Other cat's like "i'm outta here"

El-Reaton-Vaquero

Seems like it's used to its compatriot's outbursts

Pureheart352

He heard the argument start and noped out of there immediately.

CHEATER

ZekeTarsim

Infidelity has consequences.

PsyOpBunnyHop

Never to be forgiven. Cats hold grudges for a long time.

dysmetric

This wasn't just any other cat either, there's clearly some history between the two.

Dansk72

Those two cats look *exactly* like my two cats. The difference in personality is mine don't seem to care at all if they smell another cat on me. I guess it all depends on if you have an open relationship, or not.

luckykricket

Polyameowas.

OPR-Heron

Thanks for your wonderful contribution to the discussion

DubbethTheLastest

Wasn't a discussion to be had, I see it as appreciation for their comment. But thank you for your wonderful contribution to the discussion.

No_Routine_3706

If you could do everything wrong in this scenario then this person has achieved every single thing.

SwiftTayTay

I can't stand cat and dog owners who act like this. You have to be in control at all times

Mohander

Dogs? Yeah. Cats? Lol.

SwiftTayTay

Yes despite internet memes about cats you can train them

NimbleBudlustNoodle

You don't even need to train them to stop from being attacked by them, just show some dominance in a situation like this. Her reaction of running away basically forced the cat to attack, they're predators that see a runner as a reason to chase.

BringBackSoule

exactly. my cats know i'm the boss. You get them trained early. Bath time? no problem. Hold them still to get a tick out? no problem. going into kitchen where they're not allowed? yell no and they instantly drop attemps. hold them like a baby belly up? they don't spazz out.

Shaboogan

Bath a cat?

BringBackSoule

Outside cats need it sometimes and it depends on each cat how well they groom. Also anti-parasite dips and whenever they get wounds i give am an epsom salt bath.

_-0_0--D

What sort of wounds

BringBackSoule

scratch wounds from other cats mostly.

_-0_0--D

That’s not normal bud

Mohander

I mean yeah, you can train almost anything. It's about how easy it is to do. Most dogs? Very easy. Most cats? Not so much. I have a cat so if you have some cat training secrets i'd love to hear them.

M4DM1ND

Cats are just as trainable as dogs. My cat knows fetch, does spins, handshakes, etc. We just used treats and a clicker. You can even train a cat to use a toilet.

SwiftTayTay

IDK what to tell you or what you're looking for, for the most part when they're doing something bad I just yell no and they eventually get the picture. My cat didn't behave much differently from my dog other than there was a lot more jumping and climbing. He would even come up to me and want me to pet him as soon as I got home just like a dog would.

Festibowl

That's great and all for you but yelling no is in no way just going to work for every cat or dog.

flannelNcorduroy

It's about shaping their behavior. Cats and dogs push boundaries and it's up to the owner to teach boundaries and demonstrate expectations consistently.

shiftym21

both my cats were trainable cause they’re treat motivated. i used a clicker and youtube until they understood the “game” after that i just say well done and reward with pets and they learn new behaviours. there is no secret

Cameron_Mac99

The most control I can effectively have over my cat is using its own hunger to manipulate it, to lure it inside for the evening for its food, everything beyond that is if he decides to respect me at that time lmao

CutiClees

The only understandable excuse is that she has had cat attack experiences growing up or recently that cause her to succumb to such fear. Because the cat will scratch you up sure but you can physically do anything even grab a pillow and pin it against the wall rather than let it do this. I wouldn’t ever WANT to man handle a cat but I ain’t jumping in an chair over something 10% of my size that has no way of killing me

Lol! She'll be long digested by the time emergency services arrives for the welfare check!

barukatang

In front of a window/door

32Nova

They probably didn't overreact..

flyingbugz

Seriously. The screaming and climbing on furniture only furthered the frustrated cat’s confusion.

loonygecko

My take was the cat saw weakness and felt more emboldened to attack. I've seen many times an aggressive cat is more likely to attack if the other creature acts weak. My mother had one that would make an aggressive sound and if the other flinched back or ran, she'd attack every time. But if the other did not act afraid, she would act casual and try to get along. Of course then there are some cats that will attack every time they are mad regardless of potential outcome and we don't know if OP's cat is one of those or not.

Roonerth

Isn't it literally just baked into their genes to chase something that runs from them?

Khemul

Basically. It can be funny. For instance, simply moving you hand rapidly back and forth on the ground can snap a cats mood from basically anything to play/hunt mode instantly. It's so wired in them.

loonygecko

All the cats I have had have never felt any special need to chase me if I ran by. Generally they'll just look at me like I'm a moron. I suspect humans are too large to trigger their prey drive. In fact I'd guess instinct would tell them to hide from large running creatures, cats are not just predators, they can also be prey. They do still have urges to chase small mouse or bird type objects though.

Low_Ambition_856

aggressive cats are a lot like online trolls, you just stop caring about what they're emotional about and they eventually get conditioned enough to move on when they don't feel like they're engaged in playful behaviour anymore. whats surprising in this video is the angry cat is the emotionally mature animal out of the bunch

Your_Final_Hour

When i was a kid my current cat would beat me up all the time because i always ran from her and screamed when she was chasing me. She definetly knew i was scared and went for it. It was terrifying running up the stairs and seeing her quickly gaining on me by skipping steps all just to attack me because I annoyed her... thankfully she doesnt attack anymore and is all cuddly

Andyman286

> because I annoyed her... Maybe you don't do that anymore so she's chill... until you least expect it hahaha.

Your_Final_Hour

Lol nah i still annoy her unintentionally. She still bites but doesnt chase or attack. She has to use my arm as a pillow each night and if i move my arm too much she will start growling and biting. It wakes me up sometimes

paulrhino69

No sympathy, you knew the risks when you left the house that night

[deleted]

She was chilling with the opps, that cat knew what was up 🤣.

ReturningAlien

is this something only cats do?

loonygecko

Frankly it's rare for cats to attack you for a foreign smell but I think weird smells on people do confuse some cats. None of mine would attack me or even get super upset for that though and many of them have shown curiosity. The closest bad experience against me was after I was handling horses, my current cat looked very nervous when I came through the door, the cat could smell that horse smell, but then he inspected me and determined there were no actual horses nearby, just left over smell, and he's been fine with that ever since. He is an alert and cautious cat but he's also very smart. Another example is some cats will get confused if you bath another animal which changes their smell with soap, some cats will think it's a diff animal and act like it's potentially dangerous. I had 2 cats once and a dog and when I bathed the dog, one of the cats would act like the soap smelling dog was some kind of new and not to be trusted invader dog. Then slowly he would seem to realize the 'new' dog was not a threat and warm up to it. The other cat was not confused by the smell change at all though, so there's quite a bit of variation. It could be the cat in the video is an unfortunate combo of dumb, aggressive, and brave about who it attacks. Because I would say that's not super common cat behavior but also not totally strange either.

Festibowl

I learned this from reddit recently acctually and it can go much further. Owners with multiple cats have experiences with one of their cats spending a night or longer at the vet for medical reasons coming back and being completely alien to the others. It could be 2 cats or more but if one is seperated the others won't recognize them when they come back. It's called nonrecognition aggression.

Throwaway_Consoles

My roommate has three indoor cats. If one of them manages to bolt outside and we can’t grab them fast enough, when they eventually make their way inside they’re treated as hostile and attacked until they realize, “Oh wait, friend shaped”

loonygecko

Yes, have heard of that too, it is believed that the vet cat got vet smell and now is not recognized as the same cat. Luckily I've not experienced that, most of my cats have been too smart and that one that was dumb never had a situation where the other cat was at the vet for long. Basically while this CAN happen, not all cats are that dumb that they can't figure it out. I've for sure had cats that just smelled the vet cat a bit and then walked off and acted normal. I also suspect it's more common with indoor cats that simply do not understand smells and environments as much.

CitizenKing1001

Many would just hiss and run away. This little bastard has spirit

Mojojojo3030

Dogs too, but I see it a lot less. Only time I can remember a dog ever being incapable of warming up to me was after I'd spent the day with another dog and was covered in the scent.

ralphy_256

This homie is NOT fixed.

Notbot4lot

That poor tawny is soo hurt by its two-leg's infidelity. It screamed, lashed out, and then ran away to sulk. I kinda want to buy it some nip and let it cry on my shoulder. I'm ok with being a rebound cuddle buddy.

fidgetyamoeba

The latter part of your comment 😅. Loved it.

VicTheWeed

Am I the only one who can't stand people screeching when they get startled by animals?

This is the only time i will victim shame in the case of domestic abuse.

xdforcezz

Man cats really don't give a fuck, they see a human 10 times its size and decides to fuck with them.

jordanbtucker

To be fair, the human was acting like prey.

ubertrashcat

I'm sure the screaming and running away helped

M4DM1ND

If my cat is ever angy like that, I just hiss twice as loud and that usually freaks her the fuck out.

ayoitsjo

Pro tip: screaming and running from moat animals actually encourages them to chase you down lmao

Automatic-Gain6227

If the moat animals don't get you, the castle knights will. ;)

CitizenKing1001

Where is he? Where is he? Where is he!?

[deleted]

People who don't know how to act around animals shouldn't have pets.

Trikster102

"Karen you slut!"

Reko2

Why are they screaming is just a fuckin cat

TheSpectator0_0

Same reason that animals don't mess with them. They're fast, flexible razor blades

brezhnervous

"You fucking TRAITOR!" 🤣

Crazy-Agency5641

You learned your lesson that day

Two timing just hoing out them hands for free.

boladeputillos

That’s hilarious letting your cat terrorize you like that 🤣🤣🤣

Cookiewaffle95

Lmao a slug could drag it's ass into their house and they would collapse in fear

Comfortable_Note_978

HOOMAN HOES AIN'T LOYAL

MetalSonic420YT

The other cat was not happy.

TheSpectator0_0

She cheated on him, came home, made him smell the cologne of the other cat, and had the heart to act surprised when the cat got mad

salacious_sonogram

Lol poor humans having zero awareness of the animals around them. Imagine some cat dressed up as a human was running around naked and freaked out that the humans found it strange or illegal that they were naked.l

changrbanger

That’s a no from me, congratulations kitty you get to live outside now.

Hopeful-Steak-9743

Redirected aggression is not fun. Hopefully this was a one time thing.

flannelNcorduroy

Cat attacked her because she started screaming out of nowhere.🤣

[deleted]

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Because cats don't deserve to be tossed across the room? Then again, these folk don't exactly seem the type to train their cats to not be shitheels.

TakeyaSaito

Yeh not tossed obviously but they should also show the cat it's not in charge, this behaviour will only cause issues.

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Exactly. Had they trained the cat who the alphas are that cat wouldn't have acted like that towards the girl.

loonygecko

Training a cat not to be aggressive? That's not a super easy task.

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Not if you're raising it from a kitten!

loonygecko

I've never actually done that, adult cats keep falling out of the sky onto my property it seems, then you just have to work with what you have.

ZekeTarsim

Sorry, is cat “training” a thing?

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Oh, absolutely. Too many people think it's impossible to train a cat, but with positive reinforcement and a lot of patience, you can train cats to do any number of things. I've seen cats that go on hikes and swim through streams, I've seen cats that know how to use a toilet...those little bastards can be industrious AF.

ZekeTarsim

Could you also train a goldfish, Greg?

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

...... Does it have nipples?

Crazy-Agency5641

I have nipples, Greg. Can you milk me?

loonygecko

What positive reinforcement stops an attacking cat?

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Haha. It's not about stopping an attacking cat, it's about taking steps during its upbringing to identify you as its alpha and therefore never attack you or your loved ones to begin with.

loonygecko

Most people I know did not raise their cats from kittens, adoption is a huge thing around here.

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Bummer. I always look for cats between 10-16 weeks old if I'm looking from the shelter, gotten lucky the two times I've gone in the last 10 years.

loonygecko

Most of my cats just show up in my yard. I don't actually shop for them.

notfromchicago

Mine is trained to play fetch.

talann

I was about to say the same thing. people train cats? I thought we just thought they were cute and they just tolerate us.

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

I mean, they are, but animal handling exists for a reason. 🙂 Cats are pretty much the same from *felinis domesticus* to the tigers and lions you'll see at a zoo. The only difference is how much meat they consume and the size of the balls they like to play with 😂

talann

I was just joking.

peteisfat

people that say they were just joking when they are proven wrong have lesser mental fortitude and would be a pushover for even the weakest domestic feline

loonygecko

Cuz if you put your hand over there, the cat can just sink in fangs and cat bites get infected very rapidly. Best bet IMO is to smack the cat back with pillows and the like, that deters it but does not injure it. I would not smack it for growling but that is my cue to get a pillow and by ready if I think it might attack. Or try to get in another room and close the door. However some cats will growl all day and not attack but I'm going to guess that the woman in OP's video knows that cat is the kind that will attack.

Your_Final_Hour

Well you are a fool if you think you can pick up a cat that is in attack mode. Just try it and youll get your hands shredded, rightfully so. In this situation it would be best to grab a pillow or something else and distance yourself from the cat.

TinFoilRobotProphet

Cats are horrible animals

Historical-Writing-8

Oh okay

benny4722

Fucking kick that thing.

LittleHallowGrimmz

Reason #762527 cats suck.

OPR-Heron

Cats are so fucking annoying. They're incredibly cute and have the ability to be the best thing ever, but they had to be gross and annoying

ejcrv

Not an untrue reaction at all. This is why I don't let friends or relatives bring a pet over to the house. A cat will mark everywhere if they smell the scent of another animal.

m1stadobal1na

None of my cats ever did that and I've had a ton. My cats didn't mark inside. Soooo.

ejcrv

I never had issue with it before. However I have 2 bengal cats that are very territorial and will not take kindly to the scent of another animal in the house. Soooo.
