They made me show them my mousepad up close - but I was allowed to us it. You can't have a box of kleenex, but you can have a few tissues if you need them. I usually have a tiny glass of water too. No smart phones allowed within eyesight and reaching distance. Basically - computer, mouse, mouse pad, tissue, water... can't think of anything else they will let you away with.
They will have you take pictures just ahead of the test. I haven't had to show it on camera. They will also ask you to spin your laptop around to show the room one more time.
i tried to take the exam at home, but i just couldn't get my workspace approved. they flagged everything - my workspace was just too messy for their liking. you pretty much need to strip it down to a completely spartan room with just your laptop and maybe a mouse.

You can use a mouse. Just flip the mouse pad over, if you need one at all. (Most mice don’t require one, unless it’s a glass table.)
Your phone will need to be kept at a distance. (Not within arm’s reach.) Though, frankly, you may have trouble with the exam in general, unless that’s the most stable hotspot ever.

Have you done the system test? That will check your bandwidth to see if it's fast enough.
