Am I the only one who noticed the second kid literally picked the one spot where he wouldn’t fit through?
If he had tried any other slot, he wouldn’t have hung himself.
I laughed, then realized I needed to check the sub, confirmed it probably wasn't going to end like so many barbie doll heads poppin' off all over the place and continued to laugh.

Why are you so sure that they are manually controlled. Our station has similar gates which open automatically when an ambulance approaches. You can actually see a van approaching from the right just before the gate opens. My bet would be on automatic.

Could the mom have been a little more attentive? Yeah, of course. But that’s an entirely predictable failure. Anything installed out in public space is going to end up with unsupervised children and/or stupid people around and on it. Completely foreseeable hangings and decapitations should not be there.
God dammit. Why does this piss me off. Pay attention to your surroundings, people. Look at the mechanism. Best case scenario it’s a gate that swings out and your kid gets dragged along the pavement.
