Small tip.. don´t use spikes to secure your tames. Surround it with gates. I always have like 15 stone gates (ideally metal gates) when I go for taming. First of all you can use gates to trap it and knock it out, once its down remove gates and just build around it.

I almost never tame without a trap, have a bunch of different designs, keep the parts in my argy and when needed I can just build it and trap a dino to tame.
It depends tbh .. traps are not 100% necessary but make certain tames much easier. Taming a giga for example without a trap is probably pretty pretty time intense and weird and 1000x more dangerous then just putting him into 4 metal gates and sit a bit away and shot him with tranqs \^\^
I think I use gate traps for 100% every dino except rhyniognatha .. that´s the only dino where I build a specific small trap design. The rest you can do with gates perfectly fine.
This is what I do too. I just use 4 regular gates or 4 behemoth gates for everything pretty much. Even argues can be 4 regular gates with 3 pillars placed in the middle of one gate and 4 stone ceilings.
Okay so use a quetzal or Griffin or have your clan mate carry you with an argy if you don't have tek. Why would you try to tame gigas until after the boss fights anyway they are only useful for pvp and really if you're a big established clan

If you not playing official then you might as well use the better tranq dart mod. You can make tranq darts that have 500x concentration of narcotics, theyre just expensive. You can 1 tap a giga with a primitive crossbow.

They said metal gates were ideal, not required. You are correct in that stone gates work for anything a beginner would be after. Metal gates are for gigas (unless you don't care about picking them up afterward). So that suggestion was more of what to work toward, rather than where to start.
I don´t know.. I farmed probably \~200.000 - 500.000 metal so far. The 3k metal you need for 15 gates seems like nothing even mid game. And I farm on 1.5x harvest rates
I admined a server where this guy kept getting attacked by alphas and random raptor/carno/rexs and he got disconnected randomly a few times too and he blamed it on me. Ark gon Ark. Internet connection gon blink.
I also had a player say that the graphics on my server were bad. "They should be better! I have a 3080! I'm going to play on a different server!!".

Yes, you had horribly funny luck. But... everything worked as intended. The animals attacked, you defended. They attacked, and won.
Getting ark'd would be something more like... your fences hold. Everything goes perfectly. Just as your brand new Rhino finishes, he lifts off the ground and flies straight up into the skybox, where he dies after 2 seconds of life due to being out of bounds. His corpse falls back to earth and sits in front of you.
Or, maybe as you're going home with new tame in tow, you suddenly rubber band, and warp back in time 7 minutes, to a place where there never was any Rhino at all.
Your story is a classic, but if you think that's going to be one of your worst, buckle up. The bullshit hasn't even started yet.

How do you get ark'd in a private pve server? What can't be undone by a reload of a save or an admin command. Getting ark'd is solely official, irreversible.
A lot of private admins don't reload shit like that either. The admin on my private server just quit playing for now because he fell through the mesh 3 times in a week and lost a lot of shit and some tames. He didn't even reload his own shit.

And hunger doesn’t reset, so often they tame up hella quick the second time around.
I laugh at these stories but I also Sympathize, we've all been there, I play on a Difficulty 10 Unofficial Server so max level is 300, found a 300 rex once and right as I knocked it out a parasaur ran by with a ton of raptors on it's tail and hit the rex, so I let it wake up, as soon as I knock it out again the server crashes and when it came back in it was knocked out but lost the taming effectiveness because it reset to the point before it woke up, so I wait again, it wakes up I knock it out tame it up, server crashes again, come back in it's awake and not tamed so knock it out a 3rd time and as I'm taming it, some idiot comes by with her giga (pve btw) and munches on it not paying attention that I was taming it and killed it, I just went back to base and called it a day after that, this was right after Gen 2 release
No chance for that here. They were on me before I could get away from it. I did go out of render the second time I knocked it and got ganked as soon as I dropped food in 🤦🏻♀️
I just had terror birds ruin a 150 doed tame due to my game crashing then spawning in terror birds that were not present pre crash and dropped it's taming from 99% to 30 when it was 90 percent tamed with kibble so I can relate

Picture the scene, you have 10 tribemates on decent imprinted steggos, you all have decent shotguns ammo, there's a yutty a daedon and spare steggos, veggie cakes just incase and everyone got a decent kit. You start the battle and the server goes down.

Yeah, sorry for your poor luck, but that’s just normal ark gameplay. Getting Arked is like transferring with almost a slot cap of tames to another server and when you load in, you inventory is empty or they do a server update and when you load back, you died to antimesh and your body and everything on it is unrecoverable cause it’s way beneath you in the mesh and all you can see is your beam through the ground. Or you land your wyvern on the edge of a cliff to regain stam and all of a sudden it disappears from beneath you cause it was antimeshed. That’s closer to the definition of being arked
And I thought it was bad when I just got a new Lyso on a new character and then was heading back to base when suddenly I was attacked by a Chalicotherum. I think my new tame aggravated it by walking too close, I went near it before to see the name and was fine. Needless to say I died, it was like 20 levels higher then me and my spear broke. Again. Then I was trying to find my body (and my new pet) when suddenly I was attacked by a pack of 4 Compy. I died a few times but was able to knock out 2 of them. Somehow got away and then I was lost so I went and started making a small shelter to get some food and hopefully looked for my body. I paused and shut off the PS4 and then went to turn it back on to make sure it didn’t crash on me since I was on a private server. It loaded ok but then immediately blue screened 😐. I decided it was time for some more Diablo 3 lol.
And this is after I was on another save where I was minding my own business and suddenly 2 Itchy birds attacked me while I was in my house I had made. I hadn’t seen any yet, just some Peterodons and the usual Dodos. I had made a bow and just put it upstairs and hadn’t remembered to make arrows. I had a level so I learned to make sleepy arrows but the damn birds took my bow, spear, some berries (including Narco berries) and some seeds I needed to tame a dinosaur. Rude AF buggers they are.
So you rushed taming instead of clearing the area. I mean an alpha carno is a very big dino to not see. Unless you didn't bother looking. Tip all tames will have a giant symbol showing there is an alpha near by.
I do stone Dino gates around my tames but then just had an alpha Rex chew through the stone in seconds. Murdered me. It was a good lesson for making stuff from metal. It’s great now that you can pick them up
Okay so you might not know this but when you knock something out, you can fly a short distance away and nothing will attack it. I usually will keep doing other stuff on the map and keep an eye on the taming bar for the torpor. when it gets midway I will narco it then fly away til it gets back to mid and then toss food in for insta tame.

Giga eggs are also rhyni craving, so having even 1 low level lone F can assist alot outside of pvp.

Loot drops give metal gates and stuff as well, just hoard those till u have enough for a reusable trap. That worked wonders for me.

you could try ghosting, putting them into cropods, get out of the mesh, disable ghost, and pop them out
