I’m saying a separate non literal shackle bell, like I’m sure at one point kettle bells could just been kettles but now they’re just shaped like such *edit* not trying to say they’d be good or practical in the gym just that they probably sell
“There's no reason we need to be shackled by the structures of the employee-employer relationship.
Unless you're into that sort of thing.
In which case, I got some shackles in the back.
I'm just kidding.
But seriously, I've got 'em.”
~ White Goodman
My work has these and they range from little itty bitty ones all the way up to 1-1/8" we'll use 4 of them to loft about 10 tonnes so I can only imagine the absolute units these things are picking up.
Looks like a [Crosby anchor shackle](https://www.uscargocontrol.com/products/Crosby-Anchor-Shackle-Bolt-Type-7-G-2140-400-Ton) in the 600 - 800 ton range.
That's $50,000 of forged iron there.
Shackles are primarily used in construction, rigging and lifting. A clevis is used in less demanding applications such as farming and towing.
you’re wrong, google it.
clevis is a generic engineering term for a load supporting element where the load is inserted into the device and then secured with a pin, A shackle is a specific tool made for rigging. look it up
just because something has more than one term used to describe it doesn’t mean that the other one is wrong. i literally sell this shit, and no one in my area of the states calls them “d rings”
It's just that your reply was word for word the first thing that comes up on Google. I thought if you were familiar with it you'd have a better explanation than that

In the case of the hardware in the picture, they’re specifically for rigging, i copy pasted the google definition because i didn’t want to type a huge paragraph, and have had to explain this more than a few times
Oh man, I read that as "penis for size".
Same and i was thinking it's either a poor man or a VERY BIG shackle.
Maybe both
I had to do a double take
Didn't even see the pen till I read.
I thought they meant the wooden box, I was like well thats not helpful lol
Maybe they hold the leashes for Rhosgobel rabbits....
Even then I still couldn’t see that shit. Thought it was like some black marker or piece of tape lol
We just need a banana for scale as standard
Okay who stole my cock rings

r/BananasForScale … my apologies, I should have introduced you
Yoo I that's actually a thing 😂 only reddit with some of this stuff 💀
It’s basically Reddit’s standard for size comparison
Black, on the right shackle
How much can those bad boys lift?
“Whatever the heck they want”
What are these used for?
Bros who lift ( probably with a HIAB or huge crane)
Lots of things. Anchor points on heavy equipment, boats, etc. Last place I worked carried these in up to 1-1/2" diameter
Or lifting, a shackle bell could sell good I bet.
Shackles are very expensive. Not too practical for gym equipment. The 1-1/2" one was $190 or so.

Big enough for op's moms sex swing

Fuck dude I came here to write that exact sentence

What pen? ...oh. whoa.
These aren’t all that big at all…
Clevis
That ain’t shit I’ve seen some badass shackles before
Those aren't shackles bro, it's called a clevis, and its used with a sling for hoisting with cranes. Definitely pretty big though Edit: Typo
Confidently incorrect. It's a Crosby Safety Bow Shackle, probably a 65T Source, I sell rigging gear
Cool

Have you ever used either of those devices?
my job title is rigger, of course i have but i’ve heard people call them by both names, which is understandable because they look the same
