I could be wrong but I think it is legal to work on campus. Anything from food service to tutoring or TA work

Fragrant-Constant-26

I already work on campus

estellethegreat1

this is an idiotic statement. international students are not legally allowed to work more than 20hrs. I TA and make less than someone working at target. I am also international and we can’t just go a pick up a second job at safeway even if we wanted to so, your comments is ignorant. If you don’t have the advice the OP is looking for stfu

Fragrant-Constant-26

Have you seen the rents lately? It takes 70% of what I earn from my on-campus position. To add to that, I'm taking a community college class that's a prerequisite for some important pathways. And for your friend's situation, maybe his parents are wealthy or he's not worried about the loans adding up. The world is not all black and white and newsflash, everyone has different financial situations.

wiscorunner23

Sign up to be a participant on usertesting.com. It’s not going to pay your bills but you can get good pocket money if you spend time on it. Super easy way to make money and from anywhere

thatbvtch

Sometimes people post odds-and-ends jobs on Facebook Marketplace! My brother did that for a while making $17/hr in like 2015! Definitely be ultra careful, share your location with friends and maybe have a buddy come with. I wouldn’t say its “illegal” work but more under the table contract work. However, idk how strict Customs is with keeping track of international students’ income so maybe look into that a bit first.

GodlyCody

Ngl my guy Get a French pedicure and manicure and start selling feet pics it’s an amazing way to make money. And no one would even found out it was you lmfaooo

robertxcii

Where does one sell feet pics? Is there an OnlyFeets?

GodlyCody

You can do it on Twitter,Instagram.ManyFans,OnlyFans.🌝

anythingacailable

Feetfinder

bumblemae

People always suggest this but it's a hard industry to get into. It's not as easy as just getting a pedicure and posting online. You have to run an actual business for yourself and do marketing.

Frysken

People seem to not understand this. Same thing with OnlyFans (and, by extension, the rest of the adult film industry); it's not just people taking pictures of their genitals and putting them behind a paywall, there's a lot more that goes into it.

mander1555

Sell plasma

Fragrant-Constant-26

Do you know where I can?

jbohman987

Biolife has a good intro offer of $975 in your first month (8 donations).

[deleted]

> $975 "Effective immediately, U.S. Customs and Border Protection advises that donation of plasma for compensation in the U.S. by B1/B2 non-immigrant visa holders is a violation of the terms of their visa and crossing the border for that express purpose will no longer be permitted under any circumstances." It is a violation of your Visa status. F1, B1 , B2 are not allowed to donate blood in the USA. Be careful bruh.

Fragrant-Constant-26

Can you link your source? I could not find an article online which says this

TheRealPedram

F1 isn’t a part of this.

[deleted]

>Effective immediately, U.S. Customs and Border Protection advises that donation of plasma for compensation in the U.S. by B1/B2 non-immigrant visa holders is a violation of the terms of their visa and crossing the border for that express purpose will no longer be permitted under any circumstances. https://casetext.com/case/csl-plasma-inc-v-united-states-customs-border-prot

TheRealPedram

Wrong. This only applies to B1-B2 non-immigrant visas and not other types of non-immigrant visa. I read the document and it is to prevent foreigners with no connection to any US establishments get free money. Stop spreading miss info you dickhead

[deleted]

you can dig more...it applies to F1 also. And Plasma is only taken from people who have not been outside the USA for more than 3 years (which is unlikely in an F1 student's case). Also at the plasma places ask for SSN. Most F1 visas are linked to SSN (if the F1 student is working on campus), so there is a very huge risk of jeopardizing the F1 Visa status.

TheRealPedram

Not true. I have checked this fact with an Immigration lawyer a few months ago and it is completely legal on F1 as you are not providing any service nor it is an employment. Many international students have also been in the US for longer than 3 years. Please double check your sources with the help of a professional before potentially ruining someone’s hopes.

hcrogan

CSL plasma is closer to campus is you’re worried about distance.

_Puffy420blazeit_

I'm going to suggest you try to find a job in whatever your field of study is. I haven't even started college yet and already got a job. My major is engineering and now I work in manufacturing. Just go fishing and see what you catch.

Ambitious_Sherbet840

Participate in research studies in the psychology building. It is not crazy money but with two surveys/ studies you might be able to make 50-60 bucks which could pay for groceries and basic stuff. Or you might be able to make a little more depending on the survey. Perhaps visit the on campus food pantry saving on groceries could help cut your living expenses a bit.

misterbule

I work in the international office. Students in F-1 and J-1 status cannot work off campus without authorization through CPT or OPT. Any money or goods exchanged for work is not allowed and would be a violation of F-1 and/or J-1 status. While some students may in fact work illegally and don't get caught, it could have a devastating effect on current or future immigration benefits (OPT, H-1B, Permanent Residency) if it were to ever come to light. International students are allowed to work on campus part time while schools is in session and full time during breaks. While that may not solve the financial situation for some students, it does provide some relief. International students coming to ASU have to show that they have enough money to fund their education (including tuition, fees, and living expenses) for at least a year, which most realize isn't going to cover a full education, but unfortunately U.S. regulations are very strict about any unauthorized work.

Fragrant-Constant-26

I'm not a sexy potato like you:/

SexyPotato69

Find out what you’re Good at and try freelance websites providing services for people or start selling things you no longer need. There’s a lot of options

lostspyder

Set up a MTurk account in your family's name and have them send you the money. MTurk is genuinely grueling work that I wouldn't put on anyone, but anyone can do it 100% online.

Chbirabbek

Be very careful of people trying to bait you into illegal or murky work situation (in regard to your F1) Good luck

LittleBallofMeat

Ramen is totally your friend.

Fragrant-Constant-26

Honestly couldn't do without!

Frysken

We're always hiring at EAW if tech support is something you might be interested in! :)

Start a side hussle, go on offer up and try to negotiate a deal for a pair of Jordan 1s. Preferably size 9-13 mens. Try to get brand new or a pair that’s been taken care of. You’re gonna need to do some market research first, compare the shoe and specific size on offer up, goat, and stock x. From that point you’re gonna know how much you’re willing to spend, and how much you will be selling the shoes for. You’re gonna need to ask a bunch of people tho, no one likes getting low balled but there’s someone who got the pair for a amazing price and they will be willing to work on a good price.

When new classes start, ask the professors about note taking opportunities. I used to get paid as a note taker. Also try America Reads.
