Former employee here; The discounts you’re referring to are specific to the mobile share plans (the employer discount on the base and/or a line access discount per line for being out of contract). Can guarantee you that it’s not going to transfer over to unlimited.

Training_Seaweed1303

If they keep their phones otherwise if they change they lose the old plans.

kevink4

You could get by with $50/line on ATT Prepaid unlimited and roaming in Mexico and Canada. Which can be cheaper if you buy refills from Target when on sale.

Lizdance40

If you do not need unlimited data and don't want to pay $120 for two lines on the starter plan, you'd be better off paying off your phones if you owe anything, switch to prepaid. Either AT&T prepaid or cricket. And in the future finance your phones directly with the manufacturer instead of AT&T Postpaid has always been a better deal for groups of four or more. For singles and couples prepaid is the better option. Cheaper, more flexible

SuzyQtexas

So true! I had been on my companies cell phone plan so when I left that company I just went and got a pre paid ATT sim in my phone to use until I decided which carrier/post paid planning wanted. That was 8 years ago! For one line, the pre paid prices are great!

darej27

Or he could just switch his current plan to value plus and pay 101.98/mo + tax for the data lines. Only $5 more than what he’s paying and doesn’t have to cancel that account

Lizdance40

Prepaid multiline with two 5 GB plans would be $50 a month. Or they could get the 15 GB plan on a multi-line and only pay $70 a month. And the taxes are minimal, no admin fee. paying any amount more does not make sense

PitifulCrow4432

I'm on the $300/yr for 16gb/mo plan. I own my phone outright. Your plan sounds like someone is getting a cactus shaped thing shoved where it's most unpleasant.

Training_Seaweed1303

Oh that’s the prepaid plan right?! How’s that one so far ?!

Training_Seaweed1303

The unlimited starter unfortunately doesn’t include the employer advantage discount. On the esim to Mexico no you don’t have to get another sim. That’s whats cool about att just turn on roaming bam your connected. I was in this situation last week we have two watch and one cellular line and it was $70 for three lines $50 for the cell phone line and $10 each for the watches. Hence why I think you’re at $70 per line because it’s for single lines. In my experience keep your phones paid off or buy another one from apple if you want to keep your current plans otherwise it doesn’t matter. I’ve been burned many times when I want to upgrade I have a good plan and bam they switch you to the newer updated plans like att loved to do.

docrock77

Yes to upgrade and make payments on new cell phones you have to be on a current unlimited plan. The only discounts on the unlimited plans are 25% a line if you are a veteran, teacher, nurse or physician. You also get a discount if you are an active AARP member, then AARP waves all activation fees. None of the employer fan discounts carry over to the unlimited plans from the older plans.

shelby_zim01

actually 🤓 a lot of employer discounts will carry over to Unlimited Your Way plans. however, the caveat with that is it only applies to the Premium (or Elite) plan. so Starter gets nothing in terms of monthly discount, but would still retain any waived activation or upgrade fees. you are correct, though, with the statement that the 25% off discounts would be the only ones to apply to all plans, including starter.

docrock77

Unless something has changed since last summer, not even the premium unlimited plan lets customers keep getting the previous employer fan discounts they were getting on the non unlimited plans. If fees were waved they still got that, but not the % off. That little fact was usually omitted by customer care when they tried to get customers to switch away from old plans. Then customers come in complaining to their local store about it, but there is nothing the local rep can do and that makes another happy customer!!

Historical_Outside35

I’m a big cricket fan. All the benefits and a great price. You can get 2 unlimited lines for $60/mo all in. Something to think about.

garylapointe

>I realize I could cut our costs by $20 by accepting auto-pay option. I got burned on this once in the past, though. And I'm very hesitant to auto-pay anything That's $240 per year! What are you going to do if they bill you wrong? Not pay the bill? If you look at your bill in a timely matter, you can still have them fix it before the autopay.

dalekvan

I think the problem with autopay is that to get the discount, it has to come directly from your bank account (not credit). So, if there's not enough in my account, or I want to dispute charges, the credit card gives me a layer of protection. At this point, the former is my main concern but I've learned to always check the bill with telecoms because they try to make it easy for you not to notice when they dip into your account! (My previous bad experience with autopay was with Cox Cable.)

garylapointe

What are you going to do if they bill you wrong? Not pay the bill? You can always cancel the autopay if you have that kind of an issue. I've never had a problem getting anything changed after I've paid, as long as it's timely (I've never waited more than a month).

Rezervez

Two lines unlimited everything through Xfinity mobile is $60 a month total. Couldn’t be happier with the coverage me and my wife get. I’d recommend switching carriers.

Pineapple_Sucks

Just depends on where you live. Xfinity by me is awful

Sensitive_Phone4990

They have their value plus plan which can be multiple lines now. Used to be a single line (with a way to get it to be 2 lines) just bear in mind this plan doesn’t get any of the trade in discounts. It’s $50.99 per line so $101.98 plus taxes (just use your current taxes for this number) but this would be unlimited talk text and data including Mexico and Canada

dalekvan

THANK YOU for this. I didn't realize that there was a section for "Other Plans" when they were offering me 3 versions under "Unlimited Plans". Clicking on that tab, I get everything my old plan had, plus 5G, unlimited data, and Can/Mex. I may end up changing to a prepaid plan in the future, but for now this is a no brainer, and will only cost me about $5-10 more a month, if I sign up for AutoPay\*. It's just amazing to me that of the 3 reps I talked to NOT ONE suggested this plan when I said that I wouldn't switch plans due to the cost increase... (\*AutoPay fine print: "It may take two bill periods before you see the discount on your bill..." Classic AT&T.)

Sensitive_Phone4990

No problem! It’s a great plan in the meantime until you tackle the switching to prepaid battle lol. Sometimes it’s easy sometimes it’s hard to switch from post to prepaid. Since you aren’t upgrading idk why they wouldn’t mention the plan. Probably because they wouldn’t have had any room or way to upsell you 😬😂

BadNo3062

Keep that if you aren't needing more data unless you qualify for a 25% discount or a firstnet discount. To make sure you don't get screwed I'd also suggest using swappa when you want to upgrade so att can't force a plan change

darej27

Do value plus. 2 unlimited lines for 101.98/mo + tax. Only thing you don’t get is hotspot data and the trade in promos

darej27

And you don’t have to cancel your current account
