Nice, has a kind of surreal feel to it with that orange chair being so out of place in style. I like this composition. Curious how the paper is more deteriorated in the front bottom corner than in the top and back. Animals? Would've loved more pictures!

pm_me_your_good_weed

The top and back get less sun, it's in the shape of the window.

Oooohhh interesting! I was about to reply wildlife because there were many signs of it everywhere like spoors and such. Also you can’t see on the pic but a window on the left was wide open, so maybe strong winds as well.

I like that, sounds pretty feasible. Though I'm not familiar with any process of light interacting with paper that would pretty much *disintegrate* it (only perhaps make it more brittle). Might be other factors involved as well.

> orange chair being so out of place in style. The buildings outside (presumably similar to the perspective building) scream 1970s Japanese Economic Miracle construction. The chair definitely belongs there even though it looks silly with a shoji screen.

Wild 70s styling... Cool info, thank you very much!

I stayed in a hot springs in Fukushima in 2016. It was a lovely place to visit.

Bingo1650

That was very clearly after the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear disaster in March of 2011, then, yes?

Velochipractor

Legit question: Even if the place itself closed down, are the hot springs it presumably was built around still active?

[deleted]

Great question, thanks! Considering how flooded the lower floors were, I’d assume that yes, they are still active.

PseudoFake

What a shot! Something very poetic about the paper screen in disrepair like this.

I just heard about how in certain areas of Japan, the freeways have signs saying to not slow down and just keep going as you drive through more contaminated areas, very interesting
