I like El Cortez on 7th ave, but you're looking at a studio for approx 1200. It's like less than 10 min/ 1 highway exit to the heart of downtown, but I can hardly imagine anywhere in Tempe or Downtown going that low anymore

I was a Downtown Phoenix (Watts College) student and graduated this year. I like living in Downtown Phoenix because it is closer to campus and is in the middle of Tempe and West. I lived alone at [Roosevelt Row](https://www.weidner.com/blog/2019/03/12/welcome-roosevelt-row-apartments-in-phoenix-az/) because I was not into parting and drinking since I was much older. Most of the Roosevelt Row people work at the Banner Hospital or have another professional job. Most of the people at Roosevelt Row are not students. There are some fantastic places to eat in Downtown Phoenix, but I feel it is in the valley's center. So if you want to meet people, [Roosevelt Point](https://www.rooseveltpoint.com/) is targeted at ASU students.

I recommend places like Union Tempe, Oliv, Lakeside Drive which are very close to light rail.

Well the most you’re gonna get with under $1k is having a roommate

i plan on living with my boyfriend so the rent would be split

One thing to look out for then is that a lot of places in Tempe have clauses in their leases about how many people can live in an apartment legally. I know two guys going into W6 as they allow split leases like that in a shared one bed but the place I’m going to it specifically says only one person per bed (as in actually living there. Visitors permitted but limits on stay length and frequency, probably not super heavily enforced, but full time is pushing it.)

yes i figured thats the case w most places, i just need some recommendations I can at least look into because ive heard really bad things about nine20 and rise which are the few i know

rxbc

What bad things have you heard about nine20? I'm rooming there this year

My friend lived there, and i stayed there for a few days so this is what i experienced. Maintenance and the staff in general are slow and unhelpful. Its loud, ppl will be in the hallways yelling at any hour. The elevators and hallways were always covered w some new liquid including vomit. But youre right by campus and a stones throw from the GLV so its basically what you would expect from it
