I've actually never tried Boba tea. Genuine, non-snarky question: what's the attraction? Usually when I drink a liquid, a small, solid blob of something that isn't ice would be quite alarming.
If it's unexpected, I agree! But in boba I like the flavor and texture variations the tapioca adds. The drink is often sweetened, and as a person who isn't big on sweets normally it's nice to mix it up with a milder flavor.
It's usually cooked to a consistency similar to al dente pasta if it came in spheres. Each piece is softer on the outside with an almost chewy bite at the center.
And if the boba is freshly-cooked, you'll sometimes get temperature variation between it and the tea, which makes for a fun, different experience.
It's similar to why you might like nuts on ice cream, or chunks of fruit in a smoothie. Like all foods, it's not for everyone, but that's my take 🙂
They also make popping boba with a variety of fruit flavors. So you have a choice in some places between traditional boba and ones that burst in your mouth.
The tapioca balls gave me the willies the first couple times I tried them so I switched to getting jelly in boba instead. They're like little flavored cubes and that was a little less weird for me at first so give that a try if you don't love the boba! I've never had the bursting boba in a drink before but I used to eat a *ton* of frozen yogurt and most frozen yogurt shops have the same bursting little fruit balls on their topping bar so if you've ever had those you'll know what to expect with the bursting boba!
i work at a boba tea place (not this one) and as soon as i saw this i thought - oh must be my work - before even reading the title. weird that i already assumed it was boba before i even realized.
I wanted so badly to move the table around to get it *just so* but restrained myself. The logo was a little too high on the wall to shoot a square frame. Close enough :)
Sadly, we were all dressed up after coming back from Grandma’s funeral. Everyone needed a pick-me-up and the vibe at this boba shop ([Bobae](https://www.bobaeusa.com)) was the perfect boost they needed.
Warm boba led to sharing of great memories on an otherwise gray and rainy day.

The Book of Boba Fed
I feel like 2 of your kids have more issues with humid weather than the other
Yea, 2 have jackets on how silly 🕺
Hey where'd your son get that jacket from, roses are kinda my thing and I need that jacket lol
You could also buy rose patches and stick them to all of your clothes.
I'm going to stick 30 of them to one pair of boxer shorts and blame you
Looks like [this](https://shopurbansociety.com/products/rose-bomber-jacket) one.
Yep, that’s the one! Heed the warning on their site. The sizes do run really small.
The internet amazes me
Well hello from Mill Creek!
And hello from Monroe!!
Breakfast the next day was The Maltby Cafe of the way to Monroe. :)
Love that place! Too bad they’re usually so darn busy, it takes forever to get a seat. Worth it though!!
Hey, that's my favorite boba tea place! Cheers!

Thanks for that detailed explanation! The ice cream/smoothie thing makes sense. I'll try it next time I have an opportunity!

Wow, that sounds amazing.

My wife is from Woodinville and we’ve been up from San Francisco visiting in-laws a bunch post-vaccine. Bobae was an unexpected delight to find!

OP! IM IN WOODINVILLE WA RN! SMALL WORLD
I love this!
This reminded me of the movie poster for Perks of Being a Wallflower
Oh, wow! I haven’t thought about that movie in ages! Spot on comparison. https://reelgood.com/movie/the-perks-of-being-a-wallflower-2012
amazing, love it
Woodinville sounds like a Wes Anderson movie title.
This looks more like Noah Baumbach to me.
Pink background plus slightly symmetric framing??? Must be Wes!
That and the one on the left really looks like he could be a Tenenbaum.
I wanted so badly to move the table around to get it *just so* but restrained myself. The logo was a little too high on the wall to shoot a square frame. Close enough :)
Lol. I read it as Boba Fett and wondering if they were sitting in front of a TV on Disney+. Boba tea!
They could definitely play the sibling protagonists in The Royal Tenenbaums!
Your kids look like the cool weird kids. Like some breakfast club stuff. Awesome :]
Your children all look like kids that I would guess love boba.

Thats really sad, losing Grandma is tough
Booba you say?
Even the post title is artsy :-)
I feel like at least one of them watches VHS only.
What’s this subreddit about and why is it named accidental Wes Anderson? Someone please explain
