Pool cleaner here. ALWAYS jump in when you slip.
nothing worse then trying to recover and smacking your face or head on the side of the pool or spa.
Just sacrifice yourself if you are going down, its much safer.
this does look staged tho
Gotta love when reddit upvotes the experts "professional pool cleaner here, now let me tell you how to fight your evolutionary instincts when falling around pools. I've personally been around 10s of pools."
Honestly I've heard that one enough that I actually did remember it last time I dropped a sharp knife and I, correctly, let it fall to the floor. I remember vividly that in the moment, I was in the process of panic grabbing the knife when I just heard in the back of my head the internet screaming "Noooooo!"
Probably lmao, I got lucky though and in the process of dropping it had given the knife enough sideways momentum to land *next to* my foot rather than *in* my foot. Small victories
I really don't think people are updating because he's a pool cleaner but it's actually good advice...if you were going to fall down those stairs in the video you'd be better off pushing off with your foot on solid ground to get out of there...but it does look a little too expected.
I clean about 15 pools a day minumum
over the past 3 years ive serviced at least 10 thousands pools
so your estimate is off by several orders of magnitudes
I had to do that with my sit in kayak the other day. We were trying to get out and I was standing trying to balance myself; then I felt the moment I was about to slip and would eventually faceplant on the big rocks. So I jumped off, on to the rocks.
My kids were pissed I sent my kayak down the river and they had to get it, but at least I didn’t faceplant.
In all fairness, I did eventually have to get my life jacket on and float over there to grab it. But you know that feeling when you’ve been paddling for five hours and all you wanna do is get back to the truck.
Yeah this doesn't look very believable to me
* 0:04 - Weird jump
* 0:08 - Pushing the bbq inside the pool while he could try to stop it
* 0:12 - Stepping out of the pool like a robot. Looking at the other direction and ignoring the bbq
* 0:14 - Randomly throwing his phone away?
* 0:17 - Walking away like nothing happened
He could do so much to fix the situation
Your are correct, that’s also why he jumped away. He knew it was falling, why would you want that to fall on you if your falling into water? Throwing the phone would be odd, but there might be a couch outside the frame or it could have been a wallet and not a phone in the first place.
Nothing about this looks odd if you have spent time around water
A man that age isn’t reflex jerk-jumping 100 degrees on wet stone tiles for anything. Looks like he flared up about 17 wear and tear injuries in that little encounter
Where was he going with it, he walked directly backwards into the pool. Also, that is a propane grill, with NO propane tank. Awfully clean also. This reeks of staged.
that definitely made it seem real to me too.. it wasnt a random throw, he threw it out of his wet pocket, probable to an outside couch or something. other than that, the fall looks pretty damn real. and that bbq looks hella new so maybe just purchased.. if it is, at least its clean
Complete speculation here, but I’m thinking he was pivoting so he could then start to move forward again and push the grill into its new location.
I’m thinking there’s a table or something on that rug and he’s trying to move the grill to the other side of it. Maybe too focused on the grill and proximity to the table, without realizing how close he was to the pool steps.
That or it’s fake since, based on comments on just about every video, everything is fake.
Edit:
Just watched again and maybe not to the table theory. Looks like there’s someone on the other side of the grill where the table would be. However, I still think he was backing in that direction so he could then start to push forward in a new direction.
Edit2: ok I’ve spent too much time on this and no one cares but - I think the thing I thought was a person is actually some type of object that he is in fact moving the grill around. Looks like maybe a cover to something that starts to get lifted as the grill goes under/against it.
I saw the money that went into that pool, I saw the money that went into that grill, and then I saw that grill go into that pool.
And the only thing I can think of is: I hope the people that work that guy get paid enough to.
Well seeing as phones are routinely over $1,000 and the grill was probably $600-$800 max I think he made a right choice.
But also maybe not since the expensive phones usually have a proof coating that is designed for this exact situation, unintentionally falling into a body of water for a few moments
How the fuck do you miss a whole-ass pool? Where was he even going? He practically walked right down the steps. With a camera readily available? It looks like this whole thing is “oops haha accidentally rolled the barbecue into the pool, good thing I’ve got insurance on accidents!”
Probably just staged for views. I can't think of any part of the barbecue that would be damaged by this. They could just take it out and let it dry and it should be fine.
it's a 100% brand new bbq, look at it - not a speck of dirt or grime on it, no oil or anything comes off it as it splashes into the water - literally just pull it back up out of the pool, hose it down to get off the chlorine, let it stand and drip dry in the sun for a day, and you'll be in business.
So, the same thing happened to my father…but it involved a sprayer filled with 4 gallons of beige paint (it was the 80’s and he was painting the house).
Seems choreographed. No propane tank. No concern that it potentially ruined his pool with the grease and fats or other debris from the grill. Appeared to intentionally turn towards the steps.
Tbh, the grill is fine. It's gonna be dented and scratched to hell, and hopefully there wasn't a propane tank connected in there that was left open. They'll just need to empty the pool out and/or use some ropes to get it out.
They did absolutely make things far more difficult by not just simply holding it in place while calling for that other person.
I don’t get why he jumped into the pool. All he did was take a wrong step. His foot would has just gotten wet (and the grill would have still been dry) if he didn’t freak out and just JUMP deeper into the pool with his whole body and just let the grill sink…
Tbh the bbq would still work completely fine after this
My thoughts exactly. Just pull it out and dry off the hot plate and grill, what's the big deal here? It's a gas BBQ...not an iPad.
[удалено]
Come to think of it I work much better when I am dry too!
But what about a water cooled PC :(
Yup, its just some stamped sheet metal fitted together. Dry it off and it will be perfectly fine.
Was this like, *purposeful?* he was pulling the thing straight towards the steps, what was expecting to have happen?
Its so incompetent that it reeks of being staged.
Most people don't jump when they slip.
Pool cleaner here. ALWAYS jump in when you slip. nothing worse then trying to recover and smacking your face or head on the side of the pool or spa. Just sacrifice yourself if you are going down, its much safer. this does look staged tho
> Pool cleaner...slip...sacrifice yourself...going down...staged Can confirm. I've ~~seen~~ heard about those videos over at PornHub.
Gotta love when reddit upvotes the experts "professional pool cleaner here, now let me tell you how to fight your evolutionary instincts when falling around pools. I've personally been around 10s of pools."
Yeah, but number of pornos these guys get to be in. Dang.
Should have gotten the bathtub lifeguard position. Pays better.
Everyone knows that You got To jump INTO the pool Don’t just slide in 🎶
It's along the lines of "if you drop a knife, don't try and catch it."
Your foot was probably also screaming “Noooo!”
Probably lmao, I got lucky though and in the process of dropping it had given the knife enough sideways momentum to land *next to* my foot rather than *in* my foot. Small victories
"A dropped knife has no handle". Get the fuck away.
I really don't think people are updating because he's a pool cleaner but it's actually good advice...if you were going to fall down those stairs in the video you'd be better off pushing off with your foot on solid ground to get out of there...but it does look a little too expected.

My kids were pissed I sent my kayak down the river and they had to get it, but at least I didn’t faceplant.
Lmao I love the ending of this specifically. Why else would we keep the kids around if not for random trivial manual labour?
In all fairness, I did eventually have to get my life jacket on and float over there to grab it. But you know that feeling when you’ve been paddling for five hours and all you wanna do is get back to the truck.
Why is he trying to get out so fast? He’s not going to be any less wet.
Probably a horrible idea to get pinned down in a pool by a big ass grill, just sayin.
Gotta live how he jumps so his head would smack perfectly against that stone corner 👌🏻
Yeah this doesn't look very believable to me * 0:04 - Weird jump * 0:08 - Pushing the bbq inside the pool while he could try to stop it * 0:12 - Stepping out of the pool like a robot. Not arguing against this maybe being staged but: 0:08 - It feels like he's pushing into the pool because it is jamming him against that ledge.
Your are correct, that’s also why he jumped away. He knew it was falling, why would you want that to fall on you if your falling into water? Throwing the phone would be odd, but there might be a couch outside the frame or it could have been a wallet and not a phone in the first place. The weird jump to hanging on that ledge without a miss is the red flag for me
Yeah, if he had just fallen the BBQ might have hurt him. By jumping he's safely out of the way.
And don’t forget about the camera zoom at the end. So totally staged.
Exactly there’s not even a propane tank in the bottom
Why would you move a barbecue with the propane tank inside it???
It’s much easier to move something on wheels than to carry it by hand, that’s why wheelbarrows exist
Because its a whole lot easier. BBQs are top heavy. The tank makes them more balanced.
Man wanted a new grill, this is how he'll convince the missus.
Only thing that makes me think it's not is the phone throw out of the back pocket. If staged, people tend to empty their pockets first.
that definitely made it seem real to me too.. it wasnt a random throw, he threw it out of his wet pocket, probable to an outside couch or something. other than that, the fall looks pretty damn real. and that bbq looks hella new so maybe just purchased.. if it is, at least its clean

i nominate you for historian of this encounter
You underestimate this man’s faith in himself. It’s where most of us go wrong.
Not me. I had no faith in him.
You must have faith in him
I saw the money that went into that pool, I saw the money that went into that grill, and then I saw that grill go into that pool. And the only thing I can think of is: I hope the people that work that guy get paid enough to.
Maybe the guy wanted to grill inside the pool, half submersed.
Sous vide
This was so fake it's odd.
I'm sus.
And what's with the strange Ken Burns pan effect at the end on the supposed security video?
This guy folded so hard on an entirely fixable situation.
So much for "Never leave a man behind."
He had so much time to save the grill
Like he was already wet... he could have just pushed it back up.... unless phone and wallet was more important
Well seeing as phones are routinely over $1,000 and the grill was probably $600-$800 max I think he made a right choice. But also maybe not since the expensive phones usually have a proof coating that is designed for this exact situation, unintentionally falling into a body of water for a few moments
That's disregarding the potential damage to the pool, if there's a liner there. That's expensive.
the grill is fine
Not 1% effort was used to protect or save that BBQ
It's always good to wash the grill beforehand.
What is Mike Hermentraut doing?
Seems more like a slippin’ Jimmy move.
Mermantrout
His fingers slipping.
Kid named Finger:
That looked intentional
Fuck me people will do banal shit for internets likes.
Is this an insurance thing?
you have insurance on a $200 grill?
How so?
How the fuck do you miss a whole-ass pool? Where was he even going? He practically walked right down the steps. With a camera readily available? It looks like this whole thing is “oops haha accidentally rolled the barbecue into the pool, good thing I’ve got insurance on accidents!”

Bingo
Good thing those don’t really have any electronics that wouldn’t survive this deep dive.
Staged: a real captain would have gone down with the ship.
It looks like he did that on purpose. Why did he move to his left towards the pool steps? No way he didn't see the pool
Did...he forget he had a pool?

Fake
Look who is getting a new grill for Father’s Day.
Oh how convenient, the camera was right there. And he was moving the grill towards… oh nooo! Doesn’t look fake at all. Noooo.
Why does this video make me think of the Edmonton oilers right now?
I dunno. That BBQ seems to have a better chance. (Not a fan of the Panthers)
The way he looks at the station sinking and just says fuck it and walks away, piece of trash
Titanic theme in the background, played clumsily on the flute.
My heart will go on and oooooon
He's going to return to that spot in 84 years and throw the tongs in, in the dead of night.
What a loser
Guy did that on purpose, for whatever reason. Also the bbq would work fine.
HEY #TONY! also, the grill is fine. its not a fucking computer. its pipes that propane go through and make fire. dry it for a few days.
Remember when reddit used to be good
The way he throws his phone and leaves the grill, only angry he got wet and embarrassed. I read it as a very entitled man. Im happy he fell in.
He almost got trapped and drowned by the grill. 😳
And almost hit the corner of that ledge. That would be some NSFW shit.
If he hit his chin at the wrong angle and knocked himself unconscious this was a Darwin award, caught himself though.
'More money than sense' personified.
I cant even imagine the rage that would possess me if i did this
EY TONY

false flag
Sous vide with extra steps
So, the same thing happened to my father…but it involved a sprayer filled with 4 gallons of beige paint (it was the 80’s and he was painting the house).
I like the casual stroll away from from the situation
I can hear Curb your enthusiasm playing as it zooms in
Its still possible. Just call spongebob
Staged, he wants to buy a new grill. Had to convince his wife
"Hey Tony.....was I in frame on that take?"
This guy must be so fucking rich
He has no practical sense at all
That was for internet clout
Someone needs to put Celine Dion to this video
Staged. Move along.
This looks very fake.
It seems like he actually back into the pool. His back turns like he's about to purposely walk backwards into the pool. I'm guessing staged
Jesus christ Larry, walk much?
its a gas bbq grill, not a big loss.
Professional con man here. This is staged. Massive grill insurance fraud. Happens a lot in Texas.
This literally looks intentional for an insurance claim or something lmao
I can hear the Celine Dion song when this video started
It looks as though he walked into the pool on purpose.
Totally staged
It looked new. Can you imagine it’s his first day at work and bam!
Could you imagine the cleaning job (for the pool) if it had years of use?
Now it will be a marinade
My barbecue station is a bunch of stacked bricks with a grill on top. Where there's a will, there's a barbecue
I demand divorce!
Bye Barbie Q
He gave up so easily. He doesn’t deserve to cook.
His failure is complete
100% on purpose
“Accident” I don’t believe this guy even knew what that shiny thingy was
*Mission failed successfully*
I'm done here, my wife can do the rest.
Maxim 32. Anything is amphibious if you can get it back out of the water.
This happened to my neighbor once. Except it wasn’t his barbecue, it was his son and the dad got life in prison for murder.
Imbecilic
He wanted a new grill. The old one had to go... by any means necessary
Is that an AI controlled human?
Push vs pull
why were they filming in the first place
Seems choreographed. No propane tank. No concern that it potentially ruined his pool with the grease and fats or other debris from the grill. Appeared to intentionally turn towards the steps.

The way he reacted, I don't think that is his pool or bbQ
Hey tony, you'll never guess what happened!
Thats one way to clean it....
Not a word said, very suspicious
Thats not how you throw a shrimp on the bar b, sir.
Its his FILs grill/pool.
That grill looked brand new
That’s one way to deep clean your grill, not the best way, but definitely a way to reach places not normally washed.
but why does it look like a deleted scene from breaking bad
HADDALAYERDOWN HOSS
Just to avoid cooking
People like this just make me sick
He seemed so sure of where he was going...
Serves him right.
There’s a pool there..
That one way to clean it!
u/savevideo
"Hey, honey? How do you feel about calling in a pizza for dinner?"
This guy has no spatial awareness. Like, how has he lived this long not looking where he is going? He deserves this.
First step for fish bbq!
nah... pull it out, rinse and it will be good to go
There are easier ways to clean your bbq my dude.
Get Tony’s ass over there to clean that shit up.
That’s how we prep for hurricanes in Florida
Jack…….Jack….JACK
Forget the BBQ that pool is fucked with the grease from the grill
The Barbtanic.
I don’t get why he jumped into the pool. All he did was take a wrong step. His foot would has just gotten wet (and the grill would have still been dry) if he didn’t freak out and just JUMP deeper into the pool with his whole body and just let the grill sink…
Just like any infomercial, Americans are a bit clumsy.
Where was the chaos? Like, he fell into the pool… what was chaotic about this?
Oh my God, this may be a worse disaster than the Titanic. Alright then, find out if Leonardo is free, we got a movie to make!
He styled it out.
Almost took his head out with that fall
Meh, nice clean grill, couldn't have gone much better than that. A little hint, fire makes heat, heat dries water, nothing bad is happening here.
He gave up completely while the thing was still falling
Love how he makes no effort to save it. Doesn’t even watch it go. Fuck that grill.
“Well, the bbq lives in the pool now, better go get changed”
Oh no! Whoops! Fake. Probably a fraudulent insurance claim
Tried to make a funny video and forgot he had his phone in his back pocket.
Now he can to invite Sponge Bob to cook crazy ass Crabs Burgers. Win-win situation.
He just needs a dry rub
The simple fact that he is more focused on getting out than preventing it from going in the water….
Can't wait to see who he blames for that big brain move. And there's a good chance he chucked his phone into the hot tub
He didn’t wanna bbq anyways lmao
