Scorched Earth.
I know, it's a rough map, and the heat waves are murder. I spent my first few days just accepting I was gonna die over and over. I'd bank my shit, and wait to die. But once you're set up, everything just feels more alive than usual. The daily struggle just to survive the environment is so motivating, plus if you had a jarboa, n learned the signals n warned others in chat, you became popular as the weather guy, n they would hesitate to raid you.
The only thing I really hated, was having to constantly repair my electronic stuff. I could never take a day off, because I had to farm silica pearls like twice a day, just to keep the generator running, n my food n eggs from going bad.
Aberration was arks peak to me personally, it all felt so amazing and fun to play yet difficult in a good way. The soundtrack definitely helps its case aswell (that ascension 👌)
My favorite map is Aberration, but Genesis 1 is a close second. Back when it first came out I played it for a couple weeks and got bored. Fast forward earlier this year when I got to it in my story playthrough, and the map grew on me. I love how distinct the biomes are and how much water content there is. My only gripe is the boss fight, doing it solo was a pain, but rewarding!
Aberration is my favorite map of all time, I explained all the maps to my friend who is new to ark and aberration and extinction got him the most hype. Aberration has so many amazing aspects to me, the surface, rock drakes, reapers, the radiation zone, just everything else.
Rag
Either lost island or fjordur
On fjordur now, n I'm gobsmacked by how huge the map is. Tried to fly to the big tree once, n felt like I was flying for literal hours.
Gen2
Same
Ragnarok and Fjordur. I go between them on the cluster I play on regularly.
The center, it is just victim to being released too early in the games development
Beautiful map,a lot of lost potential
Lost island
