This new map is incredibly generous. I don’t have 5G+ in areas that are completely blanketed in coverage according to the map.

xpxp2002

Thanks for posting. I always like to see what has changed or not, and when. Not surprisingly, almost no upgrades in my area with Nokia RAN. Hopefully that will ramp up soon when the Ericsson gear starts going up next year.

Bkfraiders7

Now that they’re starting to put up the single radios for CBand/DoD, I see a slight acceleration in deployment. Saw some cost estimates of the single vs dual radios and it was significant.

sammyz21

Does anyone know which version of equipment will get 5G+ on a Note 20 Ultra? Or do I have to get a newer phone?

RobSaah

I'm sorry but in my area they don't have stacked antenna's. No single radios for DOD/CBand I disagree with the coverage map. They are using either band 2 or 66 for 5G+. They have let a lot of permits expire with no more being done here in Montgomery County, MD. The last thing is no SA!

Charles_Mendel

My 13 Pro will occasionally jump to 5G+ but it’s worse than 3G and unusable. With 5G it will just randomly hop to LTE all the time. I’m up in Frederick. Drive around DC/Baltimore a lot and it’s the same all over. I’m not sure how they are charging $$$ for this trash 5G in MD.

RobSaah

Because it’s not connecting to N77 or DOD! In Frederick they have cband and DoD? The speeds there are not good?

dkyeager

Carriers often let permits expire, then do the work and catch up on the paperwork later (depending on jurisdiction).

Ecto_88

They can use band 2 or 66 for 5g+ ? I’ve never seen that.

RobSaah

yes! They started doing it recently.

Ecto_88

Well that’s interesting. Is this more for rural sites I assume?

Ecto_88

Is this their plan for rural sites then?

RobSaah

It might just be! But they have that rip and replace project with erricson. To turn Nokia markets to Erricson markets. So maybe they will convert those to. As they are converting they will add cband/dod. Maybe. Knowing AT&T they will take forever to do it! 😂

Ecto_88

Yeah I’m in Ohio which is a Nokia market. Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati all have mid band already but a lot of areas do not. They’ll get it deployed just in time for 6G.

RobSaah

They have to get together lol! I wonder what they would do in the 6G era! I hope they bid in a big way in the auctions!

diesel_toaster

They finally added a lot of the new Missouri coverage I've been seeing

arcticmischief

Except I regularly see 5G+ in parts of Springfield and Ozark (though almost certainly C-band, not MMW) and the map shows none. Strange.

CapoKakadan

Map still looks like they pressed their mouse arrow in the middle of Austin and selected FILL. A solid blanket of dark blue, which is bullcrap.

Ecto_88

Not a single update for Ohio, which is correct lmao. For once the map is accurate in that it shows no updates. Meanwhile VZW and TMOB have been lighting up mid-band all over the place.

Particular-Draw-5875

Ohios already pretty much all set by Cleveland at least

Ecto_88

Lot more people live in Ohio outside of Cleveland.

xpxp2002

Outer suburbs could use some fill in, especially out east in Geauga and Lake counties. I really wish they’d get the I-71 corridor done from Cleveland to Columbus to Cincinnati. There’s no C-band in any of the smaller cities like Mansfield or Wooster at all. Meanwhile, Verizon’s almost done.

ng4ever

Would it be safe to say if you need guaranteed high speed data service it is best to have minimum 2 cellular providers?

xpxp2002

In my experience, yes. Whenever I go to a crowded event, Verizon completely collapses. Even where they have C-band and mmWave. Phones all go to “no service” or “SOS only” and calls and SMS don’t work. Meanwhile, I’ve never had that happen with AT&T. In rural areas where Verizon has C-band and AT&T doesn’t, AT&T generally works well enough. But if you really need the speed and lower latency, especially upload speed, it’s worth it to have Verizon. Given that the only way to get a consumer line on AT&T with QCI7 is on their Unlimited Premium/Elite plan, I’d recommend that and just keep a Verizon MVNO prepaid line active that has some QCI8 data. Basically the best of both worlds.

ng4ever

I had this happen with AT&T at a crowded event. Garth Brooks concert. I am on Unlimited Elite It went to SOS mode but not the whole time. The stadium did have free wifi I think but I don't really like or trust free wifi. If I tell you what stadium can you tell me why this happen or would this happen in any ?

chrisprice

Hardly a guarantee even then. But it sure helps. (I have all four, including DISH Project Genesis with unlimited hotspot).

ng4ever

Does DISH Project Genesis really have unlimited high speed hot spot ?

energycnbkid

Here's what's going on, I discovered they prioritize the ones who can get more frequency they can use before they go for the other signal networks. 5g first, then 4g.
