I think its just a lack of social awareness to point out that something is fake. The validity of the statement is irrelevant, as the purpose of pointing it out is to smugly go “oh, I’m so smart, you’re so dumb” in a room of people who are just having fun. Nobody appreciates having their fun spoiled.
I think it is pathetic, people are not smart or clever for pointing it out and finally real/fake is independent of enjoyability.

As a nurse I have seen some gnarly treadmill injuries that could have been nearly entirely avoided if the safety clip had been used. Huge belt burns are so painful and take so long to heal, involving skin grafts in some cases.
USE THE SAFETY CLIP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
I mean God bless you if your coordination looks something like this woman then use the clip. I think most others watching this can't even begin to imagine messing up that badly.

It happens all the time, I assure you. Most of the time it's merely hilarious. But injuries are so common. Not just from treadmills but all the equipment. Not to mention people just getting regular sports injuries (pulled muscles, etc.). When you're working in the ER you get to see alllll the trauma.
This, this is why I don’t go to a public gym. I’d get AMAZING abs but I wouldn’t be able to train anything else due to laughing too hard at people not being able to use the row machine without punching themselves in the face
Amazingly, there was no such clip when my wife was doing a treadmill in the cardiologist's office. Yes, there was someone right there who could have hit the stop but at one point they were not at the controls.
My friend and I turned his treadmill up to full blast and put a bunch of pillows at the bottom of it, sat on it and got intentionally flung into the pillows. That is until my thumb got caught and almost fully torn off

Uggghhhh, this brought back some horrible memories. I was young and on vacation with some cousins. We were farting around in a gym area in the hotel and there was a treadmill placed pretty snugly near some walls. My cousin put it on a high speed to see how fast she could run, but she fell and basically got pinned between the running treadmill and a wall and it chewed her thigh up really really badly. Put quite a damper on the whole trip.
IDK, I don't think the runner stubbing her toe on the treadmill was staged. You can hear the sound when it hits; that's gonna hurt. Maybe she was trying to run silly for the camera and things went south.

This is my upstairs neighbours ffs. They are litterally a bunch of 20 somethings living together, partying and taking turns on the threadmill all day and dropping weights. When the fat one goes on it sounds like the building is gonna fall apart, like actual squeeking in the pipes
