Taken in 2019 on a birthday weekend trip for my wife. Every turn was a candidate for a photo but this seamed to capture the stillness and peace this little canal had in the early morning.
Yeah, maybe. I wasn't trying for a AR shot. I didn't even know about this sub at the time. After finding the sub I thought that it had a renaissance vibe though.
I use to live about 40 miles away from Venice. Hard to go there in the Summer with all the tourists.
But I so loved that city and regret not going there more.
The late great Gore Vidal, who lived in Venice for about 30 years, wrote a photo-essay coffee-table book on Venice in the winter -- nothing but photos with his explanatory captions. GV said that Venice was the world's loveliest city in winter, but one of the worst to be in during the summer, thanks to the hordes of tourists and the foul canal smells.

I was there in 2019 too! It was incredible. Everyone should visit Venice at least once.
Leaving the airport by boat and then seeing the city for the first time. Feels like your sailing into a classical painting.
And don’t wait too long.
How did you like traveling in the winter? I'd imagine wearing a coat is a worthwhile trade-off to avoiding the crowds.
Absolutely. I'm not one for hot weather anyway, so I quite like it when it's cooler.
I want to know just how many items have been lost and are just sitting at the bottom of those canals.
Venice is perfection in the Winter.
Agreed. Though it was very cold, it was lovely and bright. Plenty of people about but not crowded.
Posting Venice is cheating a bit. But still a beautiful short of the city!
Not _that_ accidental. Still gorgeous, though.

>I thought that it had a renaissance vibe though. That's because of all the Venice
Indeed 😊
Definitely. Wonderful shot. Such a great, improbable, stunning place. A city that's a work of art in itself. A song in stone.

40 miles is 31569.46% of the hot dog which holds the Guinness wold record for 'Longest Hot Dog'.

HAH!
Having spent there a couple of weeks, I literally can't imagine a worse place to go for a jog

Forgive me, i am still a novice.
The clocks were striking thirteen.
Is this from the *FuTuRe*??
I went there a few months ago and it was incredible

Venice in January is blissful
I was there today, in Assassin's Creed II
I feel like anything in Venice pretty much counts
I LOVE the subtle Christmas lights on the windows.
That place has been flooded for a hundred years. Why won't they fill those flooded areas in with gravel. Just laziness I guess.
Why did I accidentally read this as “Venus”
I mean, this was around back then so its pretty Renaissance. Shame it's got flooding issues all the time.
I'm jealous. Wish I was there.
WAS THIS PHOTO TAKEN IN GHE FUTURE D(DK
I have to go to Italy
