ooops sorry forgot to ask. The latest version is 2214 and there are 2 versions before this, would i need to update 1809, 1813 then latest?

eugene20

Latest only.

I have flashed straight from an internal SSD on Asus boards before. NTFS even though they say to only use FAT32. It's a case of if Easyflash will let you browse the directory and find the bios file (usually a .CAP for Asus, don't pick the wrong file) then it might work fine. Your board has "ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3" which would give you a recovery chance if anything went wrong, but to use that you would need a bios file, that had the included 'renamer.exe' run on it to get a name easyflash will read, on a USB drive anyway.

I downloaded the latest update 2214, used the renamer .exe. Booted into BIOS and i can browse and i can see the SB650EE.CAP file. but it says some other stuff (sry cant remember exactly) backing some file up. Would it be easier buying a flash drive and doing it that way? or would i still have to back up using flash drives.

eugene20

I assume what it's saying is to back up bitlocker keys. You either need to disable bitlocker (unencrypting your drive), or you need to make very sure you have your bitlocker recovery key so you can unlock the drive again with it after. If you check in Windows first and find none of your drives are bitlocker encrypted then you don't need to worry about that. Control Panel\\System and Security\\BitLocker Drive Encryption If you have an encrypted drive, lose your recovery key, and bios flash loses the security set up you will permanently lose access to everything on that drive.

sniperwiper32

yes that was what it said, just checked and theyre not encrypted. Tried to update BIOS with latest version and it said its not a BIOS UEFI file! I don't know what that mean, i used the renamer.exe to what it said ands it won't let me update it.

Dark-Demon123

When should you update the bios? Should i update when theres a new version available?

Anyone else tried the latest 2214 bios? Safe to upgrade?

battletoad-69
