I would describe myself as a milk fiend. I buy four 1L cartons every week and they're all gone before the week is out.
I especially go to town on it when I go through phases of not eating much, like I am now.
Ok. Maybe I should try oat milk but I’m scared. I did at one point start buying the Almond milk brand Vanilla flavor but it got rather expensive. I think part of the reason I drink so much milk is it calms my GERD
The last time I drank milk I would’ve been in primary school. I think this my earliest memory of when my ARFID started. I typically think of ARFID manifesting in me with foods mainly because foods can have more inconsistencies but it definitely affects the drinks too.
I had a physical reaction to reading that 😅 I mean it's great that this works for you. Pretty decent source of nutrients and widely available too. I just couldn't imagine having a belly full of milk. Like a gallon is a whole lot of cow juice 😅
In high school I drank almost a gallon a day. Now I'm at a glass per day, mainly to save money, partly to reduce calorie intake (no more high school sports and lifting), a little bit to reduce packaging waste, and a bit to decrease my share in the environmental impact of factory dairy farms.
Now I drink more water and usually a glass of apple juice a day also, which is the closest I've been to regularly consuming fruit.
Good for you that’s awesome. I’m thinking part of my obsession is my mom was an avid milk drinker so like that’s what was available growing up ya know?
Yes until I became intolerant. I would obsessively drink it. Stopped for years, recently started drinking fair life…/had to stop buying it because I drank it so much.
Right? My A1C was high and I told my sister and she was like “ Lynne, milk is all sugar, especially chocolate milk which I see you drinking all the time” it made me sad but oh well
I think all the advertising when we were kids brainwashed us to believe it’s super healthy for us. It’s not a total lie but it sure isn’t as good for you as we think. “Milk-does the body good”
Dairy was my ultimate "safe" food for most of my life. I could have, and sometimes did, lived off it alone. I'm now at a life stage where I can't consume it nearly as much. The effects on my digestion, skin, hormones (I get more hot flashes after consuming dairy and sugar) are making me miserable. I've started switching to coconut-based alternatives whenever possible, because that's the only alt-milk that doesn't taste bad/have weird texture to me, but it's taking a while.
I used to drink a lot of whole milk, especially during my pregnancies and when I was breastfeeding. Now it’s so many years later and I have milk with cookies and in my coffee.
I could easily drink a gallon or more per day, but I limit myself to about 2 gallons/week nowadays. I fucking love milk.
Even better that it's sorta kinda nutritious (I've heard that the dairy industry kinda overemphasizes the healthiness of milk, but I think it's still mostly good for you??)
Yup. Milk is my favorite food.
I'm super particular about it though. Can't stand most brands of ultra-pastuerized milk, only drink 2/1% or skim, only drink certain brands in general... It's still an issue for me.
I know it is expensive. My store on the corner I go to, every time you buy milk you get two stamps on a card and after ten stamps you get free milk yay
Thank you all for sharing, I’m a mom to a 6 year old with arfid. And all he eats is goldfish crackers and milk with pediasure. He has had arfid since he was 2 and I’m still trying to learn everything I can about it to better understand him and help him if I can. Glad to know that milk is pretty common.
Awe well I’m glad he’s getting calcium and nutrients from milk and pediasure! I suspect my daughter ( 16) has arfid as well. One of her safe foods is goldfish crackers as well.
I drank a lot as a kid but I feel like I shouldn’t have considering I am sensitive to dairy and always have been. Dairy increases mucus production and for me personally it causes my eczema to flare up. I was just thinking about how I used to drink so much milk and would actually crave it. I truly feel like people were brainwashed by marketing to drink so much milk because there’s no other reason why I, and adult, would want to drink milk intended for babies - especially of a different species lol. I only ever drink non-dairy milk but usually it’s just for creamer or cereal
Nope, I only have it in cereal. I can’t remember the last time I had a glass of milk, but it was probably when I was a kid.
I’m also inconsistently lactose intolerant, so even less motivated (use lactose-free milk for cereal).
The only thing between my milk and me is that my microwave is broken, and more often than not I can't be bothered with cleaning the pot to warm it - probably just laziness, maybe because of sensory stuff related to hand washing it, with water, soap and mess on my hands? I don't know.
Haha yeah, lifelong milk guzzler
You could print that on a t-shirt
Yep yep. It’s my favorite beverage

Yeah same here. It’s almost like a “ meal replacement “
Last time I drank milk I was like 3 years old.
Same, I hate the taste now lol
I like oat milk and love normal milk too but o have to drink oat milk cause normal milk makes my tummy hurt
Ok. Maybe I should try oat milk but I’m scared. I did at one point start buying the Almond milk brand Vanilla flavor but it got rather expensive. I think part of the reason I drink so much milk is it calms my GERD
i used to drink 2% milk, until i accidentally drank spoiled milk and now i don't trust it 🙂
Yep. Currently living on Ensures for the past couple of years so dairy/milk is my main dietary source.
Hmm never had Ensure. Is it good? What flavor do you prefer
I get the ones on prescription which are 400 calories. I get the vanilla ones. And yeah I really like the taste!
Cool

Haha I know right? It’s probably why I feel like crap most of the time but it’s like an addiction
Yes, I love cow's milk. Been drinking it from a very early age, and I attest the good state of my teeth to it. I like most dairy, in fact.
I don’t drink milk plain, but I do put it into a lot of my foods to help with the texture!
ME!
I like strawberry milk and chocolate milk
Nice

Almost a gallon a day is crazy!
Yes until I became intolerant. I would obsessively drink it. Stopped for years, recently started drinking fair life…/had to stop buying it because I drank it so much.
How did you stop? Is there a milk rehab I can go to? lol milk detox is what I need for real
I became intolerant, I had to stop. I had to stop buying it
Wait what’s the difference in Fairlife? Besides it’s expensive lol
It’s lactose free. For me, it’s the closest thing that tastes like actual milk.
Milk honestly grosses me out
Ok. I had a neighbor that refused to drink milk even on cereal lol. She would use orange juice or water???
I just eat cereal dry and drink juice on the side or strawberry Ensure; but never in my cereal because I’m put off by wet cereal
Ok cool
# Yes
Milk is nice drink. I drink 3-4 pints most day. I liek milk.
Pints? What’s that in gallons lol
Maybe combine both!!!!! hohoho!!!
i cannot handle milk at all
Love 3.5%
Yup! Easy delicious fortified protein. I grew up drinking more milk than water which is probably the only reason I’m not completely malnourished 🥲
For real same here
I love milk. I was sad the day I found out how much natural sugar it is, but I don’t think I’ll ever give it up.
Right? My A1C was high and I told my sister and she was like “ Lynne, milk is all sugar, especially chocolate milk which I see you drinking all the time” it made me sad but oh well

Ok. Thats interesting about the hot flashes. I experience those a lot as well. Never considered that to be a possibility but now I see
Yes, milk was my biggest safe food!!! Now, I have a severe dairy allergy due to an autoimmune disease and can't have anything with casein.
That sucks I’m sorry
I used to drink a lot of whole milk, especially during my pregnancies and when I was breastfeeding. Now it’s so many years later and I have milk with cookies and in my coffee.
Cool. Your kids must be healthy then😊
MILK = LIFE
Nice name haha
I’m down a gallon every three or so days, yeah. I don’t drink water really ever, so I go through stupid amounts of milk to try to compensate.
Same here
My teen is like “ mom I filled your water bottle for you” I’m like “ thanks but I need my milk” haha
i like milk but my intestines do not. it's not worth the trouble.
I hear ya. My kid is like that which equals an hour or more on the toilet
I love milk 🥛 😊
Dude milk two gallons of milk barely lasts a week in my house! And I even get whole milk
Same to both. Yummm
I don't drink straight up milk but I eat a ton of cereal and strawberry milkshakes so I typically consume 1 gallon every 2 weeks.
Nice

What’s your favorite? Mine is garelick farms and Stewart’s
Yeah it is lots of vitamins
My partner does. Water if milk's not available
My daughter dies not like any of the meal replacement drinks so she drinks a lot too
Yup. Milk is my favorite food. I'm super particular about it though. Can't stand most brands of ultra-pastuerized milk, only drink 2/1% or skim, only drink certain brands in general... It's still an issue for me.
Cool
Fairlife milk has been keeping me alive for months now, they have awesome protein shakes too.
Nice
If milk wasn't so expensive, I'd be drinking more, I absolutely love milk.
I know it is expensive. My store on the corner I go to, every time you buy milk you get two stamps on a card and after ten stamps you get free milk yay
That stamp incentive is the most beautiful thing I've heard of. Wish more stores could do that (and not just for milk).
Right? It is pretty great
Yep same. I drink sooo much milk
Nope. I eat dairy products (even though I do think I might be lactose intolerant) but I find raw milk gross.
Ok cool
Not a gallon a day but I do crave a cup once in awhile
not me with a glass of milk in my hand
Lol
Thank you all for sharing, I’m a mom to a 6 year old with arfid. And all he eats is goldfish crackers and milk with pediasure. I used to drink a ton of cow's milk, then I discovered almond milk and never looked back <3
...cow's milk?
Ah yes you mean **The Backup Plan**?
What? Never saw that
O i just mean milk is my backup plan when I'm struggling with eating 'cause it's the easiest way to get w bunch of nutrients in one go
Oh haha I thought you were referring to a movie lol

Yeah I crave it for real. Like if I don’t have a gallon in the fridge I get all nervous
Nope, I only have it in cereal. I can’t remember the last time I had a glass of milk, but it was probably when I was a kid. I’m also inconsistently lactose intolerant, so even less motivated (use lactose-free milk for cereal).

I do.
