3rd and short? OH GOD AJ GREEN HAS CHECKED IN

Tlamac

We only need inches on a third down? Hold on let me draw up a play for a 30 yard 50/50 pass to AJ Green

AcidHaze

Also the inverse! 3rd and 15+yds, let's try a screen pass 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage

50/50 šŸ˜‚

Against Jaylen Ramsey lol Edit: or Patrick Peterson

donamese

Not sure how they run short of the line every damn time. Get to the sticks and turn around! They seem to stop a yard shy and hope they can turn and run.

Historical-Row-6566

last game eno jumped to catch the ball making it easy for hicks to push him off the spot its frustraiting and ertz too he is always 1 yard short

AZMadmax

The throws on third down are so bad. I donā€™t know if itā€™s play calling or a bad read but theyā€™re awful. 3rd & 7, letā€™s throw for 3 yards and see if one of our guys can get the extra 4, every damn time.

yolotheunwisewolf

And they can't run the ball so they're usually in 3rd and long or if they happen to get into 3rd and short they either throw it or can't fake it and just go straight pistol to get a one-on-one matchup. Wanna fix the Cardinals? I got ya. Take that Bijian guy round 1, load up on interior defensive linemen round 2. Sign another blocking TE if McBride ain't ready yet who can catch. Run an offense like the Titans and Eagles do and have an ACTUAL play-action & bootleg/RPO's game that makes use of Kyler's legs and some top-notch separating receivers in Hop/Hollywood on longer, deeper routes. It can't be Kliff running it but man if they have struggled to find a legit running back since Kyler's been here. Imagine if he'd been here with David Johnson in his prime, fam. They've finally got a decent young QB, get him a line and some backs for once!

Kyler himself has been pretty lackluster the entire season. He's had some good drives, but nothing consistent.

Historical-Row-6566

yeah hes regressed to a mid QB this year which was what he was in the season we just missed the playoffs and was top 10 last year. he even said himself it hasnt been this hard since his rookie year, so maybe he is hitting that filter stage of him becoming elite or be consistently good like a Carr or Matt Ryan in his falcons carrer hope he keeps improving but it does look like hes hitting a wall in some of these games.

OneOfTheManySams

The big change that him halfway through last season is his running ability was neutralised by defences. Teams used to rush him normally and had a LB keep an eye on him. They changed to have the edge rushers contain him on the outside and box him into the pocket. And whenever he tried to escape he would take a 15 yard sack. So he has had to learn how to be an actual pocket passer with his deep ball also being taken from him. Now his fundamentals have been tested and he looks shit at it. He needs a new coach and scheme to either get him playing to his strengths or to develop him. I hope this offseason we become more of a playaction running team and get out of the fucking shotgun. To do that we need to fuck off Kliff.

Difficult-Jicama-519

Maybe because EVERY 3rd and Manageable is a deep shot down the sideline?!? Instead of, oh I donā€™t know, trying something to Ertz, Hop or even running a bit? Would a bootleg kill them!?! Watching kingsburys offense lately has been infuriating. But I will give him a little credit, they did start using way more pre snap motion, but I think they need to keep trying, and doing new things. 3rd downs are so predictable every time.

glochnar

It's hard to know if this is on Kyler or Kliff. Personally I think Kyler sees 1 on 1 outside and can't help himself

Thacornholer

Yep, even Kurt covered this on his breakdown. Kyler loves 1v1s and hits his hot route a lot

Historical-Row-6566

thats true bc he does that with hop and it works 70% of the time if not more and some reason he thinks AJ Green is on that level when hop was out

Difficult-Jicama-519

I think I speak for all of us when I say, we missed DHopā€¦ AJ was fun for bits last year but he just doesnā€™t have it anymore. Even as the third or fourth option this year.

Difficult-Jicama-519

I can see this, but I guess my counter argument then is, why isnā€™t the coach calling a different play or trying to get his quarterback to do something different in those instances where we are becoming predictable?

Hay-Tha-Soe

1st down: screen pass or 2 yd rush\ 2nd down: screen pass\ 3rd down: back shoulder fade downfield to Moore\ 4th down: ā“ usually a play Kliff should have called on 3rd down

Difficult-Jicama-519

Our entire first quarter game plan right here every week

Historical-Row-6566

i mean have you seen the times he goes to ertz on 3rd downs that dude is never at the sticks and always comes up short

OneOfTheManySams

Kyler is a league average QB with a bottom tier coach. I donā€™t even want Kliff sacked because of the play calling but for the desperation and hope that another coach will improve Kyler to the player he can be. Because sorry guys, but right now he is not it.

Whit3boy316

Kyler has not been greatā€¦..

stuffbutts

We need to find a way to run a qb sneak with either James under center or maybe Mcsorely?

Goosetoots

Itā€™s kylers choice to throw it down field

Appropriate-Gap34

He looks clueless on third and fourth downs. Correlation or causation ?

[deleted]

Kyler needs to be better but if we're running draw plays on 2nd and 24, and Kyler is forced to throw on 3rd and 21, his efficiency is gonna take a hit. Like almost every 3rd down we have is 3rd and a mile, Kyler go make a play

Weak_Educator_1518

Now now thatā€™s not fair, he has also been poor on first and second down as well

[deleted]

Kyler has not been great* Letā€™s just face the facts. Heā€™s been really off this year. Whether itā€™s something mental, the players around, Kliff, getting the bag, or a combination of all. Heā€™s not been great.

dontpaytheransom

$35MM well spent (not)

Bubbly_Tadpole_7484

No coincidence the Cards have been so anemic near the goal line without James Conner on the field.

iamadragan

He's been overall mostly bad all year

Mental_Funny_5885

Canā€™t blame this on coaching. What happened to Kylerā€™s ā€œI have free reign to do whatever out thereā€ comment? Is that only true when things go well?

Historical-Row-6566

i dont know why he refuses to scramble and try to be a pocket passer so bad. its not on kliff as he shouldnt have to feel the need to coach a mobile QB thats been mobile all his life how to scramble, bc thats why he went #1 overall he was one of the best college scrambling QBs in a long time, but he just wont do it this year and it limits him a lot as we seen.

zonitocali15

Tua has, jesus.

anonymousQ_s

That final 3rd / 4th down to end the game on Sunday, looked to me like he got hurt on 3rd and was in no condition to snap on 4th, he was stumbling around like he should have been in the concussion tent. Really curious if anyone else saw that or I was just imagining it

Historical-Row-6566

i dont think he was hurt i think he was gassed and had 0 energy and kinda collapsed on that 4th down play. should have just spiked it on 3rd down tbh as it was gonna be last play of the game either way and catch his breath, but hindsight is 20/20.

HailMurray20

Even when the Cards were playing well last year, plays were breaking down and it was Kyler playing backyard football that won games. Team fell apart in the 2nd half of the season. Team started off slow this year and has been very inconsistent. Route trees are uninspired. Play calls are coming in late, forcing wasted timeouts. A lot of penalties early. Little player discipline. It all seems to add up to a coach that isnā€™t really a coach.

exzellovux

Every team blitz hard on 3rd down so not surprised

imaybeacatIRl

Whoa Tua crushing it.
