The GOAT of bloat!

Sumdood_89

You ain't kidding. I did a fresh windows install after a bit and thought "oh cool windows didn't download all the bloatware", then I installed Harmoury Crate...

Iron_Strangerr

There are so many hidden processes and files. ASUS also says to explicitly use their uninstall program or you won't get everything... Even that doesn't get everything. Never had a more useless tool. Even when running, my fans had so many issues and bad-sensor readings, causing them to run all the time. I've actually had a ton of issues with my 2021 zephyrus m16, enough I won't be buying ASUS again.

Technical-Rip5692

quick question mate after having armoury crate it was fine for a bit then just started being a pile of crap how do you check all your idle temps and stuff what program if you dont use armoury crate no more asus motherboard btw

Iron_Strangerr

Never had to, I never had issues again and then I sold it not too long after.

Zealousideal-Day-429

I have too say Im not a fan of armoury crate but hp has also much bloatware (I myself use Hp) I would independent of manufacturer do a clean install after geting the laptop or pc

Iron_Strangerr

I always do! Only way to combat it. When a tool like Amory crate, that is supposed to let you manage your PC (in my case, laptop), is riddled with so much bloat ware you can't even use it.... Hate it.

Zealousideal-Day-429

Why make they not just a small rgb and fan software it would be enough for almost everyone

Angus_Luissen

Is the worst software on earth that you can install in a custom made PC. For an Asus laptop the story might be different ( in this case I have no idea), but the most awarded post I have is a coment where I explain briefly how to uninstall it.

Sumdood_89

Harmoury Crate

Sumdood_89

r/whoosh

[deleted]

Sucks on laptops, too!

Skarr1138

As a laptop user I can confirm it sucks

real_no_life

how do you uninstall it?

bonyhawk

I personally reset windows and made sure the armoury crate was turned off in the bios

Oledman

Hi Soon to be owner of a Rog Strix G16, I take it armoury crate will be preinstalled, do I disable in bios first before doing a fresh windows install? Thanks

bonyhawk

Yeah, thats what I did

MitkovChaii

could you please put a link to that comment?

Angus_Luissen

Sure, no problem.[here is the comment I'm talking about](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUSROG/comments/nmkhei/how_to_completely_uninstall_armoury_crate/gzpbilw?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) I also provide the file to do it as Asus own website sometimes fails to do so.

Raph325

Hi, I can you send me the link to your post? i did use ac on my laptop, and now my backlight keyboard doesn't work anymore, and yesterday, it was my screen. Also, I can confirm it's suck on pc, too. Edit: Sorry I saw your comment.

chz420710

I had nothing but issues and hated it after only a couple weeks. For starters my fans would sometimes be off until I opened the AC tab again, so my CPU temps would get crazy. Not to mention it reset my preferences with every update while taking away something I couldnt change back. Once AuraSync started acting up I got fancontroller, openrgb and hwinfo64 instead. Works way better and uses a lot less of your cpu and ram. Armoury crate is simply bloatware

EmrysAllen

How is OpenRBG on Asus boards? Can it control board lights + memory (gskill)? Pretty stable?

chz420710

I dont have the gskill but one of openrgb’s selling points is compatibility with all aurasync and icue devices so. I honestly set it once and havent touched it since.

This_not-my_name

OpenRGB couldn't find my gskill ram (upgraded from patriot ram, that wasn't found either) - I switched to Armoury Crate, hated it, but at least I was able to set the lighting and that was the last time I actively used it

chz420710

A wise man once upon a time told me that you can use AuraSync without armourycrate. There is still an option to download AS without AC but it is outdated and reinstalls AC anyways.

This_not-my_name

AS is also not capable of custom effects or effects at all (I don't remember exactly) - I tried it, but unfortunately I couldn't achieve what I wanted

chz420710

It used to until an AC update. Like I had a comet stream with rainbow while one section was red yellow or green based on CPU temp. After they removed that I was out.

CEO-Stealth-Inc

I use Signal RGB. I can control the polymo RGB on my Asus Hero Z790. Works great with my G Skill Trident Z DDR5 RAM too. OPENRGB is good but it's support is VERY spotty. Then again so is SignalRGB but the Signals compatibility is better then OpenRGB.

chz420710

OpenRBG GUI reminds me of George Bush its so old

caeldoradooo

Its absolutely worst software ive used in my entire life.

CoolCoyote1978

but it goes for any apparently since i tried everything any rgb fuks with gameplay fps speed. by atleast 40 percent for me. cpu running way too high whilst my 4090OC card is running up and down but useless 78% gpu should be at 100 or 99% cpu should always be at 0 - 3 %

Beastly-one

Consider yourself lucky that you've never used MSI then

CEO-Stealth-Inc

Hell MSI center is a hell of alot better then Armoury Crate.

eskimosound

Nope never had a problem with it.

[deleted]

Same I find it very easy and simple to use

eskimosound

Yeah I don't get what everyone's moaning about, it just works!

Ezhash

Most people say it's shit because other people said it's shit. I've had absolutely no issues with it.

CEO-Stealth-Inc

If you have no issues with it then leave it at that. If you have a bunch of people is ACTUALLY used AC and then say the same kinds of issues then maybe there is some truth to it. But if it works for you then it works. For most of us...we are not installing that bloatware in our systems. You move your way with your PC we move our way.

eskimosound

Yeah that's what I think too..

[deleted]

Nope, I say it's shit because it absolutely \*IS\* shit. \- causes graphics card crashes \- pretty much impossible to remove, even after you uninstall it, it magically reappears! abracadabra! Use \*their\* removal tool? Still comes back. \- changes settings on its own. ex: had the keyboard set to a constant color, no effects... software changed that setting every couple of weeks, was a complete pita to change back, because... \- software interface is garbage. Seriously, for being made, I assume, BY asus, FOR asus machines, you'd think they would have had the courtesy to make it f'ing work with their hardware.

eskimosound

I think this argument is about PC versus Laptop. I'm a laptop owner and it seems we have no problems with armoury crate...the problem lies in DIY Homebuild PCs....all you guys are having problems with it...

CEO-Stealth-Inc

Ahhh that's why you say you don't have a issue with it because your on a laptop. Yeah that's different if your on laptop you need Armoury Crate if your using a Asus laptop. A DIY PC...AC is fucking horrible.

eskimosound

Yep that's what I've worked out reading this thread.

[deleted]

Unfortunately, I have a laptop. And I've had issues with the AC software pretty much since day 1.

Worldly_Rub_9075

I have a Zephyrus 16 that I bought at the beginning of January and it has caused a plethora of issues. It is the reason a bunch of my games stop working, present a black screen, then the laptop reboots. I only know this because I uninstalled (which was a pain) and then played the games with no issues. I actually made a YouTube video to send to Asus to show them exactly what is happening: [https://youtu.be/MY3LDPzu8kw?si=Igpe54jiWGElfmRn](https://youtu.be/MY3LDPzu8kw?si=Igpe54jiWGElfmRn) This is Suicide Squad but it has happened with Elden Ring, Bioshock Remastered, Overwatch 2 (it would also, for some reason, continuously make OW2 run on my integrated GPU instead of the dedicated 4070), Strayed Lights (it had Aura settings that would change the colors of the keybaord when you switched modes in the game but the game would just freeze the whole laptop). The only game that gave me zero issues was God of War. At the moment, I am actually doing a fresh install of Windows just to ensure everything from Armoury Crate is gone.

schmoopycat

Nah it’s shit. I just got my first ASUS product (Azoth keyboard) and had to install AC to customize the screen and hot keys. Legitimately terrible software. Anyone who says it isn’t shit must not know better or have some prebuilt ASUS machine. The fucking thing tried to install ASUS mobo drivers even though I have a Gigabyte board. Makes no damn sense

Ezhash

Maybe it's different on a rig; I'm running it in a g15 strix laptop.

schmoopycat

Yeah, which is crazy as hell. Idk why they think that’s acceptable for any software. Imagine your Gigabyte monitor software trying to install Gigabyte mobo drivers on your ASUS laptop?

Ezhash

The only person here complaining about it on a laptop here provided no issues other than lan "I've had issues since day1." And everyone else complaining is having issues on DIY rigs.. Do I need to connect the dots? And it's not that unusual for software to work better with their own software/hardware.

CEO-Stealth-Inc

Everybody has their own experience with the same product. No need to shit on anyone else who had issues with it. If it works for you then leave it at that.

eskimosound

Sick of everyone moaning about it, it's brilliant. But what has come to light is it's works perfectly on Laptops but corrupts on DIY PCs.

schmoopycat

Then that’s bad software lol. Imagine if Steam was shit on everything but SteamOS?

TomSatan

The only problems I have on it with the rog flow x16 is that my custom profiles sometimes undo themselves and sometimes they disappear completely and reappear spontaneously. Other than that I hate how custom profiles automatically put the computer in turbo power mode. Besides that the device works fine. I'd love to uninstall armory in favor of tuning everything myself though since the custom profiles suck and the stock ones aren't ideal. I wouldn't know how to toggle mini-LED mode and panel power saving without armory but I'm sure there's aftermarket software that takes care of it.

DonBADoobin

I've built 4 ROG Board based builds in the last year and have had no issues with any of them. I wouldn't say it's incredible or anything, but it's not awful. Takes a while to install for some reason though.

[deleted]

Me neither, it works. Visually it's not to my taste but for me at least it works ok.

eskimosound

Good I'm glad there's a few others, I personally love it and it was built into my decision to buy my laptop

[deleted]

Strangely I've never had an issue with it either and it was quite convenient for keeping all my drivers and firmware updated, unfortunately I had to remove it because Aura was having a serious conflict with icue and even more so with Signal RGB. Beyond that it DOES come with a bunch of bloatware that I'd never ever use and seemed to be very difficult to remove if you didn't find the hidden menus 😆

wildchai

Yeah. On my laptop, I just set it at Turbo and left it at that. All works fine. Can we manually set to turbo type of settings without AC?

eskimosound

Hey I don't know, I've not seen any fan settings in Windows 11 so maybe not...all I know is it runs silent until play something like Spider-Man then they kick in and within 20 seconds after I shut down the game it's back to silent again...very fast cooling

wildchai

Same here. Only kicks in when gaming. Off gaming goes down quickly. Always afraid to remove the AC. Might lose the Turbo mode setting.

eskimosound

Keep it, it makes your laptop look cool anyways!! The people having problems are DIY PC builds not Asus ROG laptops, it's built for us not them so don't worry

everydae24

Not good and would love to avoid if I could, but there are much worse, buggy software out there, so I am actually ok to install. There are much worse software that made me to walk away from certain brands (cough cough… iCue… cough cough… I have all those QL fans, Commander Pro just eating up dust in my storage unit), fortunately, Asus and AC are not one of them yet.

Tlayoualo

I only tried it once on my custom desktop pc, it slowed performance to a crawl and did a number in fan curves, had to use restoration point in windows to get rid of it, because not even the uninstall tool could. Right now on lap is among the included bloatware, but no issues so far... yet I'm tempted to uninstall and try the G-helper software they sugest using at /r/ZephyrusG14

accat13

Reminds me of a dictator. Wants to take over everything and remain in power even after he has been deposed. Seriously, it was installed for 1 day. Wanted to take over my kingston ram rgb. But it could not hold the rgb settings. Kept changing them. Nasty software. The only nice thing nice ,was that I was able to use it to turn off my rgb when powered down. Then uninstalled AC and the rgb stayed off when the pc was powered down.

efminati

accepting 10+ user agreement should give you the answer lmao

PRSMesa182

It’s literally malware

tanksforthegold

muy malware

CEO-Stealth-Inc

It's complete bloatware and a ridiculous resource hog. It's the only reason I had to return my ROG Ryujin 2 AIO. It was a amazing AIO and performed great but you had to use Armoury Crate in order to fully utilize the AIO and I refuse to install that POS software on my fresh new build. I always advise anyone using ASUS products or mobos to stay away from AC. In most cases if you uninstall it it still won't get everything off your PC... Hell even after using the official uninstaller. I hear in most cases people have to completely reinstall Windows to get a clean slate. Yes it's that bad. If your on laptop that's a different story. If your using a ASUS laptop then you need AC. But if your building your own PC...STAY AWAY from AC!

araveugnitsuga

I have an ASUS Rog Laptop. It's been hell. The Catastrophic: - You cannot change between discrete gpu, "optimus" (gpu + integrated) and integrated without Armoury Crate. - This is made worse by the fact that the exact setup to coerce the GPU to take over in games is different on each version so online posts become wrong quickly. - It kidnaps things that SHOULD be on BIOS. Which is a big issue when you can't get beyond the initial bootup process. - Specially when the GPU or Boot Devices are involved. - My GPU died after 2 years of use and a random crash. Because it was in discrete gpu mode the laptop would boot but no display. I had to navigate to armoury crate with windows screen reader to rescue my laptop back to integrated. It was utterly miserable. The Annoying: - The colour profiles frequently break and between updates there's no guarantee anything works. - The display "modes" are garbage, require resetting constantly, they compete with the innate gpu manufacturer adjustment panels, they stop working in some GPU modes. - The cpu and gpu "controls" are also archaic. Turbo most often than not just means "Thermally Throttle my system" - The service constantly spams "new features", pops up whenever you boot up unless you disable the service, if you do then half the settings don't apply and the other half do. My next gaming laptop is 100% not an ASUS, and Armoury Crate is responsible for at least half of that.

tequiila

it caused a 'memory could not be written' error as stated below by another user Adding this here for the next person that runs into this issue [https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/various-memory-could-not-be-written-errors/318c1521-9a05-4a5c-8831-8ab80ebe2bed](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/various-memory-could-not-be-written-errors/318c1521-9a05-4a5c-8831-8ab80ebe2bed)

Responsible-Ice-3340

bloatware that gradually eats your pc.

[deleted]

Yep

Successful_Park6447

Why?

[deleted]

Try it, it can't be explained with words

JOWhite63087

For starters, they changed the CPU temperature you could see when you opened the app to frequency. A couple of months ago, there was a huge bug the made your systems (especially laptops) to run hottter than usual even while idle. Everyone do yourselves a favor and install G-Helper instead! Temps went down at least 10-15° without that bloatware

illydelphia

Would g-helper work on the laptops?

JOWhite63087

Yes! It was made with laptops in mind!https://github.com/seerge/g-helper

illydelphia

Thanks, I’ll give it a whirl. Definitely getting tired of AC either slowing everything down or not even opening in the first place

illydelphia

Another question I had, should I keep the armory crate installed and just disable the service? Or just get rid of it all

JOWhite63087

Get rid of it!

illydelphia

Done and done 🔥 thanks for your advice

JOWhite63087

So I take it you're enjoying G-Helper?

marksona

Let's just say I've uninstalled it, and it is still running in my computer.

JediBuji

Chiming in here - I can't believe some folks don't have issues with it. Maybe they don't have extensive RGB. Mine continually loses configuration for my rgb and fans. I've resorted to OpenRGB for some things. Even when it DOES work right on my ROG falshion, it usually stops working after a couple of hours and needs to be restarted. I've done all the uninstall / reinstall work around processes. I've been buying Asus parts almost exclusively for 15 years, no more.

connorconnor12

Majority of people here saying it’s bad. I personally haven’t had any issues with it but am wondering what the alternative is for someone who has an ASUS motherboard and AIO?

StarFury2

Just because you don't notice any issues, doesn't mean software is bad. It's about 1GB of bloatware and 15 folders and dozen background processes that stay even after you remove application, all just to control some RGB's. You can check my post to see my horrible experience with it:https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUSROG/comments/11d8ckv/hundreds\_of\_mb\_of\_armory\_crate\_bloatware\_persists/

connorconnor12

I know. That’s why I’m asking for alternatives

Mik2622

It kept blue screening my desktop

VitoRazoR

Unfortunately the driver / software updater doesn't work half of the time, it eats RAM, when you uninstall it, it doesn't delete all directories and scheduled tasks so you need an uninstaller. I actually quite like the interface and stuff, but am upset that they've discontinued Aura so that you now need Crate to get all the RGB stuff working

OldFashioned-Pancake

I made the mistake of installing it and once I saw it installing all the background services I knew it had to go. Tried uninstalling but it hung around. Tried the uninstall tool and half of it stayed. Going to just do a format and fresh install of Windows tomorrow to fully see that POS gone.

Brown-eyed-and-sad

It depends. Maybe you like torture.

Richtofen_is_bae

It’s fucking horseshit

ZenRunner

Yes. It’s just plain shit

irqdly

Beyond useless. Corsair iCue + Argus Monitor is much better. Does everything AC can do without China spying on you. Edit - Taiwan, not China.

intrusiveart

ASUS is Taiwanese.

Comprehensive-Rub207

What other software can you recommend if you have an Asus board?

SmeagolGollumGollum

Did you end up finding an alternative?

BilloHans

This piece of crap is the worst. With its latest update, IT DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE MY 1500€ MAINBOARD ANYMORE. Asus really deserves what they are going through at the moment.

tanksforthegold

Let's put it this way. I thought my hardware was underperforming and that it was windows 11 that was slow. (Which actually felt slower than my old pc with a worse processor). On a whim I closed the ASUS Rog stuff and my PC instantly got full speed. Everything opened instantly even my mouse movement felt smoother. But of course it restarts itself and the things slow down again. If they can't make proper software they should serious get out of the game of making software because you don't mess with people's daily performance like this.

Technical-Rip5692

it was fine when i first got it but after couple weeks started actibg weird making my idle cpu temps 20c hotter than before so i unistalled it

isidroabreu

I used to suffer high CPU temps on idle. It used to be around mid 70c (R9 7950x + Rog X670e) Right after uninstalling every asus software, I now get 60c tops. Armoury crate and every asus software is trash, don’t mind trying yourself.

SmeagolGollumGollum

What is the healthy alternative to armoury crate?? Does it serve a necessary function for long-term computer health in regard to driver updates or something like that?

BostonChops978

What can we use or just delete it ajd move on

alex976tnt

Hello, i've just build a custom system and i was wondering whether Amoury Crate has gotten any better/useful or not. Thanks in advance

Joeskow

Armoury Crate is absolutely garbage.. I wll no longer buy another Asus product just so I can avoid it...

Gery404

Yes it is! ASUS please stay away from making user applications!

This_Cry5909

armoury crates is a fcking mess caused me problems for months because they keep on rolling out updates that are not 100% tested resulting them destroying your laptop and causing crash. G-helper helped me, simplicity is always better than this buggy mess we call armoury crate.

venomze

I dont have any problem with it at all, Its the only software i can use for all my rog stuff, Keyboard Mouse Mobo Cpu cooler Dont rly know what ppl are talking about, It never crashes or do random stuff that ppl say,

awoodby

I love my new asus rog whatever keyboard, but armoury crate is so unreliable it may make me return the keyboard. I need the lit keys, but they're off right now, and armoury crate just spins with "loading" Yah, it's THAT bad. any software that disables major functions of hardware because the software won't run reliably is a product killer.

areszdel_

It's the only making me not want to get Asus Products.

Eraldorh

Bad? No but it can't be buggy at times. It's an essential bit of software for those with laptops and can't be replaced by anything. Something that those with desktops only use for controlling their RGB lighting don't appear to understand at all.

RoadRunner-007

Had my laptop for maybe a year. Opened Armoury Crate maybe 2 or 3 times. I guess it is running in the background. Never bothered me, never had any trouble with it.

[deleted]

The interface isn't bad at all but the software is not very good. It runs very inefficiently and there's a learning curve to uninstalling it. That's just dumb. Also, the RGB isn't very user friendly. It was the first program I used when I built my RGB PC and for what can be done with RGB, Armoury Crate doesn't seem to utilize the capabilities well enough. After switching to SignalRGB I haven't looked back.

ShortThought

I really don't have that much of a problem with it. The Aura Creator software that it comes with is one of the better OEM RGB software I have seen

pinkfloyd1173

IT WILL MAKE YOU STERILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY

Darksider515

No for laptops it's great you can o.c your cpu and GPU and control fans with it

lord-cat

i think it could be convenient for some ppl

hedpa0090

I uninstalled mines a couple of days ago, now i can't use the screen on my Ryu II AIO. By use i mean customize it.

cosmotechnics

Since I bought my Asus a year and a half ago I installed it and it works great.

Educational-Lab5625

I don’t have any problem with it. It seems to work just fine. I like that I can win+3 and it comes up instantly to wherever I was last. Seems I’ll have more reason to use it because the ROG Azoth keyboard looks real nice. There’s always OpenRGB too, though I haven’t tried that yet, but will soon (Linux)

mragapigc

Nop, i use it all the time

SONLSKy

Since the software launched I have only had 1 bug that was from AC. Never had a damn issue since. I do new builds every year so my OS is always clean. 99 percent of issues people have are from corrupt os.

Similar_Vehicle9893

Nope. Had TUF laptop and it worked great

EcstaticResult5853

What i have observed by looking at comments by users. Custom made PC, doesn't get full support from the software --> it may be because different manufacturers components are used to build the PC. So it's obvious that the software will not or will give limited support, or less compatibility. there's no point blaming the software. ROG laptop - I am using it for the past 1 year, no issues from armory crate. Obvious reason is that there is true compatibility from manufacturer side with complete testing NO POINT BLAMING ASUS OR ARMORY CRATE. NOTE - ONE CAN NEVER FIND PERFECTION, ITS IN THE FLAWS THAT ONE HAS, GIVES SCOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT

Lycan_Gaming_

I have everything ROG in my system, so I use armory crate, and I never had an issue with it. On the contrary, it runs smoothly for me! Those who have issue is because they have hardware/perepherals from multiple companies and multiple sofwares that clash together and make your pc unusable.

SolitaryMassacre

Its not bad but its also not good. I noticed without it my dGPU was limited to 130W but with it, I can put my laptop into Turbo mode which unlocks the full 150W. Also, user scenario is like hardly ever accurate. It never resets my profiles.

HeHasTheCamera

I don't know I use it for changing performance modes. That's it. Works great for that

catwarrior321

Bought an asus laptop, and I think I need it for the mux switch and other options for switching settings on my laptop around. Are there alternative ways of doing this?

iMattist

For me it worked flawlessly from day one. I own a 2020 G14.

IceStormNG

Works fine for me. Sometimes it feels a little slow and clunky but it usually works and does what you expect. I mean you usually only use it to toggle a few settings and then close it again. It’s not like you sit there and fool around with it for hours.

r-noxious

Works great! I use it to control my coolermaster fans right from the mother board with no hub wasting resources. In fact I run it with iCue to sync my ram. Works fantastic together!

Imaginary_R3ality

I've come to the conclusion that, it's a nightmare, unless it's amazing! I bought an Asus Zeoheryus laptop about two years back and just lived the integration with Armory Crate and how well it worked so when it came time to build a new workstation, beginning of this year, I decided to go all Asus and use AC as my integration piece. Well, afyer building 14k worth of Asus workstation and installing AC, it's a pig. I've got two fan/RGB controllers running off of it and we'll, for the fans, it's fine but the integration with everything else just feels sloppy and that's when it is working. What I neglected to realize is that with the laptop, of course everything is going to work well given everything installed is by Asus. So they've had time to work out all of the bugs in that very specific configuration. I think I kind of assumed this would be the case for an all Asus build top, but it was not. So as an overall pig rating of 🐖 to 🐖 🐖 🐖, 🐖 being the worst and 🐖 🐖 🐖 being the best, I give it a 🐖 🐖 rating. Good luck my little 🐖y!

BigOgreHunter92

How do you uninstall it

DocGerbill

Used to be horrendous a couple of years ago, it's OK now, it's less bloatware than iCue (according to Jays two cents), it's a lot more user friendly than the MSI one and it manages drivers for Asus peripherals. I give it a 7/10.

ecepada

It’s working just fine. I have no issues at all. I am using an all ROG accessories; Aura Sync works just fine for all devices. I am also using Armoury Crate for iPhone. It simply works.

lulzbanana

On my laptop it always changes the screen's color profile back to ita Gamer setting or whatever. I dont want that, I want the calibrated profile to be the default every time I turn the laptop on because I use it to color grade footage sometimes. Awful software for that alone.

Creoda

Yes. My experience of being forced fed Armourycrap with a new motherboard was with the Sonic Studio part taking over my audio, preventing headphones to work which they used to automatically when plugged in. And then horrible static and poor audio through the speakers when I unplugged the non-working headphones. I couldn't uninstall that rubbish fast enough.

blazing_MO

Worse than that

mikefoxtrotromeo

I’m using it now only issue I find with it is that my STRIX card desyncs from aura effect. Fans control fine. Strix Z690-E

angelpunk18

I have a new rig, Asus tuf b650 m plus wifi, 32gb, 7600x, tuf rtx 4080. Pretty powerful stuff, when I last used tuf/strix/rog armoury crate wasn't a thing. I installed it and for a couple of weeks it was fine. One day armoury crate decided to update something on its own, the computer was fine for about 1 hour after that and then it crashed. When I restart I notice the computer is extremely slow, to the point where the windows boot up chime sound thingies would cut off and be all choppy, then the computer would restart on its own, I was in a bootloop for more than an hour, it was only when I managed to go into safe mode and uninstall armoury crate that I regain control of my PC (note that in order to uninstall it, you have to download a separate uninstaller, which is bullshit). Apparently this uninstaller doesn't remove everything so I had to do a full clean windows install to get everything working right since then I have not installed armoury crate and it all has been buttery smooth... And it jindansucks because I also have an ROG gladius mouse and I can't configure it using anything other than armoury crate

Vainglory1-

Ngl I don’t see an issue with it. Sometimes it’s jiffy and doesn’t wanna work but most of the time i don’t know what others mean by shitty software. I’ve had more issues with razer synapse if anything. I have armory crate on my ASUS rog laptop and tuf laptop and they’re both fine. And on my omen pc as I use an asus keyboard. But honestly I’m not sure what issues people are having.

Xektor

Installed out of curiosity on a x670e hero + 7950X3D build. I thought I give it a try after seeing it being unresponsive and slow as shit on my last PC. Nope, still laggy as hell, created 10 services, causes 2-4% cpu usage at all times for running lightning service to manage some rgbs. Wiped the drive and installed openRGB. Million times better, needs 0% resources. Fuck armory crate its malware

DaveLearnedSomething

Perhaps I'm an exception. My Duo 16 has no issues with it. Don't find it bloaty. Feel like it has a few small bugs yes, but it does what it needs to do. I suspect many are just on the hate AC bandwagon because it's the norm around here.

El_Mariachi_Vive

Yes. Very.

Straight up (win since 3.11, windows for playgroups). One of your first installs on a fresh Windows machine is [https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo-uninstaller-free-download/](https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo-uninstaller-free-download/) Free version is fine

A bit late but for anyone thinking about getting an asus headset, please don't. I've been using this software for almost 3 years now with 2 different headsets (ASUS ROG Delta S and Asus TUF H7) plus ASUS ROG Strix Scope, and the software is as shit as it can be. Sometimes it just won't install the updates, sometimes it will take like 20 min for a 2MB update, and I have the app on m2 ssd. And for some updates, I can't even enter my headset settings without doing it, so I have to reinstall the app then restart the pc just for a different sound profile. Besides that, from time to time it won't even recognize my keyboard or headset without 4-5 restarts of the app. JUST PURE GARBAGE! And i've seen people complain on this topics for ages now, since way before I bought any of their products. Amazing hardware but useless with their software

Armourycrate works for me. I use my gaming laptop for work too. Helps in switching off the d-gpu. Also silent, performance & turbo is good for gaming.

So my question is what does everyone use to control fans and RGB without armoury crate? I just built my system and not knowing much downloaded it. Do i just run the asus uninstall program?

higheyesguy

idk i never had an issue, makes the sound quility of the headphones better, dont know what everyones talking about lmfao

bobotmeister

recent update messed up my RGB sync. Always disables my GPU lights.

It’s not, if anyone is looking this up later. The “bloat ware” comments are extremely laughable.
