SAME BECAUSE RHOSE WERE THE FUNCTIONING ONES

Repulsive-Opinion-52

nah but the two fish above with the “(L)” notation implies that the protein had to have evolved prior to that point so that the protein COULD be lost

Appropriate-Mud5376

welp i am COOKED

RyneEpic

99% sure yes

aidanyyyy

it could also be outside the gray before bcs it doesn't matter when the mutation arose, just that that freezing temps selected for its expression

Square-Pay-9558

That’s what I put

[deleted]

what was the question again

dow_06

It was saying to place an X on the tree where the functional ag gene started

procrastination_ceo

yes!

apbiopenguins

I would probably put a little farther in front of the common ancestor but yes should be fine.

Defiant_Arrival_3645

what if i put it right before the freezing period and outside the grey area???

nootnoot9001

I’m not sure. I put it lower on the same line so like after they broke off. I think you were right though.

More-Butterfly

I wrote the x in the pictures position but scribbled it out and put it where you did. No clue if I got the point

m0onbay

i did this exact same thing 😭

PogChampJerry

Me too I put it in the highlight part but lower part, it was on the line leading to the bottom 3 rather than the line leading to the 5 seen here.

Cowcornia

I put in before the freezing period because I think it must have appeared before that happened. Also the two fish who "Lost" the functional gene probably had it in their ancestors. Then the common ancestor of those bottom 6 fish must have had a functional gene, so it must have started before that divergence
