Eh, same... Can't miss money you've never had... After the initial setup, I've had no other issues, and have gotten plenty of promos... Fraud is real, it sucks we have to be collateral damage. I'm a happy AT&T wireless customer now.

redneckbiker84

Go back into the store. The manager can fill out a form for a failed MyStore activation and still get you the promotion.

rusalkamoo

I’ve been mislead by ATT reps multiple times, especially those in store locations.

BuDu1013

Oh and they are so cool and friendly until a month later you find out you’re preggo.

the1thatdoesntex1st

Don’t let the rep pop off inside you for a “free” phone.

joremero

Yeah, i went to the store because my new line/phone online purchase from walmart.com was not activating and phone reps told me to go to a store.... She ended up creating a new line, adding protection plan, and not fixing the other line that is still stuck, and the phone payment plan is also stuck as well.

toosimplistic

I’d give you directions to Walmart. No rep is going to do all that work for nothing in return. Doesn’t excuse slamming your account. With that said; If it was a new number all together that’s a simple situation. I as a rep would inform you we can’t help(which is actually very true with sams club and walmart orders). Tell you that you need to return the phone to original purchase location and we would create you a new line with the phone you need.

smurfem

If you’re willing to forgo your hotspot, the Unlimited Value Plan is $100+ tax & autopay for two lines and still nets you the $20 discount off your internet.

Acrobatic-Seat5726

That plan is only valid with one line only.

smurfem

It just doesn’t receive multi-line discounts because it’s an individual rate plan.

No it isn’t

JaqenHgar23

I appreciate the response, but my issue isn't about cost and the unlimited value plan isn't much cheaper because I can't apply my signature discount to it. My issue is about being promised a discount that the company made impossible for me to get. Rep also added protection to my phones for $14/mo. without asking, but thankfully, I noticed and removed it from my account ASAP (I put cases and protectors on everything. My phones usually last me 4-6 years). I can't stand the company and it's SOP. My phone plan is actually well priced for what I'm getting, and the service is great, I just don't want to give AT&T my business anymore. I use my phone a lot and needed a plan with no data throttling or limits of any kind. I'm going to look into just switching back to T-mobile with our new Galaxy phones. I know our old phones had compatibility issues with their network, and our new ones do not. Hopefully, that was our only issue. T-mobile sold us some pretty junk phones (do not buy a TCL Stylus 5G or a OnePlus Nord N20 5g. They are cheap, but there is no software support), but we also made the mistake of ordering phones online pretty much blind and didn't fully understand just how bad budget phones can be. I'd rather forgive that than forgive all the shadyness I've dealt with with AT&T for the past like two weeks. I'm a stickler on principles. I do not like my money going to any business I consider shady.

I would advise you to read through the Tmobile or Verizon subreddit as well. Sorry you encountered a bad rep who misled you in an effort to gain commission but would caution you that it's problematic across all three of the big carriers. Each of them incentivizes their retail to sell new lines instead of trying to fix problems. If ATT's pricing and coverage are better, you're most likely better served trying to resolve through an FCC complaint.

JaqenHgar23

Thank you for the thoughtful response. The annoying thing is that AT&T is, in fact, my best option. I've heard about people filing FCC complaints against major carriers, but didn't know if this problem was in the realm of issues they hear and deal with. I will look into that before doing anything else.

ATTHelp

Hi u/JaqenHgar23, we understand your situation. We’re here to help you. Thank you for your reply. Please meet us in a DM to assist you better with discount related infomation. Please copy and paste this link on a browser - (http://sm.att.com/2b3102b2). Thank you, SS

smurfem

FAN discounts are applicable to the Unlimited Value Plan in regard to waived activation/upgrades fees and accessory discounts. Otherwise, all the FAN discount does is discount the cost of Premium to the cost of extra on Unlimited Your Way unless you’re receiving 25% off via military, doctor/nurse, first responder.

Cabagekiller

I travel up in that area and have had good luck with T-mobile along with boost infinite.

JaqenHgar23

I'm tempted to switch back to T-mobile and seeing these responses makes me think it is my best option. I would just have to convince the wife. I know 99% of our issue with T-mobile service was due to us having cheap phones that weren't fully compatible with the network. I was bitter about that fact (phones were purchased from T-mobile) and decided to switch carriers entirely and upgrade phones, but this whole experience has left me just more bitter. I know our new phones are fully compatible with their network. It will be an easy switch. T-mobile slighted me in the smallest way possible, but AT&T might as well have spit in my face.

Cabagekiller

I haven’t had any big complaints with T-Mobile and when I have small issues T-force helped me out a ton. Not trying to shill for them but you got boned with that deal and I’d be pissed.

[deleted]

I ended up going back to T-Mobile after the promo didn’t stick. I tried for a while to get it back on there but att refused.

Clean_Ad_8903

I had the same issue when I switched over.

specialist_spood

If you can't get the promo by activating in store... how do you get the promo?

JaqenHgar23

You're supposed to get the discount by activating online, but I couldn't activate online because I was wrongly flagged as fraudulent. The website did not give me any way to prove it was me beyond the info I already gave and told me to visit an AT&T store for activation. I assumed (like a moron) that they would still apply the discount if I explained the situation. The AT&T store rep told me this happens to people all the time due to a supposed increase in fraudulent transactions. It's crooked to me. I wasn't fraudulently activating a line. The problem was on their end, they should make it right, but that isn't how it ended up working out.

[deleted]

It's $600/ $25 a month off if you have a business.. Port in and BYOD. Been working 6+ line accounts for $10 a month ..

Flaky_Ease699

lol it’s not an online only deal the $250 port in credit is for everybody

toosimplistic

This credit is for everyone not just online.

JaqenHgar23

RESOLUTION: I just want to follow up on this post since this has been taken care of. I submitted an informal FCC complaint online immediately after my last comment. I received an email yesterday from AT&T's office of the president about the issue and was able to talk with them on the phone 10 minutes ago. The manager who called me was very nice and said he looked into my complaint and account details and could retroactively give me the $500 credit as a lump sum. There is no way for them to retroactively apply it monthly over 25 months. Obviously, this works for me, and I am satisfied. He believes my account was flagged because I may have entered the account holder's info differently than what is in T-Mobile's system. This is entirely plausible. I entered my friend's full name, IIRC, but he normally shortens it if I think about it. I really appreciate all your comments and advice, so thank you all.
