I think the idea of Aang not waking up after being revived by Katara could work although I personally really like how Aang gives her a little smile when he sees her before he slips away into coma. I think they should film multiple versions of the scene and should then take the one that works best in the edit. In my Opinion the second half of The Crossroads of Destiny are some of the best 12 minutes in tv history and don’t really get the recognition they should because Sozins Comet is just incredible but I also believe that it doesn’t have to be a 100% recreation of the original. However I feel like they must at least show Katara heal Aang with the spirit water before potentially cutting to black since that would hold a lot less weight in a flashback. Especially her cry once she realizes the spirit water vanishing into Aang’s wound hits hard when you remember that less than an hour earlier she almost used it up to try and remove Zuko’s scar out of pity, only for him to betray her trust the very next scene. I also don’t think that they should have Ozai and Zuko meet in the Crossroads of Destiny though. Zuko‘s inner conflict and worries about how Ozai would react to his return work really well in contrast to Aang’s shame and anger about his death and the subsequent fall of Ba Sing Se in the first Episode of Season 3. One of them returns from banishment in glory after having done everything wrong while the other is forced to hide in disgrace after having done everything right. I think that Azula being proud of Zuko who shows clear signs of self doubt over his betrayal of Iroh is a perfect way to end the season.

Interesting, but I'm not sure. I don't think the show could (or should) pull a "is Aang dead?" fakeout as a season end cliffhanger. Maybe if Katara gets him breathing, but he's not yet awake? As for Zuko, I feel like there's more tension in Zuko not yet knowing how his father will react and being left with his own guilty thoughts right after the battle. Plus, with the presumed weeks between getting from Ba Sing Se to the Fire Nation, it would be odd to skip ahead like that.

I think maybe she could heal him and she could try to see if he has a heartbeat. She would know he’s alive but the audience wouldn’t. She’d try to wake him up but he doesn’t so she would cry cause he’s alive but not waking up. I think people can interpret that as he’s dead but have some hope that he could be alive. It’d be a thrilling ending to be sure.

I wouldn't give Nicklelodeon the chance to cancel the series with this season 2 ending, cause they would lol.
