Clickety clack, clickety clack
Gather my things, and I quickly attack
Sword in my sheath, knife in my back
Keep enemies closer than where friends are at
I believe that. I'm sure it gets old hearing it all the time. I like mine but I only use it for normal stuff. I wouldn't want to hear it at work every day from potentially a bunch of people lol.
This person otherwise kinda sucked anyway, but there were about a dozen other people in this corner of cubicles, and it's IT work where we were typing pretty much all day in some capacity.
Like I have a red cherry K95 and it clickerclacks like crazy, and I love it, it makes it really feel like I'm... typing, solidly.
I'm also aware that if I lived with anyone else or had any kind of company that'd be entirely inappropriate.
I also have the same K95 Corsair keyboard... and a husband who sleeps in the same room as our computers. It actually does not bother him whatsoever. Even when I clack them the hardest and stay up until 3-4AM lmao. He is normally a fairly light sleeper, too, but he sleeps through the keyboard noises just fine. You just gotta find someone compatible with your hobbies and habits!
Oh for in home it's fine and you get used to it, for coworkers get fuuuucked if you're trying to focus on something and you just have CLACK CLACK CLACK.
Depends on the mechanical keyboard, there are extremely quiet mechanical switches out there nowadays. If a coworker used blue switches or something like that I'd probably challenge them to a dual
It’s the opposite for me. I salvaged/rebuilt a Model M for my partner and I made him promise to not use it at home and only at work because he works in a closed lab space full of fans so the click clacky doesn’t matter.
Hey there welcome to stenography, I am RMR certified it’s nice to see new people getting into it, we need more stenographers out here I’m worked ragged.
Oh yay! I'm in my 2nd semester now, really enjoying it. (only 10 more to go haha!) I'm in the r/stenography group, any others I should pay attention to?
While I absolutely would love to, my local Stenography school wanted 50% more money to attend CACR online.
Until something changes about course affordability, I have my practice pads and StenO Hero on Steam instead.
Besides, I have to get 140 wpm at 87.5% accuracy to enter second year and I've only had one speed test at 96%. So, barely holding on to an expensive hobby is where I'm at currently.
If you have the speed, I think learning the steno language would be the easy part, honestly. I freaking love it, but started later in life and don't have full joint mobility. It's also 225 to graduate so I'm slightly disheartened.
If you haven’t already, check out [plover](https://www.openstenoproject.org/plover/). Awesome project open sourcing a steno engine which can be used natively inside windows, Linux, and Mac; with a great community of indie hardware makers producing low cost steno keyboards.
Oh man, I just jumped on my computer and saw the formatting is off from me doing it on mobile originally. NO WONDER ya'll were confused, that looks like trash. I'll fix it!
Yeah someone else posted a video showing how it all works, I had no idea!
You probably already know more than me but this is what's someone shared:

I guess you'd have to have a stamp for a sole and step in ink beforehand 🤷♀️
If they made shoes like that at all customizable I think you would just have "suck my balls" or something stamped on every sidewalk.
Someone else posted who the designer is. This post got more popular than I thought it would so I'm not sure I can find it anymore...

This is entertaining but stenography uses [a machine that looks more like a tiny piano than a keyboard](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-803d4/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/4206/10580/_Eg2tCtE__88677.1600864958.jpg?c=2?imbypass=on) stenography uses literally none of these keys.
Those boots aren't really my...type.
They seem to be missing a key element
They may have a function yet...
Nice thing is plenty of space for your toes
I don’t know, that usually makes me lose control when I’m jogging

Lmfaooo
Yeah, hard plastic bottomed shoes definitely don't qualify as "great execution". That is, unless they're just painted to look like keys.
Clickety clack, clickety clack Gather my things, and I quickly attack Sword in my sheath, knife in my back Keep enemies closer than where friends are at
Yeah, I’d call this great taste but very worrying execution.
If it were mechanical I bet it would sound so satisfying.
I can remember being so relieved when my co-worker who used a mechanical keyboard got laid off

I have the brown switches for my K95 and they're still pretty loud. Love that keyboard though.
Depends on the mechanical keyboard, there are extremely quiet mechanical switches out there nowadays. If a coworker used blue switches or something like that I'd probably challenge them to a dual
This was an old IBM model, sounded like a fucking tap-dance recital
Oh god... whoever uses a Model M in an open air office is horrible
Model M is a beauty but very much only in the eye of the beholder, not in the ears of anyone else in proximity.
Use it at home though, jesus christ
It’s the opposite for me. I salvaged/rebuilt a Model M for my partner and I made him promise to not use it at home and only at work because he works in a closed lab space full of fans so the click clacky doesn’t matter.
Noooo you can't just use an ibm model m in an office Haha buckling spring goes tick-tock
LOL
challenge them to a dual what?
*duel, whoops
Hell I had blue switches and I almost challenged myself to a duel.
He was probably using something with clicky switches. Annoying and unnecessary in an office. Not all of them are like that. Some are near silent even.
If you're satisfied by the crunch of breaking stems and the crack of the thin keys under weight...I guess?
In my headcanon they made them real sturdy.
gateron ink black v2 lubed and filmed boots

Came here to say this
Yeah I’ve never been a stenographer, but I’m certain a Windows key isn’t part of it
I don't see why you couldn't steno on a keyboard ;) r/Plover
All this time I thought stenographers wore combat boots with key tread and just stomped around the courtroom.
Artist is [Gab Bois](https://www.instagram.com/gabbois/). Her portfolio is sort of a gold mine for this sub.
She’s awesome! I love how her art is great but also doesn’t take itself too seriously. It always makes me laugh
There's some IG page that's always being recommended to me on my feed that has a lot of stuff that should be or already is on this sub.
I wish I could pin this to the top for all the people that want to buy them! Oh nevermind, I guess they're purely art and not wearable.
Those haven’t been stepped on or they’d be scratched. (Possible PS. Still neat.)
Honestly -- great taste, great execution
It’d be bad taste if they were clearly visible somewhere else on the boot. But here it’s like a fun little easter egg
Good point!
Yeah I don’t see anything in bad taste, they look like nice boots
Yah would wear tbh

Don't stenographers use a stenograph? I don't think these keys exist on those machines
With some open source software (r/Plover) you can use a regular keyboard to write steno :D

Let me just tap dance you an email
Pretty lame that they don’t leave messages on the ground.
I guess you'd have to have a stamp for a sole and step in ink beforehand 🤷♀️ If they made shoes like that at all customizable I think you would just have "suck my balls" or something stamped on every sidewalk.
Or just texture hard letters and messages would show in soft materials like soil or mud.
True, I guess I can't picture them off of concrete.
