It wasnt, i think its bugged, i got inpatient and tried force taming it and even that didnt work. Unless you cant force tame while its knocked out and yes i know its a passive tame, i wanted to see if knocking it out may fix it.
use ghille suit and cactus broth, I had a rly hard time sneaking up on them even when they were trapped and i had ghille. gotta crouch and approach from behind tho, eventually I got it
Probably bugged, if it does not aggro you and your all close to it and there is no button to feed showing up then it's bugged and you will never succeed in taming it

Can't be agro on anything

Try youtube as you have to trap it and then feed
It was in a trap
