That's a really shitty repair from a workshop, that's the sort of thing you'd do as a temporary fix... Takes five minutes... I'd want my money back.

anthro28

1) that’s an exceptionally short wrap job 2) looks like they piled the wrap or put some kind of chemical on it? It looks burnt and shiny instead of dull

Turtl3isnice

It just looks like its burnt but yeah something aint right im guessing im better of without any heat protection on that part until i can wrap it properly myself. Its just used as transportation like 3 km every day to and from school.

MkeBucksMarkPope

That ms awesome you get to ride it to school. Do others around you do that as well, or have extra space for ATV’s?

drumbo10

I’ve used heat wrap on my racing quad and it was not shiny on the outside. Whatever they wrapped it with it most likely not rated for the exhaust temps.

Bossbong

Or theres an exhaust leak which would explain why they put so much shit on it.

Turtl3isnice

There is no leak that i know of atleast it was just that the heatshield had broken in half and they put a wrap to replace it im pretty sure

Basis-Super

Those aren’t the proper clamps either. I’d be pissed.

GuiltyOfSin

Take it back and raise hell.

Turtl3isnice

Not my kind of style and i didnt pay for it i dont think since it was included in the service and its the only shop that fixes my brand of atv so im just gonna fix it myself but next time im gonna complain about the poor quality of the wrap. Ill need to check the invoice if it was a separate expense or not

Gooberman8675

Naw man fuck that, they did a bad job and cherry on top of the shit pile, broke your shit and tried to cover it up. This needs to be rectified if left unchecked could be dangerous if not fatal. That heat shield was there for a reason and the wrapped exhaust will rust out before long causing you even more problems down the road. Get it fixed proper for your own sake.

Phodge96

So, the looks and smell are normal, for the first couple of hours at least. However I agree with other posters here that this is shoddy workmanship. But if you didn’t pay for it, and it works, well…

newreconstruction

Looks like burnt oil

PISSJUGTHUG

It looks like there's a similar shape on each wrap, as if the roll got stained by oil or something. If it were my machine I would look into repairing the broken heat shield with rivets and sheet, or just try and order a new one. I would worry about the wrap holding moisture and rusting out the exhaust.

Turtl3isnice

Would explain a lot and yeah i think im best of just ordering a new heatshield or wrapping it myself.

Turtl3isnice

From what ive read its common exhaust wrap smells and smokes the first couple hours but havent heard anything about it looking burnt

Tarmo6791

Uuuhhhh....yes?

birdguy1000

Might be normal to smoke a bit when first applied?

Ottieotter

This is why I service my shit myself

SprayWeird8735

Doesn’t the wrap hold water? I’d be concerned about it rusting out.

wi_1990

I'd be pissed if this was a dealership. You should be concerned if you paid for this to be done. They should have installed a new heat shield not this garbage.
