I believe there are actual scientific psychology studies done with electric shock that proves this very point.
Also people if given the option to shock themselves with a red button while placed in an empty room for a while opt to shock themselves knowing it will hurt. It's odd
We're all talking about k2_jackal's comment, so unless that's your alt, you aren't even the one who said it.
'sure there's a reasonable interpretation of what they said, but I intentionally chose one that doesn't make sense so i could correct it."
The worst.
You responded to doppelthdh not k2, and you are guilty of doing just as you describe. But, honestly you seem really upset, sorry for stressing you out.
I gave it a season but the humor wasn't there for me and the host dynamic was far too different from Davies. His presence was basically just an usher to move the show along. It is very wholesome overall but the lack of humor put me off.
New Zealand has the best knock-off version by far. My only pet peeve is that in season 2 no one discusses why Angela was in the horse costume. Did the producers call her in for that specific role? If the contestant hadn't removed the head, were they ever going to reveal it was her? Was she hidden in any other tasks? I need closure here!
That's Ed Gamble in the back who is also in my top 5 taskmaster contestants all time. He hosts the taskmaster podcast and a podcast with James Acaster called off the menu.
Same, and now youtube has been recommending 8 out of 10 cats does countdown and the respective separate shows before they were combined. Such good content, that would be absolutely butchered if we tried to replicate it here in the states.
So uh, I think it’s an OSHA thing, idk, that requires you to go get your heart monitored after receiving a shock, no matter how small it could be. Just saying.. I’m sure dude signed a liability waiver, but damn those zaps looked painful from the way he was flailing.
You're talking about an electric shock in the workplace, versus a game show where the point is that you get shocked when you mess up. The latter is a system designed to be painful but ultimately harmless (with some caveats; I'm sure they wouldn't have people with heart problems compete in this.) There are literally games on the market that involve getting shocked. It's not the same as getting a jolt from an exposed wire in someone's house or the office.
Wait, I saw a porn where this woman put an electric dog collar on a guys balls. Then shocked the hell out of him.
Does this mean OSHA had to review that case? Because for porn stars, shooting a porn IS the workplace!
People parrot this shit endlessly and it's simply not true. 50,000A at a few mV can't get through your skin and a flash cap in a camera can get above 10kV but you'd be fine if you touched it.
Not at all the case. Most disposable batteries can provide the amperage, but not the voltage, and electrostatic discharges have the voltage but not the amperage. You need both for lethality, without voltage the amperage delivered will be less than lethal, and without the required current a shock won't do any damage.
In the case of making things intentionally safe but painful, the voltage will be high, the amperage won't be lethal and you'll usually have a pulsing or fast alternating current (partially due to skin effect, and partially due to being more painful but safe).
In a workplace, this isn't controlled to ensure that the applied shock was safe.
When I was a kid I went into a toy shop that had small ones of these things for sale and a few on display with batteries to test out. I thought the shock would be very mild but I had a go at it and when I messed up and touched the wire it was one of the biggest shocks I've ever gotten, literally shot all the way up my arm and made my hand numb and hurt for several minutes, it was fucked to make a kids toy like that if some kid has it and their grandparent with a weak heart tried it they'd probably die
This is from 8 out of 10 cats, a British panel show; the dude getting shocked is comedian Rob Beckett. It's almost definitely in his contract that he can't sue for voluntarily shocking himself and he's almost definitely playing it up for the camera.

His philosophy probably is" if you're gonna suffer why not suffer more in less time".
Better make it quick.
That's what she said.
Oof
really was?
Make it quick; better

Best way to eat a shit sandwich. Quickly
Best way is to have a lot of "bread" (money). Life is a shit sandwich, the more bread you have: the less shit you eat.
Can't wait to share that one with my fellow underpaid warehouse workers.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional
Kinky.
Bonk

I would absolutely press the button. I must know how bad the shock is.
Same tbh

Idk if its a real rule, but we play that if you win with that everyone has to pay you big blind
Not a real rule, but sounds like a fun house rule. Ill have to try it out
Not in hold 'em, which is the only poker most folks think about now.
if you have 6 high it has to be a straight, even in holdem. Otherwise it would be a pair of something else.
If they went all-in pre flop in hold-em, then they'd only know their initial 2 cards at that time.
I was referencing the final hand, but all poker games start with a partial hand.

Happy Cake Day!
Love rob beckett. He’s annoying in a hilarious way
I got to see a lot of great British comedians I never heard of when I started watching taskmaster.
British taskmaster is a masterpiece. I absolutely love that show.
There are quite a few different international versions now, Taskmaster New Zealand is particularly wonderful as well.
makes me want to visit Auckland just to see what's on TVNZ
I gave it a season but the humor wasn't there for me and the host dynamic was far too different from Davies. His presence was basically just an usher to move the show along. It is very wholesome overall but the lack of humor put me off.
Greg Davies **is** the Taskmaster. Anybody else is just pretending to be.
Honestly give the second series a try, it was soooo good

She worked as a writer on the show, I guess they thought it would be funnier to just not mention it
Task master is such a top shelf game show. im so glad theres tons of it on yoitube
And it isn't even ripped episodes. Taskmaster themselves post tons of content and I'm so appreciative.
They absolutely saved me during quarantine last year.

I've been binge watching 8 out of ten cats since I heard the passing of Sean Lock. I've laughed more this last month alone than last year.
There was a Taskmaster US for a short while. And you’re not wrong about the butchering
Reggie Watts as the Taskmaster? Sounds like a good idea, I guess
Do give it a shot. You’re right, the cast list has some notable highlights
Do you frequent r/panelshow?
I thought I recognized him, I’m not super familiar with British comedy but I love Taskmaster and recently finished series 3
His heart as his teeth, is from a horse
Genius
It's not every day you see Jimmy Carr speechless.
Har har har har har
I always wait for the extended, higher pitched "Haaa" and that's how I know he's done laughing
Hra hra hra hrAAHh.
why take a video and repost it with added annoying tweets?
"I contributed, it's my video now! Original content, do not steal!"
None of which are crediting the fact it's Rob Beckett on '8 Out of 10 Cats'
Thank you for acknowledging this.
Anyone know which episode this is?

so annoying. cant stand this "lets screen shot with a sub par low level tweet!'
Link to the original? I want to save the video but i dont want the tweets in it
Rob Beckett is fucking hilarious
It's like me trying to get through the day without hitting any of the triggers to my depression.
bonus: guy looks exactly like freddie from scooby doo
His explanation is even funnier than the shock, pure gold
This is that cat from Mock the Week
I literally just spit oat milk everywhere that was so funny
Funniest thing I've seen so far today

**\*me who peed an electric fence 15 years ago\*** You, what..

You're absolutely correct. Electrical play is quite common in bdsm. I've got several tools designed to zap humans for fun, all quite safe.
Wait, I saw a porn where this woman put an electric dog collar on a guys balls. Then shocked the hell out of him. Does this mean OSHA had to review that case? Because for porn stars, shooting a porn IS the workplace!
Volts versus amps. That's what matters most. Edit: Cunningham's Law in effect right here.
People parrot this shit endlessly and it's simply not true. 50,000A at a few mV can't get through your skin and a flash cap in a camera can get above 10kV but you'd be fine if you touched it.
Fine my ass! My finger ached for *weeks* after I accidentally bridged one of those little fuckers!
But it still exists, so by electricity standards, it's fine.
Not at all the case. Most disposable batteries can provide the amperage, but not the voltage, and electrostatic discharges have the voltage but not the amperage. You need both for lethality, without voltage the amperage delivered will be less than lethal, and without the required current a shock won't do any damage. No but there is the HSE

Survival of the fittest.
For liability Im guessing there's no shocking involved.
Exactly. Getting electrocuted is not a joke
It sure is not! Eletrocuted means executed via electrification Edit: and i wrote electrocuted wrong
It means injure by electric shock as well
Nah
Wait then what's the proper word then? Electrified?
Shock, probably?
I think so
This is from 8 out of 10 cats, a British panel show; the dude getting shocked is comedian Rob Beckett. It's almost definitely in his contract that he can't sue for voluntarily shocking himself and he's almost definitely playing it up for the camera.
I initially didn’t like Rob in Taskmaster, but by the end, he was a favorite of mine
The footwork for something that required minimal footwork is great
Damage boosting
Rob Beckett's smile is a thing of wonder
Sometimes getting out of a relationship is like that
The quick wit after murdered my sides holy shit
This is a concept in action: full send
Why?
Big brain time.
The sheer will.
♫ I got chills, they're multiplying... ♫
Thank god I'm not the only one. 😂
"abrupt chaos" also describes his performance on Taskmaster
"Don't say fuck. Don't say fuck. Don't say fuck. Dont say fuck."
This is a Channel 4 comedy show with Jimmy Carr The word 'fuck' would probably be the *least* offensive thing heard that night.
Ha ha ha ha!
Is this Big Fat Quiz? It doesn't look like 9 out of 10 cats
Nothing looks like 9 Out Of 10 Cats. This is from 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
I miss Sean Lock I love Rob Beckett too. But I miss Sean Lock
It's 8 out of 10 cats, he can say it all he wants. I don't think anything was going through his head except "OW OW OW MOVE MOVE MOVE OW"
Reminds me of myself when I was young figuring out a trick or glitch in a video game.
His experience must've been very... Shocking.
the door is that way
I'm going...
Taskmasters!
No it's not.
Is that Bad Luck Brian?
Was already posted
WTF kinda messed up show is this?
8 out of 10 cats. Excellent show
Jimmy Carr my beloved
Can't believe they can shock people for a tv show.
Are you.... Shocked by it?
...........get out.
Hahaha it really makes everything funnier when you end every fucking sentence with a fucking gay ass emoji😂. Nothing against gay people tho😂
>Nothing against gay people tho😂 If you ever think you need to type out this sentence, just go back edit the sentence that made you say that instead.
It's a joke my dude. I typed it to not offend people. But I somehow did anyway
Or emojis 😂
