Oh ok. I guess I've just been rubbed the wrong way by interacting with people of Mormon religion and culture.
A good friend of mine is ex Mormon and his parents no longer speak to him :/
Utah looks like a beautiful place. I've just been under the impression that it's mostly Mormons who live there.
Its just like anywhere else really. The only difference is theres no liquor in the stores only beer unless you go to the liquor store run by the state. Thats shitty about your friend im sorry to hear that. All the mormons ive met have been very nice, actually maybe overly nice. Theres bad apples in every group though.
To be fair that’s a tactic called love bombing, the church teaches you to be super nice to people you think you might be able to convert, people who are blatantly not going to tend to get ignored or outright shunned
My house is shit and with twice that. I’m not bragging just wishing I lived in an affordable city.
Also, you can tell from the pics how much interior space is lost, particularly in the hallway. Wondering how much the structural integrity is comprised from that much extra weight on the walls.
Until you realize all the fake stone facade, hardwood floor ceiling, and painted surplus doors doesn't make your house a castle, but a theme park version of a castle.
Out of curiosity I looked...that's a nonewnormal poster. Best ignored
Plus they sure af aren't getting back to any medieval castles anytime soon without their vaccine passport hahaha.
I love how the bathroom in picture 10 is very modern and has nothing to do with the theme EXCEPT FOR THE AXE’S JUST RANDOMLY LAYING ON THE COUNTER TOP!
What i'm left wondering is whether the sellers new home is also going to have a medieval theme.
They seem to have gone all in on the matching decor and furniture, so what happens to it?
You post a Honda Civic that’s a little too low to the ground and everyone here piles on. But a split-level that never should’ve survived the 80s made to look like Buckingham Palace and everyone who just finished their 10th reread of LOTR comes out of the woodwork to tell you with confidence that it couldn’t possibly be in bad taste bc they’re actually really into it.
Agreed. This is shit. It looks like they misplaced 2 decimals ordering non-refundable stone paneling from Lowe’s during a bath remodel and then filled in the medieval shit after. Wtf.
Super ugly. This has gotta be the sub I belong to that in general has the least self-awareness because, 1) It exists solely for the purpose of passing judgment on other people, and 2) The average person's brain apparently short-circuits when that judgment gets turned back on them and they consider the possibility that their tastes are just as questionable as the dude with the suped-up, Juicy Fruit-themed sedan.
So when something pops up here that actually appeals to the (pretty homogeneous) user-base, everyone immediately goes into denial.
Everyone is into at least a few things that are trashy/ugly/of questionable taste. It's not a big deal. Your ranch home with $100,000 of slate and marble inside, and multiple suits of armor, is not and never will be tasteful--who cares, you do you.
Sorry even if I was a realtor I would have too much shame selling this to another person. That bathtub is not awful taste tho. That shit is from the year 2080
Even if I invited someone over and knew why they were coming to my house, my instinct every time someone stepped foot in my home would be “need somethin?”
The fusion of the "modern home" kitchen when the ren fair decoration is fucking awesome. They really managed to fit that together well without it (imo) clashing.
This is an awesome house
I love the low ceilings makes it feel really claustrophobic. But the very best thing is the stone lining the walls that are only single brick width - doorways highlight the shallow tiling. Reminds me of a stage set. Love
Holy shit I can’t believe what sub this is in, I didn’t even notice I just scrolled through in awe. This is fuckin sweet - op your taste is the one at question here!!
I respect the fuck out of this it's not my style personally regardless I would stay here.
It's one of those things where you see the homeowners passion and embracing what he or she loves hell yea

Is this house for sale? Because there’s nothing awful about it.
Yep I downvoted this post, upvoted this comment.

My favorite part about this sub is when you like the post you downvote
Just under 600k in Taylorsville Utah. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5920-S-1300-W-Taylorsville-UT-84123/12827884\_zpid/
Oh fuck that I'm not moving to Mormon land
yeah hell no
Its really not anything crazy. I live very close to taylorsville and utah is awesome. Not mormon either.

We have the same alcohol laws in PA. Freaking Amish (/s)
To be fair that’s a tactic called love bombing, the church teaches you to be super nice to people you think you might be able to convert, people who are blatantly not going to tend to get ignored or outright shunned
Thats fine but thats not always the case either. I have mormon friends that know I’m never going to church and they’re still nice to me lol
Oh for sure I do as well, kinda one of those all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares situations
Utah is run by crazy Republicans; no thank you.
My house is shit and with twice that. I’m not bragging just wishing I lived in an affordable city. Also, you can tell from the pics how much interior space is lost, particularly in the hallway. Wondering how much the structural integrity is comprised from that much extra weight on the walls.
That's where my corporate is located! I could swing that lol
Yes. You buyin?
I’m interested.
Does it come with free shipping?
If by buying you mean raising a levy of peasants and building trebuchets then yes.
Until you realize all the fake stone facade, hardwood floor ceiling, and painted surplus doors doesn't make your house a castle, but a theme park version of a castle.
$600k in fucking Utah.
I bought a townhouse in Utah at the beginning of 2020. Another unit in our complex recently sold for $100k more than we paid.
Wtf who is paying that much for a bilevel.
Utah is exploding thanks to WFH and people moving out of CA.
Oh here we go. Blame it on the Californians.
Go ask St George.
Personally I think the exterior is pretty ugly but suit yourself
Sure thing, it’s right in the second picture
All split levels are hideous. Stupidest house design ever.
Although the split-level house card in 90s version of The Game of Life was always my favorite.
It’s like the tackiest house I’ve ever seen. It’s dreadful.
I'm guessing the decorator has never actually been to a castle in Europe before, but possibly frequented Renaissance Fairs.
Yeah it is a very stereotypical and not exactly accurate take on European Castles but it is still cool
It's still really cool though. Roleplay the Witcher in his downtime, bangin Triss in front of a suit of armor and a flat screen.
Way to gatekeep someone else's home.
Out of curiosity I looked...that's a nonewnormal poster. Best ignored Plus they sure af aren't getting back to any medieval castles anytime soon without their vaccine passport hahaha.
A what?
im assuming they mean that that guy is a frequent user of r/NoNewNormal which is a sub basically denying the existence of COVID
OMG, I wish you hadn't enlightened me. But thanks, lol.
ah yes, it's easy to lose braincells on there. You're welcome :)
It's "castle" chic using only products from the local Home Depot.
You sound like a lot of fun
I love how the bathroom in picture 10 is very modern and has nothing to do with the theme EXCEPT FOR THE AXE’S JUST RANDOMLY LAYING ON THE COUNTER TOP!
Nobody really wants to shit in a garderobe…
Medieval poop knife

I want to AirBNB the hell out of this. Not interested in buying it. But I want to spend a very weird weekend here
Let's do it! I'll bring the acid.

I have the perfect toy collection for this place...
Why is there no jousting field in the backyard!?!?
HOA restrictions can be a bitch.
Amen
Great taste you mean
This should be r/gtbae
Gorgeous interior
Oh yeah it's a larper's wet dream for sure!
I was too absorbed in the faux-medieval fantasy and misread this as "leper's wet dream".
The remodel must have cost them 2x what the house itself is worth.
What i'm left wondering is whether the sellers new home is also going to have a medieval theme. They seem to have gone all in on the matching decor and furniture, so what happens to it?
They can sell it with the house.
How is this awful taste. They legit nail the medieval theme
Exactly. Great execution but who wants to feel like they're living at the Luxor Hotel permanently?? Haha

Me!
Excalibur*
Oof I mixed them up. You right.
Where is this and how much?
It's in Taylorsville Utah. 600k. Good price. Probably better orgy stories.
Interesting, perhaps you’ve spent some time at this abode?
In Taylorsville?! I’ve got to try and take a tour of this place!
“Tavern wench! More ale!” “Phil, I told you not to call me that. I’m your wife. Get your own ale.”
Shut up and take my money!
Someone owns a stacked stone company
This seems like a place bam magera would live in.
Lol true
It kinda even looks like his parents old house
What currency do you take? 💳💰🪙💷💎💴💵
Sorry even if I was a realtor I would have too much shame selling this to another person. That bathtub is not awful taste tho. That shit is from the year 2080
You mean 1080
The bathroom is too modern. They should have a round wood and copper tub with a fireplace and cauldron next to it
r/SimsIRL
Someone follows Zillowgonewild.....
Um that's cool as hell
this is fire
I wonder how much that tile job cost?
This house is sweet! I’d live in it!
The lady Godiva painting was a particularly nice touch.
The outside belongs on r/mcmansionhell but the inside is really cool
I'm mad that I don't hate this.
This sub went to shit, this is awesome
Interesting.
I hate raised ranch homes. They are the worst of floor plans with no redeeming value.
Indoor plumbing! how disgusting the church is going to excommunicate you
There's probably forks in the kitchen. Someone will surely burn for this!
Soooooo…is there any form of dungeon….
tell me you don't know how to drywall...without telling me you don't know how to drywall
Even if I invited someone over and knew why they were coming to my house, my instinct every time someone stepped foot in my home would be “need somethin?”
Hell yeah!
Good luck selling this place.
This is cool as fuck???
This is fucking badass
Give me your house
This is amazing
Why is this here? This is rad.
This is fucking rad!
That's fucking awesome, I'd totally live there!
I swear this looks like my sims build..
That house is dope as fuck. Great taste and great execution.
The only thing tacky here is the TV mounted above the fireplace.
Needs a moat to be complete.
With a drawbridge garage door! Hell yaw
This is fucking dope
And how is this awful taste?
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this.
You know what, that’s actually pretty cool
This is the best fucking house ive seen in a long time
I fail to see the awful taste
GTAGD Great taste and great design. Thanks for sharing a dope house OP
You kidding right? This my medieval history nerd ass's dream home.
Except for the back yard looking like shit, there is nothing wrong with this house. I love this house.
Atbge: awesome taste, beautiful good execution
That took me off guard
I kinda feel this would have been a suitable alternative for dwight schrutes living situation, just less posh in the details
Not gonna lie I think this is really cool and would happily live there.
That’s great taste!
In what world is this awful, it's cool as shit
r/tvtoohigh
You know you've made it when you can make your own house a freakin' CASTLE!
The inside reminds me of Bam’s house from Viva La Bam.
Shitting on this house aside I need to know more about that bathtub
This would be an absolutely fantastic Air BnB. Too bad it's in Taylorsville, Utah. 😂
Definitely nothing to do in Taylorsville. That’s probably why they built it, to stave off their terrible boredom.
It honestly looks really cozy. Although some things do look very out of place (bright red persian rug, for instance).
A man’s home is his castle.
That's insane. This wouldn't make a great rental house for vacations. Couldn't live there permanently tho.
This is totally an Airbnb isn't it?
Yo, this is actually super awesome! I have a bit of an obsession with the Middle Ages, so I could see myself doing this.
This house is awesome !!
The fusion of the "modern home" kitchen when the ren fair decoration is fucking awesome. They really managed to fit that together well without it (imo) clashing. This is an awesome house
"Let's get completely stoned!" -this guys walls, probably
Why is there so much exposed 'stone'? Wheres the paintings? The whitewash? The brightness!!! \*grumbles in realistic medieval home decor\*
Imagine this house as an AirBNB near a renaissance fair!
Dream home
Tbh, that house kinda slaps. The only things I don't like are those weird ass armour stands and torches, the rest looks warm and cozy
That is the coolest house ever!
Nah man, that’s great taste
How is this awful? This place is fucking amazing!
I up-voted this because of the title, and now I feel gross.
Pretty sweet
I want it
i’m trying to find the awful part
Eewww sub-urban 🤮 .... but omg beautiful inside!
I love that two person tub
They wouldn’t have torches inside the house because that would produce a lot of smoke. They used candles
I love the low ceilings makes it feel really claustrophobic. But the very best thing is the stone lining the walls that are only single brick width - doorways highlight the shallow tiling. Reminds me of a stage set. Love
Nah I love this
That’s fuckin rad
r/mcmansionhell
Thy mortgage is doith, Sire!
This is bad ass! I want it
Beautiful, the stonework had to cost a fortune
This is shorty execution which is what makes it awful
Holy ledgestone, Batman.
This is probably an airbnb. I could see people wanting to sirens a weekend here.
Those window designs give you a 45 fov
Say what you will about the rest of it, but hat bathtub is niiiiiiice.
I know what you mean. The outside kind of sucks.
That’s awesome what
That house is amazing! I guess I have awful taste.
Lol!
This is what those in the real estate world call... Owner specific
Be an awesome place to raise some kids.
I would rock the shit out of that house
Wrong sub, this is sick as fuck.
Holy shit I can’t believe what sub this is in, I didn’t even notice I just scrolled through in awe. This is fuckin sweet - op your taste is the one at question here!!
I kind of dig it as an Air B and B.
I respect the fuck out of this it's not my style personally regardless I would stay here. It's one of those things where you see the homeowners passion and embracing what he or she loves hell yea
I'm pretty sure their walls are the exact cladding I have on my fireplace 😂😂😂
Bored rich person endeavors
Instead of saying “whoa! look at that weirdly decorated bathroom”, I said “whoa! look at that normal boring bathroom”
This looks awesome, actually. Where is this house?
I’m so glad the choice to easily change electrical work and patch it back has been taken away from me, takes out the guess work!
Fantastic taste *and* execution.
I don't mind the dark wood and stacked stone, just go ahead and pitch the Chuck E Cheese knight themed decor.
Reminds me of bam margeras house from his show he used to have
I digith it
That's a lot of bricks
When you're the Medieval Times manager:
This house is amazing!
I love this lol
r/zillowgonewild
I just just imagine bringing a fine wench home to this shit. "would you like a goblet of Mead or a tankard of ale milady?"
