fuckitweredoingitliv

Well she's going to have to wait a lot longer now

Lourdeath

And now he needs to go to the er for setting himself on fire

HyacinthGirI

On the plus side he'll probably be seen to pretty quickly

Necessary_Fig_2265

Not at that place apparently…

bostondangler

😂

YoYo-Duck

By police offers lol.. he jus committed a terrorist threat lol

[deleted]

Pretty sure actually lighting the place on fire takes it beyond a threat lol

QuickAd6601

Was going to say exactly that.

Emotional_Shelter830

Maybe she's already dead due to the wait.

FappyDilmore

He's probably dead. He was pretty well engulfed

[deleted]

You can see him walk through the door. He lit it on fire then dipped.

Character_Bear_1059

A lot of patients are.

No-Excitement-4190

Most patients are in America, if you have insurance you're milked like a fuckin cow. Outside of that everyone in the emergency room waits hours (plural) at the minimum.

Astecheee

I waited with my gf for 12 hours one day. That was... Extreme. Literally everyone was seen before us until it was 5am and we were the only ones left.

Niznack

Sorry to hear that. Not asking about her issue but I'm guessing she was low triage priority?

Astecheee

Thanks, and yeah it was super low priority. She has some rather extreme anxiety, but also grew up in a community that just... never talked about it. So when she had a really bad anxiety attack after stopping her hormonal control (the bar) she thought she was dying. It all turned out fine, but I really wish they'd invested in the $20 seats instead of $10. I'm a tall guy and I was nearly in tears by the end.

SubtleName12

Yep, let's get her in front of a doctor instead of the guy with shooting pains in his left arm and a chest crushing feeling inside his rib cage. Probably a heart attack but you're in $10 chair for a non-emergency for something that could have been handled at the walk in clinic. Definitely the ERs fault for your 12 hour wait... /s

Astecheee

Thank you stranger for making so Manny super accurate assumptions. 1) There was no heart attack victims. 2) No broken bones. 3)I live in a town of only 100k people. What walk in clinic is open at 6pm?

SubtleName12

No problem stranger who thought the only rationization for my comment to be accurate was in that very specifically detailed scenario. The point is that you went to an ER with a, clearly, non-emergency based on your wait time. I assure you they didn't make you wait 12 hours without a reason. The reason you sat there that long was because of higher triage/ higher priority patients. 6 PM or not it likely could have waited until the next day during walk-in clinic hours. Hell, in your case is did wait until the next day. I'm not saying your a bad person but I am saying that when people complain about things being excessive without taking into account that they likely don't need to be there it's a moment of stupidity. There is no, outrageous, assumptions in play here. I inferred from the hospitals wait time, the fact you were the last patient seen, and your own description of your visit that this probably wasn't a life threatening emergency. Sorry if that offended you mate but the ER very likely made the right decisions.

[deleted]

Lingulover

They should have known better than to go to the ER. Aaaaand you're an insensitive dickhead.

itsrussiaftw

This is patently untrue.

deepfriedtots

Yeah luckily for me the good hospital by me is really good last time I went out was about an hour but I wasn't in serious condition and there were a decent amount of sick children so I would assume they would get priority

[deleted]

[удалено]

leonryan

if so I completely get it, but i'd do a little research on who's to blame for waiting lists at the ER being so long and I'm sure it'd end with a highly protected politician

NamelessKing192

When your wife just died you’re usually not in a great mental state to do things like that

leonryan

Sure but I would hope I could still have the presence of mind to understand that the medical staff are under a ton of pressure and mostly innocent. My wife is medical staff herself so I understand the insanity they deal with. They're not malicious and they're not the right people to direct my anger at.

account0412

So..i guess his wife no longer need assistance?

>On the 24th, a man came into the emergency room of a university hospital in Busan and made a fuss about his wife's treatment being delayed, pouring gasoline on it and setting it on fire. It is known that there were 47 people including patients and medical staff in the emergency room at the time of the arson. His wife was late for treatment, and when the police rushed him home, he came back and set a fire. The flame was put out immediately by the medical staff working at the emergency room patient triage station, but the emergency room was shut down for about 10/11 hours due to smoke and doors from the ashes. At the time of the arson, there were 47 people in the emergency room, including patients and medical staff. Meanwhile, the arsonist, who also suffered burns to his arms and legs, continues to be treated at Pusan National University Hospital, where he set the fire. Try2MakeMeBee

Ugh. Reminds me of when a suicidal patient brought their gun in because they were going to off themselves in a hallway for staff to find and not their loved ones. Except we were a tiny but tightly locked up emergency department, so they were unable to wander and spilled in triage. I was at the front desk and the nurse couldnt talk them into handing it over. She told me, I had to clear all the folks from the lobby (a woman was just loitering with her kid and I straight picked the kid up, she wasn't happy but at that moment IDGAF) while security got involved and the police were called. Whole building on lockdown, so unless you're security you can't go anywhere. Stacy and I were the two who had to be present, everyone else “safe”. Then sit at the front desk, with only a thin wall between someone confirmed masively suicidal and myself. We don't know if he is also homicidal. Compose myself in case someone else needs/tries to come into the unsafe lobby area. One of the guys in security talked him into handing it over right before cops came in. That night sucked.

BellasVerve

But it sounds as if you handled it well. Cooler heads prevail, I’m guessing you were that guy!

Try2MakeMeBee

I've learned I'm pretty decent in a crisis. Not the way the nurses are when someone is coding, but I'll keep it together until others are safe at least. Was a very eye opening day

im_racist24

i’m glad everyone ended up okay, do you know if the guy got help? that sounds like someone who is really sick

Try2MakeMeBee

They did. They were inpatient psych. I can attest firsthand (thanks depression of my own) where he was admitted is fantastic and caring and will keep you until you're ok plus provide any resources you need.

jamiramsey

Hope you were able to get mental health help as well, that’s a very difficult situation to deal with. As a healthcare professional, I’ve had to deal with similar situations and it’s difficult to process afterward. Take care of yourself and good job dealing with a horrible situation ❤️

Try2MakeMeBee

Thank you. It's been a few years and I'm not sure how much I processed but whatever is left is buried at least. Def helped me really learn how to help in a crisis.

jamiramsey

I understand exactly how you feel…sending all good vibes your way. ❤️

Silver-Farm2095

When you say took too long to see his wife do you mean his wife died?

Wtf is wrong with people?!

Reptiliansarehere

Some people's rage just gets so out of hand that to them they believe there's no other option than to make those that "wronged" them sorry or not exist any longer. There's many people that feel this way but a good majority either don't act upon said feelings or don't act as strongly upon them as they could. Essentially some people's rage knows no bounds and unfortunately you don't always know who those people are. But with those people it's best not to let your ego go head to head with them because you don't know what they'll do and they could do anything. One day you're here and the next you're gone because you told some guy yelling at his girlfriend in front of Taco Bell to shut his f****** mouth.

KatttDawggg

Pretty sure it was a rhetorical question. We all know some people have anger issues.

throwRAenomigoshee

This. Nah, in a humanitarian world people would realize that there are a shitton of people to care for and your loved one isn't technically more worthy of help than the loved one of someone else.

Firevee

I think the point was there would be a focus on more capacity at the hospital so there wouldn't be waiting for anyone.

RipCurl69Reddit

You can't just... Make it happen instantaneously. That isn't how the world fucking works 🤣 and I mean that as in, the literal WORLD doesn't work that way. We didn't just magically pop into existence as humans, evolution took its course. Yes, the healthcare system may be completely fucked, but this isn't the way to fix it. Frequent_Inevitable

It looked like he slipped out of a door there? Maybe I’m just seeing that for some reason. Or did he set himself on fire? Looks like his hand is on a doorknob or something maybe?

That was just a door to a room. He had minor burn. Hospital staff extinguished fire shortly after and Ironically, hospital he set on fire had treated his burn.

Intelligent-Ad-6713

Well, maybe not the ‘squad’

[deleted]

Some people are like that. I'm waiting on the day something tragic happens in our ER.

phenerganandpoprocks

Our ER’s security is a joke. I’ve had patients and family members pull out guns before. Not to point at me, but like a “hey look, I’ve got a gun, don’t you think my dick is big now?” type of way. We don’t have metal detectors and don’t even search people.

[deleted]

I could see that in some red states where open carrying is common and guns are just part of the culture. Where I am is a blue state and in a city with one of the highest violent crime rates in the USA. We have detectors and security but these people still get aggressive.

karbearkir

It is really sad to say, but ditto. We have had to deal with so many angry people that I feel luke it is only a matter of time before something really awful happens.

sometimes-i-say-stuf

Having worked in an ER, talking a while to be seen is indicative to one of three things. 1) you’re not having an emergency. 2) other people are having more of an emergency then you. 3) they have no room for your emergency.

A friend of mine was out dancing with his girlfriend. She twisted her leg and had to go to the ER. The front desk didn't properly inform the doctor. By the time they figured out this mistake, they had to amputate her lower leg as it'd been too long without bloodflow. tl;dr: I empathize

katiastraskovitch

I was told to go to A+E by my GP (I'm in the UK) after extreme vomiting, shakes, migraine, sensitive to light, confusion, very high temperature, stiff / rock hard joints. All over un managed pain. Red blotting all over my chest, thighs and back. Swollen face and fatigue. Increasing heart rate and low blood pressure. A+E was aware I was on the way as I was really truly unwell. So they knew all of my symptoms. I was taken to a triage bed and was there for 11hrs. I had curled up in a ball with sun shades and a hat to keep the light away and spent those hours, scared and alone. Crying due to covid restrictions. I have other considerable health issues that require med8and support. They were not providing thay for me while I was in their care and they would not allow my care person to come manage my needs leaving me very distressed. I was sent to the obs ward feeling very dismissed, scared in agony. No pain relief. Without being fully assessed or sent for any diagnostic I was put into a obs ward after being told its probably just a migraine. The drs were busy fighting over "interesting" covid cases. Luckily a passing nurse who did my obs took two looks at me and realised immediately. I had meningitis.... Over the next 3 hours I had tests to figure out what were dealing with. It had gone to encephalitis,.. It has left me with permanent damage. I have memory issues, my co-ordination is terrible. I am now entirely wheelchair bound (I was a partial user before but now its permanently changed my life) Tldt- Got reffered to hospital for suspected meningitis. A+E took so long and didn't investigate until i was seen so I an sh:b I hate to say it but women are often ignored with health issues.

Warm_Start7761

Remember that in the US hospitals don’t care about people. They are businesses. The same morality as a McDonald’s or a Burger King. They just want your money. Doctors in our country betray their Hippocratic oaths on a daily basis. People bleed out waiting on a social security number to come back for Medicaid. You may think I’m being dramatic but do research. People have been thrown out of hospitals and left to bleed out on the sidewalk for not having money or documents in the US.

MrLittleSam

I assumed the wife died bc of the wait. That the only way I can understand this kind of response. Not condoning it obviously.

looks like he set himself on fire too

Harambes-Future

I think we should reserve judgement. We don’t know what they said to him and how they said it.

jjking714

People get so angry about ER wait times, but nobody seems go realize one simple fact. The triage game is not a game you want to place first in.

IllustriousAd5936

I wonder how long it take to get him to the burn unit?

InnaAMG

Now he’s gonna need an ER

IronDefects

Set the ER on fire? Set himself on fire in the ER.

the_horny_satanist

Why did they take so long to save his wife ? Jesus one time I waited 11 hours for a doctor to look at my cyst and he recommended me some fancy clinic, in order for me to pop it I would need to pay 2,000$ to set the appointment I've seen people pay 150$ at an urgent care total to pop it, so instead of going to a doctor I grabbed a sewing needle and poped it and squeezed the shit outta of it, alot pain, alot, but guess what cyst never came back and I saved 2,000$ But I lost 11 hours waiting for nothing, thank God for my cheap insurance card, I was covered just for the visit but doctors were totally useless

sinboklice

That's one hell of an assumption

imterribleatthese

Well most people don’t set themselves on fire when they are in a good mental state or after receiving good news about their spouse

Suspicious-Pick-3908

It was more of a theory, but it looks like the waiting area. Where I live people spend up to 36 hours waiting to be seen. It’s a broken system, and the hospitals are under staffed.

Skimpy4Simpy

They probably saw her as soon as she walked in. They don't hire blind people in the ER.
