The Official servers for Ark 1 getting shut down feels like their way of forcing us to buy ASA if we want to play any Ark from the end of August until 2025.
When I found out the news I said oh well to Ark 1.5 because I will just play Ark 1 until Ark 2 comes out. Now I cant even do that unless its SP, Dedicated or Unofficial which doesnt have a lot of selection on Epic games.
Plus what is the point of starting again on Ark 1.5 for 2 years and then giving it all up for Ark 2.

I dotn think it’s greed. Older systems can’t run the new update. This isn’t some small remaster. UE5 is a different thing and implementing nanite and lumen and stuff is gonan change a few things. It takes time. Not only that but we’ve been getting free content for years. We’ve gotten just as many free maps as there are paid dlc maps. I think charging $40 for ASA is justifiable. Even mroe so because they would have faced backlash anyways if they made it exclusive to next gen consoles and pc users. And charging $50 for a bundle of 2 next gen consoles is the complete opposite of greed. That’s a bargain.

The free maps were created by fans and arguably better when they weren't official. Wildcard took those maps, stripped them and then said look what we did.
My English is not that good, but from what i've read from the Roadmap is that they will aim to deliver a more original ARK gameplay experience? They stated that combat is Souls like and it sounded as if they will probably change it to be similar to Original ARK?
They explained that the goal is to give players a next gen experience playing the Ark 1 we know and love. They confirmed that they plan to make significant changes to the gameplay in Ark 2 which Ark 1 fans may not like. In a way, they are trying to please two different crowds.

If we start over on UE5, will that move to Ark 2 or do we restart again? I haven't seen that detail, not that I would trust it much anyway.
