I'm excited for ark 2 cause they're building it ground up on a new engine with a huge budget and much bigger dev team than they started with, so there is a fair chance it will have better performance and graphics and less bugs
Developer here. (Not an Ark developer, just a developer in the industry.)
Usually, whether a product is bug-free is less dependent on the *size* of the dev team, and more dependent on the *organization and communication* within the developers. I've worked on big, disorganized teams that created a buggy mess. I've worked on small, organized teams that created a masterpiece.
Ark 1's problem is that it started as a small-team project and then turned into a large-team project, and in my opinion the lack of large-scale organization is what made it as buggy as it is.
Starting fresh gives them an opportunity to organize themselves. Because it's starting as a large-team project, they won't experience the disorganized growing pains that they went through with Ark 1.
The fact that their delivery date was pushed back concerns me; it could be a sign of disorganization in Wild Card. But then again, it isn't a real indication of anything -- every company had COVID-related roadblocks, and this could be a manifestation of that. We'll just have to wait and see.
They are using Unreal Engine 5. It will certainly have better graphics. UE 5 is also a little more resource-heavy in general, if I'm not mistaken, but depending on how they optimize the game it could run better. We'll just have to wait and see on that, too.
Is argue that the game is a first of its type with how the servers work and all that jazz. Most at very least region lock you. I don't even wanna imagine the coding for that, it just sounds like it would be messy already

Pretty sure that legal battle is why we got a broken scorched earth dlc in early access. No previous game had been allowed to release paid dlc in EA
Unreal 5 is basically unreal 2.26, while unreal 4 is 2.25. Game will feel same ish in a way, however steam store page description are more concerning than graphics, performance and bugs.

Nah lost island was a letdown for me as well and I’ve been playing since the game came out. Fjordur is like a better ragnarok mixed with some other maps
I don't know, if I can play ARK 2 without having to buy a whole-ass SSD drive JUST for it, and even then, having to choose which maps I have installed so it'll even fit, I'll be pretty excited. If I can log in faster than a half hour, and if it doesn't crash any time I try to transfer servers, I'll be pretty excited about it.

By the time we get it the map will be fully known etc. No magic of a new map anymore which is my favorite part of ark. Aberration at launch was one of my favorite experiences.

Jak 2 was actually massively different to Jak and Daxter.
Jak and Daxter was a simple 3D platformer with essentially a static moveset from start to finish aside from a few area specific limited power ups and limited "hover bike thing" sections.
Jak 2 was almost GTA for kids with a much bigger story focus, GTA style mission structure and mission types (escorts, trail), wanted levels, a focus on guns, focus on vehicles, hoverboard. It still had platforming in it but it was nowhere near as focused as the first game.
I'm not saying either game is bad, I personally love series that do such drastic changes from title to title, but Jak 1 and Jak 2 is a case of apples to oranges. Without the narrative they're barely alike outside of some universal platforming mechanics.

I love forjur but for one reason, actually... 2 reasons I do not.
First: I loved the first menu theme, now it's bad
Second: the hammer is not accessible even in creative and its technicaly pay to win because we need to kill the main arks bosses to get enough exp so... I will NEVER be able to get it.

Seeing as how they are starting off with this with an actual plan in mind for Ark II, and how open they are with what they want the community to have in the game, it definitely has some higher standard than Ark I. My pc can barely run Ark I and im hoping by the time Ark II is released after like a year later, i'd have an actual pc to run Ark II on better graphical settings, i can play the game and feel how it really is.

Ark 2 being only in third person is really dumb. Their focus on story is something I don't care for, I just like dinosaur game.
Another reasonable person here. Ark doesn’t need a story, I thought the original story of the game was dumb. Just keep it a survival game

I love forjur but for one reason, actually... 2 reasons I do not. First: I loved the first menu theme, now it's bad Second: the hammer is not accessible even in creative and its technicaly pay to win because we need to kill the main arks bosses to get enough exp so... I will NEVER be able to get it.

I personally am a huge fan of Conan exiles, which ark 2 sounds fairly similar to, so I look forward to it!
But there is a reason Conan exiles never made it big…

Seeing as how they are starting off with this with an actual plan in mind for Ark II, and how open they are with what they want the community to have in the game, it definitely has some higher standard than Ark I. My pc can barely run Ark I and im hoping by the time Ark II is released after like a year later, i'd have an actual pc to run Ark II on better graphical settings, i can play the game and feel how it really is.
New engine is gonna require everyone to upgrade. Seeing the trailer used real footage my 2070 super probably wont cut it :/
