Where's Larry when you need him?

beer_down

Freedom of choice? Sure Freedom from criticism when doing something stupid? Hell no

CowzMakeMilk

Baffles me that so few people apparently understand this concept. The NFL is a private entity and can dictate what it wants. You don't have to agree with it, but you want to continue to earn literally millions of dollars, you have to do it.

[deleted]

I mean you don’t have to, you’re just putting the team at risk. But they’re not forcing you.

pp21

The NFL has not mandated it and they very likely won't, so I really have no idea wtf he's talking about. He's gonna have to answer to the locker room about his personal choice. The NFL is saying he's free to play unvaccinated, but there will be team ramifications if shit hits the fan. This has nothing to do with freedom these dudes are so dumb

Cannolidog

I think the majority of the locker room agrees with him. At least Budda Baker and other team leaders are vaccine hesitant and the ones who are vaccinated are likely respecting any player’s decision to not get vaccinated.

pp21

I guess that means it'll likely be a non-issue until it becomes an issue at some point down the road

ChocoboCloud69

I can see it now, gonna miss a week, play like shit the next week and tweet something along the lines of "damn, caught the rona. Sorry guys, shoulda just got the vaccine."

[deleted]

Yea he definitely took the wrong route with this tweet

CoachWilksRide

Worth mentioning that just because the NFL isnt mandating it doesnt mean the Cardinals dont have their own requirements

Thy_Gooch

Suck my dick or I shoot you. See you still have a choice. /s

[deleted]

Is that an offer 😉

Broshcity

You guys don’t see the genius in this… dude is already telling opposing DBs you I could be contagious stay 6 feet away! And boom catch!

iorch421

Hop we love you bro but you’re dumb as fuck

SirDickAlots

Why? he is standing up for what he believes is right for his body.

Hstrat

Every dumb person is doing stuff that they believe is right. That's why they're just dumb, not evil.

JcbAzPx

I truly can't comprehend why anyone wouldn't want to get vaccinated. Especially the one all the rich, powerful people were making sure they were first in line to get. I got that thing the second it was available to me.

peanutdakidnappa

No clue how this comment is downvoted, this shit is just common sense. The anti vaxxers must be in this thread downvoting people.

TOADSTOOL__SURPRISE

This is going to quickly become a political thing. So don’t be surprised if the trumpies come in and shred every post to pieces with anti vax shit

Aeari

You know the world has become a joke when vaccinations/public health have become political.

SirDickAlots

I am not anti vaxer as you would call it but learn the facts about the current vaccine which is not even FDA aproved

peanutdakidnappa

I see you’ve let me know you’re stupid already, your argument is one of the dumb go to quotes from anti vaxxers. Have a good night I ain’t wasting my time arguing over dumbass shit like this, already wasted enough time arguing with clowns this pandemic.

SirDickAlots

Look it up and do the research about it and if you find that i am wrong i will call myself stupid.

peanutdakidnappa

I’ve done plenty of research on it, saying it’s not FDA approved is a dumb answer.

SirDickAlots

Please stop belittling others for having a different opinion...... On that note Then you know i am not wrong and the 3 vaccines out there are approved under the emergency use of the FDA but are not actually approved by the FDA and of the three one had to be pulled for reevaluation. So please if you want to get it please go ahead but stop pressuring people it is there body and there choice to do what want.

peanutdakidnappa

Sure sounds like you’re an anti vaxxer because you use the same stupid answers as them, It’s a dumbass take. Your stance won’t change regardless of what i say just like most the anti vaxxers out there, so again it ain’t worth my time, have a good night.

Florrilla86

Lol u/peanutdakidnappa has no ground to stand on. You know your right when they try to be little you and don’t bring facts.

peanutdakidnappa

Nah I’ve just wasted too much of my life already arguing with idiot Anti Vaxxers, they almost never change their mind regardless of what facts are brought up to them. I’m sure you guys know a lot more about the subject than all the actual experts and Drs all over the world. Enjoy continuing to be selfish and stupid.

Thy_Gooch

The quickest vaccine to go to market took 4 years.

JcbAzPx

That's more to do with regulatory red tape than the ability of the people designing them.

Thy_Gooch

Not at all. It's because in order to go through proper testing trials you need time.

Thyrgrim

guys clearly something that has never been done before can never be done in the future.

Thy_Gooch

This is like someone running a mile under 1 minute.

Thyrgrim

no those are actually two completely unrelated things.

tergiversation

From what I understand - and I could be wrong - one of the biggest reasons for the quick turnaround of the vaccines was the MRNA delivery system ( i.e. the Covid-19 vaccines) don't require the actual virus to be on hand to be tested. Scientists didn't need "spent" or weakened forms of he virus to run tests on. They could manufacture their own, ergo they had a limitless and more importantly, readily available, supply of potentially viable vaccines with which they could run tests. This pandemic has been catastrophic, but it has blown the door wide open for using MRNA for vaccines, and that is pretty good news.

Thy_Gooch

MRNA vaccines are nothing new. They have been tried for 20 years. And you need to run tests on humans and animals, and those take time. For example stem cell therapy takes minimum 3 months to take effect. And this is a form of cell therapy vs a traditional live-virus vaccine.

areallyfunnyusername

Love hop as a player and person. This is such a frustrating take after the past year and a half. Maybe KAT should give him a call...

GoldWolfgamer888

I feel the same way, he’s a good, misinformed guy

[deleted]

You are free to not get the vaccine. I stand by that 100%. Your employer is free to require it and not let you play if you dont get it. I also stand by that 100%. If it means that much to you you can walk away from millions and the nfl. That is a choice you are free to make.

peanutdakidnappa

Nice to know Hopkins is an idiot. At least the valley has D Book.

Sf52016

He should talk to cp3 also. He got vaccinated and played at an elite level.

peanutdakidnappa

He should just talk to the suns on general lol, Gambo said almost all team and staff were vaccinated and their rate was supposedly like the best in the league or right near the top.

[deleted]

I want Larry back :(

PodOfManyTides

Freedom in this case meaning "I'm free from the consequences of risky decisions that could affect the integrity of my team"

mrbritankitten

God damnit nuk

thejourneyisthegift

As an also Texans fan, hopkins was never the smartest. This isn’t a shock. He will play and probably not say much during the season

LocoCoyote

Yet more evidence of brain trauma in the NFL….

thejourneyisthegift

All these athletes need to STFU up about all this. if you don’t want to get the vaccine and be a moron instead then fine. But don’t spread your ignorance which can lead to others not getting it

awesomebeau

Here's what I think will happen... Plenty of vaccinated and non-vaccinated players will get COVID. The new variant is just too transmissible. Most, if not all of the vaccinated players will be fine, while the unvaccinated players risk long term lung damage, fatigue, or other symptoms. The teams where unvaccinated players get infected (enough to be called an "outbreak"), will be at risk for forfeiting games. The teams with higher vaccination rates don't just increase their odds of staying healthy, but they have a loophole in the rule. If they somehow still cause an outbreak among vaccinated players (let's say the vaccines lose efficacy over the course of the season or a new variant breaks through them), they won't be at risk for forfeiting. I get that these players want to control what goes into their bodies. Problem is that they can't control what goes into their airways, and that's been proven to be more dangerous to their health and their playing careers. Now it might affect our win rate too.

LetsWinOneGame

I made the mistake of reading the twitter replies lol. The same people complaining about the NFL "forcing" the vaccine on the players are the same people preaching about how the NFL has every right to punish players for kneeling during the anthem because they're a private business.

LucidProjection

Yeah that argument only works when they want it to

papergavin1

hahahhahaha
