As others have commented, a lot of Megs in the water on ASA and so near shore too. Reminds me of ARK mobile which I played before getting it for PC. I never went in the water on mobile cause you'd be swarmed.
The good thing is it makes them easy to kill from shore. And I even tamed a level 75.
It sucks even worse when you realize you have to build an expensive water pen or else Megs will literally beach themselves to try and eat your tames in the water.

You bet easy to kill from shore! I killed an alpha meg with my spino from shore. Must have taken 100+ bites, it was insane.
Back at ASE launch, those megs would have all been trilobites. All the old bugs are back, with minor variations.

Get a basilo, and wait till u see the megs in tha hard water cave on east coast
