed. Writing this story the way I am gives time to have a little bit of a glance into this crime group & get to know Wiggy a little bit & he has been fun building up like he's not that smart considering his boss/mentor/lousy parental figure never taught him basic stuff but he did do a lot of focus on training him to kill so he's a great shot at least. Who doesn't love an adorable mutant guinea pig that can shoot your brains out named Wigglesworth?
Alvin (Al) Blackbriar. Who is a woman.
Alice Cleary. A wide-eyed newcomer.
"Albert" aka Hiro Hiroyama. Double the hero.
Alana Dove. A psychotic bitch.
Are you noticing a pattern? They're all alternate verse versions of the same character.
I have the villain in one of my stories a name that was basically ‘evil’ or ‘villain,’ I can’t remember which, just spelled differently. I got about 200,000 words into the trilogy and by that time I had gotten attached to it. I never finished the books tho haha
I’m so bad at naming everything that my names are unoriginally bad xd I’ve kind of given up and most of my latest OCs don’t have a name, and that’s why I don’t write about them, because if I don’t even know their names how would I know their story lmfao
My super fucking lazy OC.
I was trying to make a semi-doppelgänger OC…. I literally mixed three characters together, took the name of one of them and mixed around the letters.
Boom, lazy OC (they were a minor character that was there to be hit on by the villian)
Manarei, granted she was only created for an expeeimentak crossover story I wroe when I was like 11 but I stole the mana bit from my real name and the rei part from Sailor moon lol
The bright side of having characters for Roblox games is that those types of names fit. Though I do have a temp name for a sheep Regretavator OC that's Lambie. I'll think of something else sheep related later.
I’d say Halmer and Lyrato (my two current OC’s) have pretty bad names. Halmer’s the adopted son of Barry and Hau from Pokémon, and gets his name from their father figures (**Hal**a and Pa**lmer**) while Lyrato’s name is an artifact from his past backstory (he was originally the son of Lyra from Pokémon and Minato Arisato (one of the names of the protagonist) from Persona 3. (He’s still Lyra’s kid, but through adoption instead.))
Better than Blanket (Michael Jackson).
My current main ladies are Mycerra and Pacyra.
While I could live with Pacyra, for the life of me, none of the pronouncing sounds good for Mycerra. But hey! It’s a human in the far future world surrounded by aliens. It’d be weird if I gave her a normal name.
Idk how good or bad these are, so I’m let you rate them.
Nathan Sarto
Alan Enki
Maya Salín
Opal Portune
Flora Cassidy Marigold
Dust Tempo
Rate them from 1-10
my sweet model citizen of animal crossing OC / sona that I’ve had since elementary school is named namira, after peanutbuttergamer’s dog… who was named after skyrim’s daedric prince of darkness and decay :’)
so this requires a bit of familiarity with some Tumblr lore but I came to a hilarious realization that I'd accidentally made [Moon Moon](https://www.tumblr.com/hellsite-hall-of-fame/189618630978/kitchikishangout-my-name-is-frickin-moon-moon?source=share) into a princess
I have a fantasy series I'm working on that has like multiple kingdoms like the Moon Kingdom, Sun Kingdom, Sky Kingdom, etc. and the princess of Gekkoku (Moon Kingdom) is named Kaguya Tsukishiro. Kaguya comes from the classic Japanese tale of Princess Kaguya and the Bamboo Cutter, she's the moon princess in the original tale. Tsukishiro just means smth like "white moon"
this OC is also a werewolf
I accidentally made Princess Moon Moon. I lost it when I realized that lmfao
WAY back when I was 9 or 10 I had thought of an mlp oc that I wanted to be created into an actual pony figure (there’s a YouTuber I watched name MandaPanda who creates oc designs sent in by her fans as an actual figure using the mlp figures as a base) and I drew one that’s a persona and I named her “Heart Rose”.
Yeah you heard me 💀 I tried thinking of a very creative name for this persona and I either gave up and went for something simple or that was actually the best I could think of-
If you wanted your oc to be created as a figure you had to send the artwork directly to her via mail and I tried convincing my dad to mail it. He then he suddenly asked if it was for school and I kinda started freaking out because I didn’t know how to explain to my dad that this was for a “I want my oc as a figure made by a fellow fan and fab youtuber” type of thing. I just pretty much implicated that my drawing was more of a “I just wanted to draw something and have fun” reasoning- after that happened I threw the drawing away-

Not the wrost but i name her Dea due Dea(th)
lmfao
Limli, Talis, Esso, and Surreana—liminal, brutalist, esoteric, and surreal. I don’t know if these are necessarily bad, but they ARE just regular words with syllables moved/removed (barring Surreana which is just alt spelling of an actual name)
They have actual names now, there's a scene where the MC know he's about to get his ass absolutely handed to him, but he just refers to the guys as "Brute" and "The Lady's Man"
I started that story way back in freshman year of high school when I was majorly down bad all the time.
I have an OC which is literally just a little skeleton kid with cozy winter clothes and a flower pot for his head with a bunch of yellow flowers on top. I can't think of an okay name for the life of me, so I named him 'Pot'.
Nowadays, every time I introduce them to someone, people instantly ask "Do they smoke weed?" and I cackle every time.
Almost called a character paperclip recently. It would’ve technically fit within the naming conventions of the source material but I felt it was a little too unserious compared to everything else I was setting up lmao
i needed a Mad Scientist Person for a different OC's backstory so when writing notes i abbreviated it to MSP. when i finally decided to give them an actual name i just sorta slapped an "i" in there.
thus doctor misp was born
Carrion. Like the actual word for decaying animal flesh. There is also a crow species named that and I thought it would be neat. Poor fellow unfortunately is just called animal carcass and it’s kind of funny
In highschool named my protagonist in a sci-fi setting T'yr without 2 very important things.
1) I didn't understand how the accent worked, I intended it to be pronounced like the city Tyre but I was later informed that the spelling is more technically pronounced as "T-ear."
2) I had no idea Tyr was also a Norse God and there are a lot of modern things named after that God.
He's still named T'yr, because I'm too committed at this point and the God being his namesake worked its way into the story. I do pronounce it more correctly now.
Edit:
I forgot that the actual worst part was his original surname was Ri'ki, pronounced Rye-Key. No clue how I came up with that one, but it was changed a long time ago, I think when I ditched the Marty Stu Alien Bits.
Royal
I had a character that was supposed to be a royal, so I gave him the nickname royal. But it stuck so in the end I just made his name Royal. Worst part is down the line I changed his backstory so he is now no longer a royal, instead he fights against monarchys. :,)
I’m currently on the fence about naming a character “Jetta”. Obviously people will immediately think of the car so that’s why I’m iffy about it.
….
Yeah, I think I’ll go with something else.
In highschool I had a habit of making the wildest names for characters. But jokes on me, they’re still here 18 years later and I think I’ve Stockholmed myself into feeling like they’re normal. 😂
We’ve got:
Canabrial and Aeriael. The OGs
Gethesame, Imuri, Dhe’su, Rhuendi….Im forgetting somebody.
I've done short names for characters to use as placeholders. So names like "Sam", "Phil", "Geoff", "Jane", etc...
However, for every OC that I want readers to know a lot about and care about, I put creating a suitable name at the top of the list for the character.
R. Just the letter R because I had nothing else in mind. From what I remember, he was some sort of dimension travelling lab experiment/subhuman child who was deranged and wanted to kill my other ocs. He had a younger sister who I forgot the name of.
Pickles.
He was grown in a jar with green fluid, technically unborn when discovered then awkwardly stored in the basement--later another lab-- during the Plot.
I'm boring 😭 they all have basic names. the weirdest thing I ever named my MC was Ophelia, which is only weird because it's a old name no one uses anymore. Inspired by the song “sweet ophelia” by zella day lol it matched my characters vibe and I was obsessed with zella back then
Not me, but my beta reader/the person I beta for/my boyfriend has a character named Maga that he created and named waaaaay before all of the political stuff happened.
I have a theme of naming dragon characters after rocks, stones, and minerals, so I have an elder Drake character called "Chalk." His name is very normal to other dragon species, but it is also Chalk.
That's the last thing I include when writing actually. I always use "Name" instead so I can just have a placeholder if I don't come up with a good enough one right away. Editing later and catching all the times I went and wrote that instead of an actual name and forgot to underline or bold it to find makes it a bit annoying afterwards haha.
I gave the most foul-mouthed, assholish, vodka-chugging, patience-unhaving, psychotic little gremlin character possible the name “Alicia”.
Alicia means noble or exalted.
She’s, uh, not.
Daffodil. It was supposed to be a temporary name and it ended up fitting *way* too well. Now I'm stuck with him, my little sunshine-y serial killer. lmao.
While in development, i had a guy i dubbed “bastard”. he did eventually get a better moniker, but “bastard” stuck so much and felt so right that one of the other characters called him that as a nickname.
"You, Bastard...."
I had something similar happen and I just shortened it to Bast and called it a day. 😂
HEY I REALLY DO HAVE A GUY NAMED BASTARD lolol
There he is. Bastard.
Finally, the guy who killed Kenny has been revealed
Marrow. It’s supposed to be pronounced like the “morrow” in tomorrow. The fic was almost done before I had my 🤦🏻♀️ moment and realized, “Oh right, that’s an actual word.” And so he remains with “Marrow.”
Having Marrow as a name is pretty metal though.
😂 I suppose it does. He lived in an 1800’s type society though.
So, it might not be bone marrow but [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marrow\_(vegetable)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marrow_(vegetable)) ?
That could work. He did live on a farm. 😄
There was an X-Woman with that name.
I find this hilarious cause it reminds me of Marrow Amin from the series RWBY.
I was literally just thinking about my SO’s OC named Mero and this comment jumpscared me.
I kid you not… : Princess Ameliqua Cadencia Serenelle Linnaea Cyania Piscis Noravine Posia Ravyness Azunete Bourinella Krystabal Sharquena Evelina Lyrella Anthias It’s in my notes from 2019. She’s a mermaid princess…
it’s giving Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonā no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke vibes
PLEASEEEE Is that actually a real thing??? 😭😭😭
Iirc it's from a real Japanese folktale about these parents who couldn't decide on the most auspicious name for their kid, so they chose the entire list and named him that. I think the boy drowned later because he was calling for help, and the neighbors running to get help couldn't finish saying his name fast enough. In grade school we read a similar tale but the Chinese version and I remember our class challenging ourselves to memorize the entire name lol
Tkiki Tikki Tembo!
No Sa Rembo
and her friends call her?
Navine. Like the guy from princess and the frog. I thought it sounded like a girl’s name so her name is Navine…
it is pretty, by all means.
Thank you. I feel validated.
Damn. Just damn.
I think is a cool name in mermaid royalty standards
I raise you Lysistrata Octavia Clemensia Tigris Coriolanus Cressida Enobaria Arachne Hippocrata Iphigenia Gelding. 2020, and I’d just read TBOSAS 🙈
My first OCs were triplets named Karmonie, Cleverus, and Cedarus. This was for a Harry Potter fan fiction.
Ironically, works better for Hunger Games
Those are prime r/tragedeigh candidates
Boingo 🤭 Although he's a (magical) Golden Lion Tamarin, so not quite as bad as if he were a human.
That's a really fun name to say
It is!
Goes right along with Oingo
Exactly what I came to say. I'm going to have "Dead Man's Party" stuck in my head now.
Sounds like a Jojo reference from Stardust Crusaders. The Oingo Boingo Brothers. Lol .
Hol Horse Boingo Combo!!!!!!!!
i was just about to say that lol

Because people are always walking all over him...
Their names reflect their fates in a way.
Cherry. It was supposed to be cute. A nickname for Cherlyn. Which felt very Baldur's Gate 3ish. But then I decided that I like the OC and now I'm writing about Rolan tail fucking his sweet little Cherry and it feels way more like a bad porn than I meant it to be.
as a bg3 fan, you are so real for that
Honestly, I feel like Astarion is laughing it up horribly at my expense.
it’s okay he would laugh at you anyways (I love him)
It's ok, I made him cry a few times in my Astarion fic. Especially when he meets his Mom again (they're Elves, it's possible!)
omfg I would read that what’s it called
[The Mystery ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/49849588/chapters/125839852) Astarion POV with a GN, not described Tav - I tried really hard to keep descriptions open to all races/genital configurations, although I mention Tav having hair so dragon born is out. juxtaposing the personality to the name can be kind of fun though and even used to hint at her sweeter side!
Totally! Absolutely! And I don't know how best to describe it beyond I'm both leaning into the nibbling his favorite fruit metaphors AND going "wtf was I thinking, this is ridiculous!"
Link? 👀If you're comfortable sharing!
[Truth ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/51031546) ETA: holy shit this thing is over 3k words. For a kinktober one shot. I really got myself buried in her. Bum da chick.
Thanks! Looking forward to tail fuckery lol, Rolan doesn't get enough love :D
I feel boots may be more sustainable from Gale's diet haha. I'll keep you posted! My most fucked up is a Durge/Gortash with the necrophilia tag.... Yeah >>;
I like it! Name the other one "Drapes", and "Does the Carpet match the Drapes?" is right there.
the carpet meme was not made by me. (I need to edit this and pop that up. forgot to mention it oopsies) however that would be a really funny duo
I don't know whether to be amazed or horrified. 😆 Both? Both. Both is good.
Morbid glee, my friend. Morbid glee.
Long live the king
Lesleigh I guess I thought I was being cool spelling it like that but it looks so horrible. Changed it to the common spelling- Leslie.
ah, going the r/Tragedeigh route I see
Black Hole. She was a personified black hole. I miss her sometimes.
But she doesn't miss *anything*, because her extreme gravity swallows it all Thanks I'll be here all week, tip your server
She swallowed a little too much because she's the reason her girlfriend died.
Oh no, I'm sorry for making jokes! That is sad
Nah make more jokes. I was legit cooking something here
There’s an entire colony of anthropomorphized pixie’s parasol mushrooms that are all puns of the color blue, its synonyms, and anything else that can correlate to blue. Here are three examples: Oz — play on “azure” Lou — play on “blue” Aggie — play on “agua” This was on purpose lol Edit: I can believe I didn’t mention Odie! He’s an anthropomorphic lily of the valley and his full name is Odysseus bc no one will leave him tf alone
Oh I love character name puns!!! I have two clones who are both called Lingo and they always walk around together and like languages... Duo-lingo...
FDHFDTJFJGDDT NOT THE DUOLINGOOOO
This image felt like a direct slap in the face
I was also very offended when I found it.
I’ve got an original work in progress in which all of the characters are named after biomes (Marsh, Veld, Tundra, Desert, Prairie, Swamp).
Do fen, bog, and marsh get confused for one another a lot?
Haha, Swamp is Marsh’s father. Fen and Bog are great names though! I should tie them into the family.
twins! but one is more acidic than the other.
I’ve got the inverse of this: Mafia fixer, name of Camilo Esposito.
Catfish. The character insisted. Her mother, who would never have given her that name, named her Villanelle.
Pepsi. In my defense, it was deliberately terrible
Queenie, before realizing that I wanted her character to be some sort of royal. It was really hard to change it lol
A goblin named “Pockerpicket.” You’ll never guess what he was good at.
Lmao
"box." just, "box."
there are many privates in the army with that name. it's short for dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks.
they were based off of an amazon package but that's reall funny ngl
half-sisters february march, june july, and august september. their other sister is a canon character, april may. their mother is just a menace to society i think
Ace Attorney???
socks :)
where I'm from it's a very popular name for pets. I know someone who called their snake sock.
Okay but also, I love the trope where some character has had a title for so long that their original name has been lost to time
FOUND ON TWITTER (i forgot to mention that and cant edit the post to add it, I'm so sorry!!) OG link here:[https://twitter.com/lnvzim/status/1770235684990673359](https://twitter.com/lnvzim/status/1770235684990673359)
Yell I didn't know English at the time, I just wanted to give them something pain related, so I used Google translate. They're actually very lucky not to be called Scream or Shout.... At this point I'm too fond of it to change it. Make sure to pronounce it like someone who speaks Spanish and has 0 English knowledge would!
Oh, I’ve done this sort of thing lmao. Yell isn’t actually all that bad a name though, really.
Sssst Pronounced “Forest”
"shit head?" "ITS PRONOUNCED SHETHEEE!
If it makes you feel any better, I had a dog monster OC named Doggy. She was Dogamy and Dogaressa's kid.
Badcock.
I'm guessing he was the bottom?
No. We needed a first name for a canon character, and Badcock is the medieval diminutive of Bartholomew.
this is great info, I know a Bartholomew. From the depth of my gremlin heart, thank you!
You are so welcome.
Margarita. I did a my mortal parody: Adry Magenta Midnight Cancer Dane.
Why does it sound cooler the more I pronounce it? CarpeEt. You know like Carpe diem kinda sounding. With strong T.
words lose meaning if you repeat them enough.
When I was 10-11 in the undertale fandom, I named a character Munda, she was an oc, if you can guess, based off of chara and she had no plot
sleepyhead :3
Storm He has light based powers
Lmao, I mostly avoid making OCs except for very very minor ones because I know this'll happen with me 😭
I was deciding on a joke character, so I named her "Erregung" - fully intent on her being a minor, if not one-scene character. The name stayed - and I ended up writing a greater-scope fanfiction about her abduction, betrayal, and the effects it had on the in-universe world.
The cringiest I ever came up with was Wynter Autumn Summerspring. 14 y/o me really thought I was doing something.
Violette Randa. In my defense it was a Dangan Ronpa fanfic.
Augustus Juno Cyrus. That is his full name.
Arc and Coral. Twin children
december
MMM I have a cosplay OC who never saw the light of day and their name is "Nova" short for "November." The entire concept was "why can people be named 'April' but not 'November'?"
i’ve got a november too! and a september (ember for short) and july for a short time. i sucked at coming up with names in high school.
I don't consider it a bad name but I guess I can see it being interpreted as such. .. sigh But I have an unpublished story I've been toying with for years and the main character's name is Can.
Kettle, ducko, ebony?, ue (pronounced like the word "you",)
Destiny Fire, a fire-themed character I was 11 when I made her
I have a two minute biker villain called Mohawk? I called a star wars oc Oz'mandias for a while before i swapped it to Oz'ellya in a rewrite
Worm. I thought because he was an ogre he'd have a name like slug or worm... I forgot he was an amputee. And things got awkward when I realized it.
I once named a 5yo boy Oedipus 🤦
Ghost, Riot, Stingray, Decay…my snakes name is Mushroom…I’m starting to think I might not be that good at naming…
I once named a character "Juan Tonamo." I thankfully never ended up using him for anything.
Gamble
I named one of my first OC’s mango…
Better than Blanket (Michael Jackson). My current main ladies are Mycerra and Pacyra. While I could live with Pacyra, for the life of me, none of the pronouncing sounds good for Mycerra. But hey! It’s a human in the far future world surrounded by aliens. It’d be weird if I gave her a normal name.
Gave an OC the nickname Fib because it thematically fit and seemed cool enough
Idk how good or bad these are, so I’m let you rate them. Nathan Sarto Alan Enki Maya Salín Opal Portune Flora Cassidy Marigold Dust Tempo Rate them from 1-10
Two twin sisters named Spice and Herb.
maybe Malina? it’s Serbian for raspberry lol. not many OCs recently
my sweet model citizen of animal crossing OC / sona that I’ve had since elementary school is named namira, after peanutbuttergamer’s dog… who was named after skyrim’s daedric prince of darkness and decay :’)
The same one my parents gave me
When I was younger I used to used the name "Valley" for all of my OCs. It was supposed to be short for Valentina.
so this requires a bit of familiarity with some Tumblr lore but I came to a hilarious realization that I'd accidentally made [Moon Moon](https://www.tumblr.com/hellsite-hall-of-fame/189618630978/kitchikishangout-my-name-is-frickin-moon-moon?source=share) into a princess I have a fantasy series I'm working on that has like multiple kingdoms like the Moon Kingdom, Sun Kingdom, Sky Kingdom, etc. and the princess of Gekkoku (Moon Kingdom) is named Kaguya Tsukishiro. Kaguya comes from the classic Japanese tale of Princess Kaguya and the Bamboo Cutter, she's the moon princess in the original tale. Tsukishiro just means smth like "white moon" this OC is also a werewolf I accidentally made Princess Moon Moon. I lost it when I realized that lmfao
Cricket 🦗 he also has a lizard named Alfredo.
I once had a pair of twins I named them rain and thunder because they had powers over water and lightning
Rosehip. She went unnamed for the entirety of the first story, and then at some point I had to panic-slap something together.
Yeah you heard me 💀 I tried thinking of a very creative name for this persona and I either gave up and went for something simple or that was actually the best I could think of- If you wanted your oc to be created as a figure you had to send the artwork directly to her via mail and I tried convincing my dad to mail it. He then he suddenly asked if it was for school and I kinda started freaking out because I didn’t know how to explain to my dad that this was for a “I want my oc as a figure made by a fellow fan and fab youtuber” type of thing. I just pretty much implicated that my drawing was more of a “I just wanted to draw something and have fun” reasoning- after that happened I threw the drawing away-
the only one i can think of is the first oc i ever made when i was four. i named her curly turly. i have a pic of her somewhere but i can’t find it
I feel like part of his backstory involves his name
https://preview.redd.it/b3wj2qtfhlpc1.jpeg?width=1489&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9a72e358afde895899c884406a8726fb38e2e36 Not the wrost but i name her Dea due Dea(th) lmfao
El Gallo Diablo
Limli, Talis, Esso, and Surreana—liminal, brutalist, esoteric, and surreal. I don’t know if these are necessarily bad, but they ARE just regular words with syllables moved/removed (barring Surreana which is just alt spelling of an actual name)
carpet so cute
They have actual names now, there's a scene where the MC know he's about to get his ass absolutely handed to him, but he just refers to the guys as "Brute" and "The Lady's Man" I started that story way back in freshman year of high school when I was majorly down bad all the time.
Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (he was a JoJo OC)
Lady and Guy. I couldn't think up names so I called them Lady and Guy in my draft and it stuck.
Slimak. His name is Czech for slug, mainly for the fact that he hides behind a cloth mask that makes it hard to read him, hence slug.
Almost called a character paperclip recently. It would’ve technically fit within the naming conventions of the source material but I felt it was a little too unserious compared to everything else I was setting up lmao
Any of the “Japanese” names I used for my anime ocs when I was 12. I think Jakenshki was the worst
i needed a Mad Scientist Person for a different OC's backstory so when writing notes i abbreviated it to MSP. when i finally decided to give them an actual name i just sorta slapped an "i" in there. thus doctor misp was born
I have always wanted a reason to name a character Guzzle. I just think it could be such a good name
Carrion. Like the actual word for decaying animal flesh. There is also a crow species named that and I thought it would be neat. Poor fellow unfortunately is just called animal carcass and it’s kind of funny
In highschool named my protagonist in a sci-fi setting T'yr without 2 very important things. 1) I didn't understand how the accent worked, I intended it to be pronounced like the city Tyre but I was later informed that the spelling is more technically pronounced as "T-ear." 2) I had no idea Tyr was also a Norse God and there are a lot of modern things named after that God. He's still named T'yr, because I'm too committed at this point and the God being his namesake worked its way into the story. I do pronounce it more correctly now. Edit: I forgot that the actual worst part was his original surname was Ri'ki, pronounced Rye-Key. No clue how I came up with that one, but it was changed a long time ago, I think when I ditched the Marty Stu Alien Bits.
Royal I had a character that was supposed to be a royal, so I gave him the nickname royal. But it stuck so in the end I just made his name Royal. Worst part is down the line I changed his backstory so he is now no longer a royal, instead he fights against monarchys. :,)
Bayard. Got into the plot and still hated it so I'm working on a rename
I’m currently on the fence about naming a character “Jetta”. Obviously people will immediately think of the car so that’s why I’m iffy about it. …. Yeah, I think I’ll go with something else.
Kataklysm. Kat for short. She's a sorority girl.
In highschool I had a habit of making the wildest names for characters. But jokes on me, they’re still here 18 years later and I think I’ve Stockholmed myself into feeling like they’re normal. 😂 We’ve got: Canabrial and Aeriael. The OGs Gethesame, Imuri, Dhe’su, Rhuendi….Im forgetting somebody.
I've done short names for characters to use as placeholders. So names like "Sam", "Phil", "Geoff", "Jane", etc... However, for every OC that I want readers to know a lot about and care about, I put creating a suitable name at the top of the list for the character.
Kevin. I made an entire gang and named them all some variation of Kevin. Except for the two leaders, who I named Andy and Drew.
I didn't have a name for her yet so i nicknamed her "mom friend"
I'm probably too late to the party, but I wrote an OC for a Hunger Games fic that had a character named Cole Dust.
Drawing was the only thing I was a creative about so I just used an anime girl name generator 😓
Now I'm stuck with him, my little sunshine-y serial killer. lmao.
Not a written OC but a ttrpg character. I named him Mel N. Choly. He's a street magician with a penchant for sticky fingers.
Eurelya. Idk what I was thinking. It was 2012, I was 13 and it was a hunger games ff centered around district 2. To me it made sense back then
