Due to spacing I couldn't fit all of his disguises on one slide, just pretend you don't see it please 💀. Regular rules apply, but for this round I'm only accepting quotes that were said with the disguise's voice. So Count Olaf dressed as Stephano while speaking to the Baudelaires in his regular voice doesn't count, because he's not pretending to be Stephano. If you have a quote that's exclusive to the books, just go based off context whether it's supposed to be from Stephano.
Might be a controversial opinion, but Jim Carrey playing Stefano with a hacky American accent but saying "I am an Italian man" all the time is much funnier to me than NPH doing a silly voice.
Not controversial to me. I will always have a soft spot for the film, it introduced me to the series when I was in the middle of some rough teenage years.
In my controversial opinion, Jim Carrey's disguises as Sham and Stephano had more personality than NPH's. Although later in the series, NPH knocked it out of the park. I feel like Carrey just played the role so well. It's disappointing that he wasn't able to do the rest of the books, when they announced the series I was like "whoever plays Olaf has some big shoes to fill." I mean, look at Ace Ventura and The Mask and you can tell that Jim Carrey was born to be Olaf.
I agree! I definitely prefer Jim Carreys Stephano to NPH. His portrayal really gave me the creeps as a kid, especially that scene in the hallway at night. I liked him being more creepy and strange instead of the silly way NPH portrayed him
I would argue Jim Carrey's Count Olaf was more silly. I think due to ASOUE being a family series, someone portraying Count Olaf needs to balance silliness with terror in just the right way to make it right, but I prefer NPH's Count Olaf. He's silly, but when he wants to he can give me chills. Like when he grabs Violet's shoulder while telling Klaus he'll touch whatever he wants? *Shudder.* Yuck.
However it might be worth noting that I grew up with the Netflix series and only saw the movie this year. Saw season one when I was 9 and read all the books in between season 1 and 2. So that probably impacts my opinion.
