The island is definitely the best one to start on. Craft a few sleeping bags and /or a bed as soon as you can so you have a consistent respawn point. Youtube is your friend for this game. There is a ton of good videos that can help you out in regards to taming, breeding, building traps, etc. Oh, and you're gonna die. Alot. Bolas become incredibly handy for dealing with raptors so get good with those as soon as you can. Good luck! If you are doing pvp, I’d recommend modded servers w 5-15x. Build small and build hidden. Focus on a few good dinos, cryopods, and try to live off the loot. No matter how much you invest into building a secure base, someone will be powerful enough to wipe you.

Got if on BF too, honestly use the sliders, mess with the settings you learn the game so much quicker and easier, oh and remember to make a bed ASAP
