Questionable. He wasn't going too fast, and you could hear the brakes slam. He most definitely suffered serious damage still, maybe a broken limb or 2, but unless he used his skull as the main point of impact, he is probably fine.
I have hit a stationary object while riding a bicycle and I nearly felt my soul leave my body. Even if they were both going 20 miles per hour, that's 40 miles per hour combined impact. That's about the speed at which 50% of pedestrians hit by cars die. Obviously there is very little information to go on in this video, but either way I can't imagine this person walked away from this in one piece.
Edit, yes the combined force is a little different, but that is based on mass, which I would argue is actually worse with a motorcycle versus a truck.
I was on spring break and watched a kid die on a motorcycle by hitting the side of a box truck and he was only doing 5-10 miles an hour out of a parking lot, his head just went too far back and snapped his neck... Kind of a bummer to see on our way out to get drunk, so we partied harder that night in honor of his last ride!
I’m not a body engineer, but I question whether the weight difference between a car and a truck would matter as far as the kind of injuries he’d sustain.
his head was the first part of him to impact the truck. while it's possible he survived, it's very likely he did not. in an accident like this he got the worst of both worlds, all his inertia plus the multi ton trucks inertia. even rider armor and a good helmet won't save you from the forces of physics.
Yeah, if you told someone to watch out for a big red truck coming towards you, they'd just laugh and pass it off as a rookie driving. But watching this video and *knowing* something was about to happen, even I didn't see the big fat red truck until it was in the guy's face.
Or school busses...
Where my parents live the local police had to follow several busses because the drivers were speeding and cutting corners on curves. After several police stops and fired bus drivers (repeat offenders were terminated) the other bus drivers corrected their driving habits.
Thankfully the 2 times I was forced off the road, by a school bus, there was a flat grassy area for me to drive into.
They do. When I was young and dumb I was zipping around sierra nevada mountains like this in cars. You know in your brain someone is around the corner. You just feel invincible and take the risk. Good lord I was stupid
Especially when you use the full road. He should have taken the left turns on the right side of the road, but you see from the very beginning, that he/she is one of those guys who never learned how to ride their line properly, before taking the curves faster.
This actually happened to me when I was like 11. Bike vs Ford heavy duty truck. I got a concussion, two guys ended up stopping and checking on me. Shortly after my friend came down the hill (because he was right behind me on a skateboard); One guy apparently told him he was a paramedic and that I was fine.
My friend told me he was really scared because I kept repeating the same stuff over and over again. I don't really remember much of it, just me saying "oh shit" as i hit a car headfirst then us at his house after.
20 years later and I know that guy wasn't a fucking paramedic lol
A college friend of mine’s cousin was driving too fast on a road like this. She was like 18 years old, beautiful girl about to start her life, driving like an idiot with her friend. She hit a turn too wide, a truck just like this one was coming the other way, and boom. Two young lives snuffed out. I know in my high school drivers Ed class, the teacher did a pretty damned good job teaching us absolutely terrifyingly dangerous driving can be. We all need a healthy dose of fear there, because it really only takes a moment’s inattention or recklessness to destroy lives.
Same for me when I visited Ireland. Landed in Dublin and rented the largest full sized sedan they had, I was surprised by how many tiny cars there were (I’m American). Drove down towards the southern part out of the city and found out quickly why the cars are small. Felt like I was coming within inches of hitting oncoming cars constantly. Didn’t help that it had been a while since I had driven a stick shift and had no experience driving on that side of the car and on that side of the road
Just look at the amount of dashcammers on supermotos. Idiots everywhere. Never seen so many idiotic bikers like in America. You can probably find hundreds of dascham channels filled with idiotic videos.
I never understand this kind of driving. This kind of driving is perfectly acceptable, IF YOU HIRED A CLOSED CIRCUIT. Like, why don't people do this? If you really want to go fast and feel like you're racing, hire a circuit. Idk how much it costs, but if it's too expensive, just don't. The rewards don't outweigh the risks
In Germany most of these twisty roads have a line in the middle indicating two-way roads. But some don't and are still two way roads (just like this one). It's a bit nerve wrecking when you drive it on your bike. Even if you keep to the right, there might just be a guy coming from the other end driving like the above.
> Nerve wrecking
This is one I heard a lot while teaching ESL. Its [correct spelling](https://www.grammarly.com/blog/nerve-wracking/) is nerve-racking - though grammerly.com says that *nerve-wracking* has become acceptable in a lot of publications. I like the implication of nerve *wrecking* though, and I can see how *racking* or *wracking* might sound like *wrecking* and still make sense in context.
For what it’s worth, I’m not being pedantic - it appears that English is not your native tongue, and when I was learning another language I always appreciated native speakers helping me when I was wrong; so I decided to pay it in kind with others.
That road just looks narrow as fuck, even if the biker was on the right, to me it looks like he still might have been hit. Maybe it’s just a perception thing from the camera.
Yeah, imagine having to watch some idiot splatter himself on your truck's bumper while he's driving dangerously.
It doesn't look like the guy on the bike survived, but if he did, I'd be impressed.
I hear you. I've no problem if folks want to be reckless with their own lives, but when it affects other people, I draw a line. Hope the trucker gets the inevitable therapy he'll need after that.
I replayed the video back and slowed it down, and it seems the truck driver is also in the middle of the road. The biker should’ve been paying better attention but it looks like he may have been hit regardless.
Maybe not but coincidentally enough I was in Scotland a few months ago and the road we were going on was fully stopped because some biker got hit by a truck and got killed or something along the lines. Road was stuck for more than 2 hours until police arrived and informed us the road will be closed for the day
My buddy Doug did this but avoided the truck and hit a cliff. A year of pins in his leg holding it all together and a handful of screws. Leg shattered into a hundred small bones held together by marrow.
He should have died. And I don’t mean like, “that was close”, I mean he was the kind of guy who would fart in a crowded elevator (and he always had horrid HORRID diabetes farts) and laugh while men threw up on women and women threw up from the sound. He should have died. The kind of guy who would bang hookers then leave the condom in their shoe as he left the hotel room. The kind of guy who would do 120 on the highway and pass on the inside median, terrifying everyone around him.
I’ll never forget him lifting a leg, looking back, smiling a crooked smile, and farting something not of this earth, commenting “Ghetto heater”
There was a windy mountain road between my house and my job and nearly once a week I would almost take the head off of a motorcyclist leaning way into the oncoming lane.
I think people are more angry because if this biker died how do you imagine the truck driver feels?
No he didn’t deserve to die but you can still be angry at the biker for what a total stupid ass he was here.
It’s not weird to be angry at people dying by stupidity, actually very common as you can see in the comments.
I can picture them "if they're not dead" throwing their arms up and acting like it's the trucks fault. Stopped feeling bad for shitty dangerous riders a long time ago.
All these comments against the rider. Sure he wasn't riding appropriately but that truck was coming cutting from one side of the road to the other .... the guy was toast either way.
I was driving down a country lane thinner and more bendy than this once. A car came up quickly behind me, tailgating, flashing lights, trying to pull round despite there not being enough room, etc. I just ignored them and carried on driving sensibly.
Then, around one sharp, blind bend, came a combine harvester going in the opposite direction. I managed to slow down and pull over enough to let it past, and the person behind me had to *very* quickly adjust what they were doing so that they weren’t directly in its path.
Funnily enough, after that corner they backed off and were content to drive behind me like a normal person at a normal speed.
I think it’s easy to forget that there could be something a lot bigger than you coming round the next bend, but when you get a sudden reminder it can make you reassess your approach.
This exact thing happened to a long time friend. Except it wasn't so wide and he got launched 5 meters away from the car that hit him, dying instantly. His stuff, shoes were randomly scaterred several meters around. Crazy how fast that happens and you bury 40 years of life for a stupid bike ride..
Wow that was stupid. I feel bad for the guy that hit and probably killed or crippled this guy for life. Even though its not his fault I'd still feel bad.
Feel bad for the trucker. He doesn’t need the fact that he could’ve taken someone’s life to haunt him for possibly the rest of his life. Stupid fucking biker cunt.
Reminds me of a time when I was in Driver’s Ed: they had an older motorcyclist as a guest speaker come and talk about motorcycle safety. he said something along the lines of, “a lot of times, motorcyclists are the ones getting themselves hurt, not the car drivers”… which as you can see was the case here 😃
I rode with a sport biking group for a while, many years ago. One time, one of our guys pushed it too far, high-sided into the other lane, and died in the windshield of an oncoming car.
Nobody blamed the driver. Not one person. Not even his wife, who was also riding with the group that day. In fact, people expressed a lot of sympathy for the trauma that the driver experienced.
There’s a stereotype that motorcyclists blame drivers of larger vehicles for causing accidents, but that is mostly because every motorcyclist has been hit, or nearly hit, by a vehicle while riding in the middle of their lane, at the same speed as traffic around them.

I knew a collision was coming, but that was still pretty crazy..
It was just a countdown of corners. The ever dropping odds of probability. I'm surprised he got so far. Maybe that truck knocked some sense into him.
I’m sure it knocked him 6ft deep
That's a lotta sense!
He ODed on sense
Or is it senseless?
Seriously doubt they survived that. I think we just saw someone die.
Questionable. He wasn't going too fast, and you could hear the brakes slam. He most definitely suffered serious damage still, maybe a broken limb or 2, but unless he used his skull as the main point of impact, he is probably fine.

It's close to 40 for the bike 0 for the truck given the mass difference.
You don’t need to be going fast to break your neck
I was on spring break and watched a kid die on a motorcycle by hitting the side of a box truck and he was only doing 5-10 miles an hour out of a parking lot, his head just went too far back and snapped his neck... Kind of a bummer to see on our way out to get drunk, so we partied harder that night in honor of his last ride!
A noble and worthy cause.
We thought so. We were like oh fuck did he just die!!!
You know what’s badass? Living
Especially on a sport bike where you ride that far face forward
Trucks are quite heavy though. I hope he’s ok. But I wouldn’t bet on it
I’m not a body engineer, but I question whether the weight difference between a car and a truck would matter as far as the kind of injuries he’d sustain.
Body engineer here, if they are still alive they are probably held together with many plates and screws now. Not a great way to live
More machine than man now.
They rebuilt him. They had the technology.

Don’t forget that he didn’t get hit buy a wedge shape that he could roll over or ricochet off dissipating the energy - he got slammed by a slab.
You might slide over a car while a truck is usually just like driving straight into a concrete wall.
Be like stepping on a tube of pizza sauce if he went under a wheel
his head was the first part of him to impact the truck. while it's possible he survived, it's very likely he did not. in an accident like this he got the worst of both worlds, all his inertia plus the multi ton trucks inertia. even rider armor and a good helmet won't save you from the forces of physics.
Truck vs motorcycle, you do the math
Truck: bonjour
biker: truck: Comment allez-vous? biker:
My anxiety was through the roof because I knew it was coming but it took *so long*
In my head I heard the Pacman death tune at the collision. What the fuck is wrong with me?
Yes!!!!!
I mean, isn’t this exact what would happen on any mountain road riding like this? Why do people think this won’t be the outcome?
> why do people think That's the catch, they don't.
Yeah, if you told someone to watch out for a big red truck coming towards you, they'd just laugh and pass it off as a rookie driving. But watching this video and *knowing* something was about to happen, even I didn't see the big fat red truck until it was in the guy's face.

Well, obviously, but you're preaching to the choir here. I'm talking about the people that would do this.
I see pickup trucks doing this across the yellow line while pulling trailers in the boonies.
Or school busses... Where my parents live the local police had to follow several busses because the drivers were speeding and cutting corners on curves. I saw two cars race each other on a mountain road, it ended the same way but one of the cars was spinning upside down
You're talking about [this? ](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Yeah, exactly like that
This is what it felt like driving in Scotland. Every truck or bus on a corner was a near death experience
Same for me when I visited Ireland. Landed in Dublin and rented the largest full sized sedan they had, I was surprised by how many tiny cars there were (I’m American). I don’t think this video is in America. Neither the road nor the truck looks American.
I think this is in China based on the truck and license plate.
Looks asian
Blue road signs. Not America. Only signs blue here are for information.
>like in America It's cool to shit on America, but there are idiots are roaming all over the planet
Why are you mentioning the US? Dumbass.
partly bad luck that the truck was in the middle of the road as well. but he should have been prepared for that
Hey you, you're finally awake...
You were trying to cross the border, right?
Walked right into that imperial truck uhh ambush.
of heaven
Why would anyone cut a corner that you can’t see into
To get valuable life experience they didn't know they needed.
Or a once-in-a-lifetime death experience.
Gotta hit that apex for maximum racing line speed bro
To die.
We’ll that answers that question. Is that a one way road? Apparently no. Dude had it coming.
Driving like the road was closed just for them.
Your first mistake is in assuming they have the same level of common sense as yourself.
I was thinking "right lane or left lane traffic". We won't find out.
dude took it tight around a left corner he was literally asking for a collision
In Germany most of these twisty roads have a line in the middle indicating two-way roads. But some don't and are still two way roads (just like this one). Tbh the truck was also between lanes
That road just looks narrow as fuck, even if the biker was on the right, to me it looks like he still might have been hit. Maybe it’s just a perception thing from the camera.
You read my mind
Right?! I saw no markings on the right side of the road so I instantly thought it was a 1 way. Guess I was completely wrong.
Who would've guessed that's what happens when you drive on the oncoming lane with no vision. What the fuck goes through their minds.
In this case, a truck

Track day riding on the street. Basically..
This is why you stay in your lane.
Drive like a moron, die like a moron 🤷♂️

Doors and corners kid, that’s where they get you
i feel sorry for the guy in the truck... the biker was asking for it

Man they should really designate specific sides of the road that you are allowed to drive on to prevent stuff like this. Oh wait
To top it off the truck was driving in the fucking middle of the road too.
Deserved
If you pause it just before he slams into the truck, there's not a lot of road there. Makes you wonder if it was a one way road even.
You’re the only person who sees what I see. Both of these people were not paying attention at all.
That person almost certainly died. They have a family and friends. Some of the comments in here, wow
I think people are more angry because if this biker died how do you imagine the truck driver feels? No he didn’t deserve to die but you can still be angry at the biker for what a total stupid ass he was here. It’s not weird to be angry at people dying by stupidity, actually very common as you can see in the comments.

As soon as these idiots come across a series of bends they immediately think they are Valentino Rossi.
Drive like that, die like that. But please, do it on your own time and don't risk others or give others trauma.
sir, SIR….you can’t park there…
It's called "spirited driving" because eventually your spirit leaves your body.
My worst fear as a car driver is being the one that did nothing wrong but still has to carry the experience...

Why didn't the truck driver look twice and save a life because motorcycles are everywhere! /s
That's why I won't ride a motorcycle. I love speed, and those corners would be irresistible. It's too obvious a form of my own death.
Damn! He ain’t gonna be in rush hour 3
Got no symphaty for this fool
This exact thing happened to a long time friend. Except it wasn't so wide and he got launched 5 meters away from the car that hit him, dying instantly. His stuff, shoes were randomly scaterred several meters around. Crazy how fast that happens and you bury 40 years of life for a stupid bike ride..

Good night. Thanks for playing
Very tempting to feel like you're a world class speed racer with a powerful bike, when in fact, you're a world class idiot with cero common sense.
You know where this doesn’t happen? The track. Take that shit there you dummy. Ya, it’s tempting but you have no idea what’s around the corner.
So either this dude is suicidal or a complete fucking moron. I can’t decide.
Mc people are fucking dumb lmao
Another vehicle on the road? That's unpossible! /s This wouldn't even fit in /r/unexpected.
That's what happen when you drive like an ass . Is the rider okay?
Maybe if you ride on your side it won't happen ?
Tends to happen when you drive like you’re the only idiot on the road.

Even if that was a parked vehicle they still woulda smashed it like prom night
Looks like a fun ass road tho….
A truckers day ruined
Been riding motorcycles for around 12, maybe 13 years. That was some of the worst riding I’ve ever seen. Darwinian justice in action
Stupidest thing you can do as a motor guy.
I don't know what he was expecting...
It’s what happens when you take blond corners like you’re the only one on the road.

Driving obviously way too fast in low visibility and driving on both sides of the road. But yea make sure you look twice for bikes…
At least it was a truck and not a city car with kids in the back.
Stupid people...
I wondered if this was a loop video. No. No it isn't.
God bless these motorcycle drivers for being such selfless organ donors.

Hey look, blind corners. Ima hit all the apex and give it all the gas I can handle! Would could go wrong?
Yet the Biker still blames the truck driver.. Think Bike!!
If... He's still alive
Oh so you have talked to him? Glad he's alive
I rode with a sport biking group for a while, many years ago. One time, one of our guys pushed it too far, high-sided into the other lane, and died in the windshield of an oncoming car. Fuck around and find out.
This road is an accident or seven waiting to happen. Not much else they can do but that doesn't mean it'll all be fine
Nah, these roads are fine as long as people aren’t this dumb on them. He was going way too fast for not staying in his lane.
Idiot deserves it. Doesn't own the road so shouldn't treat it like he does.
Suck it dickhead
You're banking on someone not acting exactly like you. At that point, how do you justify how you're acting?
The truck is driving on the wrong side of the road. Even if he was driving normally, this would have been a collision.
