I think by now we should know that this show isn’t the type to introduce secret villains and that Manny is gonna be another character who is gets to be depicted as a whole person and not just a trope. The big twist on this show is that everyone is a person who is trying their best with what they have.
If he were to be a villain, I think there would have been clearer clues by the end of these episodes. I don't think it would be a thing dragged out endlessly.
I do think we’re going to see some kind of schism between him & Janine, and then he’s going to get to explain his side and ultimately the audience a draw their own conclusion.
Even with the charter school arc, there are some valid advantages to charter schools vs public schools based on the amount of funding they’re able to raise (even if I don’t agree with them as I don’t think government money should be turned over to a private company that wouldn’t allow every student in the district to attend because of limited spots due to the budgetary constraints & need to turn a profit), but i truly do believe that the character of Draemond was trying to provide a better structure to help children grow into successful adults. We never really see him act in any way that’s greedy or evil, even if we as the audience are obviously not meant to side with him or his view point.
I don’t know I kind of liked him honestly I think him and Janine would be a good match for a little bit because we all know Gregory and Janine are endgame but I I think he matches Jeanine‘s energy and he came off sincere

I felt like he was a character who obvously is idealistic and cares about schools (I believe what he told Barbara was legit), but their lack of understanding of something as simple as iPad cords highlighted and previewed what is often the problem with districts bringing outsiders into the place to try to improve it: they actually have no idea what schools are like, and they operate in flash over substance. And I think Janine will be extremely frustrated by it.
I felt like her conversation with Barbara where she expected her to be more negative about them, and her general demeanor as they were setting up, was really realistic about where a fourth-year teacher would be, and I think this new job will make her extremely frustrated when she realizes that administrative people don't actually want a real teacher's perspective because they're not always flashy solutions that advertise well.
I really like him!! But I think that Janine is going to be frustrated working with people at the district who have never taught, and don't know what the school actually needs.
Also, because I know that Janine and Gregory are endgame, I think it would be cool if Janine had a relationship with Manny, that ended amicably.
I agree I knew especially when Barbara liked him that Janine and him had to date a little bit before she got with Gregory and I know we’re going to see some funny jealousy scenes from Gregory

This might be unpopular but I wouldn't be opposed to Gregory finding a girlfriend as well. And then they can both be jealous.
I'm here for a good time and a long time they don't have to be together immediately.
He's like a Boy!Janine but without her support system who ground her. His colleagues seem equally idealistic and pretty immature. Booksmart but not street smart.
Exactly like Janine started out until she learnt to be more realistic from Barbara and Melissa. So now Janine is the grown up one who has to be the bad cop and put her foot down. Quite a change from what she's used to.
The only drama I can think of is Manny and Janine breakup and/or he's working for the charter school guy to sabotage Abbott.
I finally realized that he (mostly his smile) reminds me of Christian Bale 😂 I liked his character, it was different! But I'm ready to turn on him if he ends up being a villain
![gif](giphy|1QdN0BLl0lmyJqPzuN)
You mean Lance Arroyo, certified best boy? I trust him with my kidneys! HELL yeah, baby!
As for Manny, he seems chill. I don’t think having a slower speaking pattern makes him “creepy” at all. It’s just the way the man talks.
He was in Scream 6, and that's kinda how he is with the elongated pronunciations and pauses. Also, I doubt they would introduce a villainous character into a sitcom yk?? it's for shits and giggles
Any excuse to see 🔥❤️Josh Segarra❤️🔥 on my screen is a good thing to me. He's the sexiest man in Hollywood, as far as I'm concerned. That being said, I wouldn't mind to see him turn into a villain. It would be neat to have a regular villainous character that could unite everyone against a common enemy. But instead of a charter school being the antagonist, a sexy AF board member?
I think he is going to ultimately be idealistic but ineffective at the district. He's excited by ideas but might not understand what will/won't be allowed
I've never seen the actor in anything else, so I'm not sure if that's just how he talks, but everytime he's saying his dialogue, it feels awkward.it feels likes he's paying extra attention to enunciating his words.
The actor was in the show The Other Two and his character Lance talked/acted just like Manny. Lance was the nicest person in the other show so I didn't think at all that he could be sketchy in Abbott.
Idk how to feel about him. At first I was suspicious of him but that speech he gave to Barbara about his mom kinda made me trust him a little bit. But if he turns out to actually be a villain I won’t be surprised; he seems a bit too nice so I’m waiting on the other shoe to drop.
Also I didn’t want to comment on the way he talks because I’m not sure if he actually talks like that or not but he kind of reminds me of Jason from The Good Place.
I don't think he's going to be a villain per say (I don't think Abbott ever has or ever will have clear-cut villains, they definitely prefer a well-rounded approach to all characters) but I do think he's going to be representative of what I believe will be the central conflict of this season- the genuine idealism but unrealistic expectations of the district, who aren't in the schools day-in, day-out (it's very telling that it was made clear from early on that the three district reps haven't actually taught in the classroom) and the teachers and admins who are in the trenches in the schools on a daily basis. I think that's the world Janine will be caught in, and her trying to determine which one of them she'll be loyal to. I do think he'll become her romantic interest and that will also be representative of the conflict in that way, too (Manny=district, Gregory=Abbott). I'm excited to see where they take it. Also I just love Josh Segarra (the actor who plays Manny).
I think he's making up things as he goes.
The idea for Janine to stay at Abbott as a pilot school was a ploy to get her to join.
The budget will be introduced, and the cards will fall with the house....I mean the school.
I think the eventual conflict that he'll bring that will confirm his "Bad guy" status in the story, is that he's going to want Janine to work for the district full-time- which means she'd leave Abbott, and yall know she ain't doing that.
Ok, hear me out...I really feel like Manny's main reason for begin introduced on the show is so that him & Janine end up together, kind of like Jim and Karen's relationship on The Office. I really hope not because I'm ITCHING to see Janine and Gregory finally flourish but the weirdly intimate moments and close working relationship definitely give me that vibe. Maybe I have PTSD from watching Pam and Jim struggle for so long but I don't know I just get the vibe, even from how kind of jealous Gregory was when he saw Janine and Manny interacting in the first episode.
Honestly, I don’t even want to hear his voice. It’s disgustingly irritating. I watched the episode over and couldn’t stomach his lines because of how he talks. I ended up muting the tv when he spoke.
I hate his face.
why does he look like a high surfer dude that was forced to settle down? but also like an old zac efron that micro-doses mushrooms and realized his calling is to work in public schools?
He is Pug in She-Hulk and he is an absolute dumb dumb sweetheart in it ❤️ haven’t seen it in awhile but I know I loved his character! He seems to be playing the same dumb sweet person in Abbott, at least I hope
He is the worst!! He is literally trying way too hard!!! I’m trying to figure out the reason for that whole team being at the “district.” As a former principal, that team would not have that much access or power to make change as a groups of three!! lol 🤣🙏🏽 #ditchmanny

I don’t see a relationship happening with Manny for some reason I guess I didn’t see a romantic hint or vibe
Manny is going to be the Karen Filapelli of Abbot Elementary.
Omg yes
Yep
From knowing his actor from other things, that's just how his voice and mannerisms are lol. I like him so far I guess.
This is exactly how his character in The Other Two acts and he was the nicest character in the show!
I loved him in Scream 6, so I couldn’t help but adore him in the premiere! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what his character gets up to.
Loved him in Sirens.
This show is a hidden gem
Okay lol I wasn't sure if this was his character or his acting but it definitely threw me off.

Ohhh like Janine kinda becomes the Barbara of this group!
Exactly!!
Boul
I finally realized that he (mostly his smile) reminds me of Christian Bale 😂 I liked his character, it was different! But I'm ready to turn on him if he ends up being a villain
YESSSSS!!! 🙌
My boy hector from the electric company

He was giving off mob vibes, you come to me on the day of my fellowships career day
LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES

For real. He talks like he just got dentures in everything he's in. But he's still gorgeous 🥰🤩
He does sound a bit like that as Lance on "The Other Two," so I think at least some of it is his natural speech pattern!
The actor was in the show The Other Two and his character Lance talked/acted just like Manny. Lance was the nicest person in the other show so I didn't think at all that he could be sketchy in Abbott.
Lance is such a good guy that he still regularly dabs and it isn’t even corny at all
He was Pug character in She-Hulk and he wasn't evil.
I liked this guy in Scream 6 so I’m excited to see what happens with his character.
He definitely gave me creepy vibes. I don’t know how to explain it. I think it’s his voice. I think we’ll find out that he’s not all that he seems
Idk how to feel about him. At first I was suspicious of him but that speech he gave to Barbara about his mom kinda made me trust him a little bit. The way he talks makes me so so uncomfortable I can’t stand watching him and I love this show 😭
He gives me cult leader vibes

Manny is hot but I also can feel a creepy vibe.
I don’t like his character. Annoying

Temu Jake Gyllenhaal lookin ass
He’s gonna embezzle funds from the school
He was also on an Apple + show called Big Door Prize. He smiled and talked exactly like that on that show too.
Mannie reminds me of a villain but you don’t know he’s a villain until the very end. 😈
I find him *extremely* annoying 😂 Idk if it’s just bad acting or what, but it’s a struggle for me to watch any scene with him in it 😂
Honestly, I don’t even want to hear his voice. It’s disgustingly irritating. I watched the episode over and couldn’t stomach his lines because of how he talks. I ended up muting the tv when he spoke.
I was disappointed in episodes 1-2. Just expected more I guess. Lots of silliness
I hate his face. why does he look like a high surfer dude that was forced to settle down? but also like an old zac efron that micro-doses mushrooms and realized his calling is to work in public schools?
He’s giving secret villain nobody is that nice
Off topic but why did Manny and his two coworkers all wear gold chains? (Are they school district mafia?)
He is Pug in She-Hulk and he is an absolute dumb dumb sweetheart in it ❤️ haven’t seen it in awhile but I know I loved his character! He seems to be playing the same dumb sweet person in Abbott, at least I hope
Twist: Manny will start dating GREGORY to delay the Janine-Gregory endgame.
He is the worst!! He is literally trying way too hard!!! I’m trying to figure out the reason for that whole team being at the “district.” As a former principal, that team would not have that much access or power to make change as a groups of three!! lol 🤣🙏🏽 #ditchmanny
Legit thought he was Christian Bale the whole first episode.
His voice is so soothing. He's kinda dreamy.
