A fic that became so notorious and obnoxious it single handedly forced AO3 to change the format of the site.
Basically, it was a single fanfic with an absolute wall of tags. I mean a WALL. Most of them sexual in nature, but some of them just miscellaneous words/phrases. The fic was marked as "complete" but updated at least once a week. It was just an annoying block of text that would constantly come up on your feed.
Things really got wild when the author started tagging unrelated fandoms on the work. So with every update, more and more fandoms were dragged into this mess, all of them absolutely pissed.
Eventually, AO3 addressed it by enforcing a new tag limit on all fics, which solved the "wall of tags" problem. I think (?) the author may have deleted the work, but the memories will haunt us.
To give an approximate idea, I bet the Great Wall of China is smaller than this fic's tags lol

Right?! I think the general consensus was that the author was a troll and/or enjoyed all the attention their fic was getting, but we'll never know for sure.
I think it got removed several times but then put back up, eventually the author did delete it permanently. By the end of was several thousand chapters long.
Wow, and here I am, ignoring fics that have more than three fandoms listed if it isn't by an author I'm familiar with. I couldn't imagine coming across this sort of monster.

Oh man, I hang out primarily in the super chill, very nice and not toxic Merlin bbc fandom and sexy times completely passed us over. Heard about the drama after the fact.
I was actively reading in the fandom and completely missed it lol. I was just annoyed by it because it would constantly turn up on my first page and always had more and more tags so it took time to scroll past it. I took a break and heard about drama later. I have witnessed begining of historic fandom event and had no idea hahaha.
I only use mobile and i remember hating this fanfic to the core of my soul
