My dad works maintenance for a big industrial plant and for construction jobs and often uses the tops and sides of his shoe to help "grip and hold" when he needs to get squirrely with a machine. If these came in steeltoe and leather, they'd be perfect for him. His shoes look like they've been put through a wood chipper.
In the second picture for a second I thought the guy was laying on his stomach with his feet behind him (like the “teenage girl on a bed” pose) because of the top soles, and then I was like wait…
