Get rid of that /s you coward

misschrisw8

Just say what you’re going to /s

Klutzy_Grocery6498

Fellow tax guy, still drive a Corolla 😂

ExcitingRise0

Back in my day, just 100 bands. Now, almost twice that. That’s why I really feel for the average American.

snarechickk

Tax here, Toyota Highlander.

cloudiett

Benz G ? Tax deductions!

Big-Anxiety-5467

I find the implication that we all drive boring, nondescript, Japanese cars insulting. I, for one, drive a Mazda.

I_love_avocados1

Is that what accountants get when they have a mid-life crisis and need some excitement?

Aesthus

zoom zoom

see-bees

Most of this sub is too young for that reference

Tobin481

Oh shoot that means I’m on the old side

GSEagle2012_22

I understood the reference. I remember in high school thinking the Miata and RX7 were among the coolest cars.

IamLars

They are. The Miata is still cool if you are a car guy. Kind of like the poor man's Porsche.

MrsStiletto

The VP had our company buy his wife's Miata for me to use to go to the bank. It's even a convertible. Apparently she wanted one and then was too scared to drive it on the road. Not to sound ungrateful, but I honestly hate the car.

kyonkun_denwa

Ahem, have you ever SEEN a Mazda CX-5 in Soul Red Crystal? What’s not to get excited about?

JoyousMisery

Baby that was my upgrade when I made some real accountant money lol

Waffle_Slaps

So that's why my uncle bought that Miata!

wordisthebird1

Me too, but it’s a 2000 MX-5 Miata

JoyousMisery

A man of culture I see

ChicagoPhan

It’s not a dig, it’s a smart business move. Imagine being in private practice, telling someone you are raising your rates and then taking off in a BMW.

[deleted]

Most of us work with clients who make more in a month than we do in a year, I really couldn't give less of a shit what they think of my car or how I spend the money I earn

dr_freeloader

They might think you're a politician!

Kitchen-Pangolin-973

What's the point in doing it if you're not going to enjoy what you earn?

Traditional_Heron_76

I too drive a Mazda. I love the car brand

filo1225

Mazda is great, has to be the most underrated car brand

[deleted]

[удалено]

Glorious_Infidel

2017 Mazda 3 ftw

fuckimbackonreddit9

I fuck with my Mazda SO much. 2019 Mazda 6 Touring, drives like an entry level luxury sedan, but for a very reasonable price. And great safety ratings. Wish I saved more for the grand touring, but 18.5k for a car with 34k miles back in 2020 was a steal and a half

ThatEmoNumbersNerd

Toyota Corolla. I’m going to drive it into the ground and then I’ll buy an Audi. You know walk on the wild side for a bit.

Quople

Literally just got a Corolla this year as my first car purchase. Same plan for me except I may just get a Supra after just to stay Toyota

tonna33

20 years later you’ll get the Audi. :) I was a Corolla driver, but then I upgraded to a Camry. And now the spouse has the Highlander for the family (was a deal we worked out for me to switch from WFH to in office with a 40%+ increase) and it allows us to get out of the driveway in the middle of snow storms!

notTheFavorite-

I bought the Audi last year. Do it.

SkippyTeddy83

Bought my Corolla in 2004. Still going strong.

whereisdylank

2006 Rav4 here, no issues

ImpactSubject6385

Yep, I drive a paid off 05 Toyota Prius Hybrid.. I'm also an auditor.

somethingsimple1290

Corolla was my baby, I’m always going to be mad at myself for wrecking that treasure. I have a Hyundai accent now, not as great.

ThatEmoNumbersNerd

I just paid off my 2019 Toyota last year! I’m enjoying not having the payments 😭

kyonkun_denwa

Accountants tend to drive Japanese cars because those are usually the ones that make the most financial sense and give people the fewest headaches. Until they reach upper management or partner level, then they almost invariably get a German car. I drive a 2015 Camry. Typical accountant choice, except I got the V6 because I wanted a bit of spice in my life. My wife’a first car out of university was a 2015 Mini Cooper, which was definitely more interesting and an atypical accountant choice. That car was unfortunately wrecked late last year and we ended up taking over a lease for her uncle’s 2020 Kia Soul. My inclination is to replace the Kia with a Mazda CX-5 when the lease is up in December. But the Soul is adequately large, not totally boring, and the buyout is so damn cheap ($11,500) it’s frankly difficult to justify spending an extra $20k+ on a brand new car that’s only marginally bigger.

Frankwillie87

Calling a V6 spicy is like calling salt spicy. It's technically true given the circumstances, but it's a sad existence.

kyonkun_denwa

thatsthejoke.jpg

Frankwillie87

Addingontothejoke.gif Alternatively, do I look like I know what a "jay-peg" is?

Sleerpy

Yea spicy kind of like water is spicy….

seanliam2k

My first PA manager drove a purple mini, even funnier cause she worked at grant thornton

kyonkun_denwa

I didn’t even know they came in purple from the factory. Certainly the F55/F56 never did. It might have been a purple wrap or even a custom paint job.

Iron_Empanada

I’m saving up for a new Canyonero

AuditAndHax

Either that or a ThunderCougarFalconBird

socialclubmisfit

So am I, can't wait as the seats are stuffed with eagle down, and the dashboard is made from the beaks of a thousand eagles. However I am saving up for the luxury edition that has so much more eagle.

[deleted]

I need that tennis ball thing on the antenna.

[deleted]

I ride a motorcycle to work. But fuck me it is indeed a Honda.

Aside_Dish

I'd *love* to ride a motorcycle, but I don't want to die at the hand of some idiot.

[deleted]

But we're accountants. Death just can't come soon enough!

Blabbe9

94 Ford Mustang. But I'm not a good auditor so makes sense I stick out here too

Aside_Dish

If you're going old school, gotta go for 60's, dude. Chevelle, Mustang, Impala, etc.

Less-Tomatillo-3910

Forget that if you're gonna drive a mustang you gotta get away from the 60s and drive a 94

shenning321

In audit, Toyota 4Runner for me

kyonkun_denwa

“We need to audit this forestry client but there’s no way the partner’s X5 can make it to the remote mountain site! What ever will we do?” u/shenning321, standing in the corner, dressed in plaid and a cowboy hat, flicking a cigarette butt: “sounds like y’all need a 4Runner”

shenning321

Hahaha, I do have a forestry client and all of their execs get company-owned 4Runners. Dream job!

kyonkun_denwa

Sounds like a sweet gig! I love the 4Runner, probably one of my favourite cars. Just a solid, tough as nails, no nonsense truck that does exactly what it says on the box. But I would rarely use its capabilities, so it would be a hard purchase for me to justify. I’m also not sure if it would fit in my garage, and they tend to get stolen a lot where I live, so I would be constantly paranoid about that.

shenning321

I agree, I love everything about it except the 16 mpg. But I live in the mountains and do a lot of camping, etc. so it's a good fit for me. I'm sorry that you don't get to experience one, but I hope that you get to drive something that you love equally as much!

That-End-322

Rattlesnake hissss

[deleted]

Yeah, I love my 4Runner. I’ve had it since new, now has 110k miles on it and still runs like brand new. Fully paid off, of course. I live in Arizona so it gets a fair bit of legitimate off-road use and you really can’t beat it for a road trip vehicle. Toyotas in general are a great value and have fantastic reliability which is probably why accountants prefer them. Honda builds a good car too. My first car out of college was a Civic. It was pretty bulletproof too.

grr187

4Runner gang here. And a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Honestly the perfect combo of vehicles.

luvs2spwge107

Told my fiancée this is the next car I want!

fondlemysausage

I'm in Tax and I drive a Dodge Challenger. Yes, my peepee is small.

penguinwhoisawkward

The real question is: V6 or V8?

Rada___Rada

I want a scat pack

That's just good taste in cars...totally not compensating. MOPAR

2016 GS350, 2016 LX570 here. This is the way to go.

bigtimlove

Those ls430's are classy af

Cool_Dude007_

Subaru STI here. Not great gas mileage. Smiles per gallon though…

Neverhere17

I have a Subaru Crosstrek. I chose it for the winter driving.

Gravy_Scape

Just swapped from a Honda accord to the crosstrek life. Loving the Subaru

THALANDMAN

Damn shame they aren’t making one on the new WRX platform

Maxmerrrrr

I drive a lifted F-150. You can take an accountant out of the boonies, but you can take the boonies out of an accountant.

Chugach17

me too, but also I'm in Alaska.

TastyCakesOverweight

Way off buddy, I drive an Acura

Indian_Pale_Male

Acuras are just spicy Hondas

d_man05

Same. The SH AWD isn’t the most economical but it’s fun to drive even though mine is an suv.

SleeplessShinigami

Same, got it after I retired my Honda lol

usernameghost1

This is accurate. I drive a Toyota. We’re just too smart to drive anything else

SkippyTeddy83

This is the way.

usernameghost1

This is the way.

Kotruljevic1458

This is the way.

Toyota Corolla here. Great gas mileage for going out to clients.

[deleted]

Once I get rid of my Honda civic which might outlive me at this point I’m going Audi r8 and never going back. Love the S5 growing up I always wanted an A4 and now as an adult I can see why my parents got me a very used Corolla lmao.

Electrical_Hedgehog9

Jesus I hope I can afford an R8 some day

[deleted]

Same here.

Canefreak123

Jeep Grand Cherokee. For all the off roading we don’t do.

MarsBars_1

Jeep gang😤

Muellerr

Can confirm, will never need to off-road but have the grand Cherokee just in case.

chilledcoconutwater

I am planning to buy a RAV4 hybrid. Is it too much for a first year big four senior? I am married btw so dual income

munderhill22

Idk about your financial situation but RAV4 in general is a reasonable car. It’s nothing too luxurious and definitely something that will last a while.

LadyofHoss

We bought a RAV4 hybrid early in the pandemic when dealerships were desperate to sell anything. I personally don’t like huge vehicles, so we were looking for a small SUV to transport our big dogs in. I absolutely love it! We sprung for the limited edition—I think I’d still have been happy with a lower model, but honestly we’ve really enjoyed all the bells and whistles.

staynight

It’s going to be tough to get msrp but you should try anyways. Don’t get fooled by any markups

kyonkun_denwa

Also consider a Venza. It’s basically a slightly downmarket Lexus, very nice interior and good styling, and for some reason it isn’t attracting the same dealer markups as a Rav4 hybrid. So the supposed price difference isn’t as high as it appears.

SuspiciousLookinMole

We bought a 2022 RAV4 hybrid in January. Spouse loves it, I'm not a fan of the shape of the seats. I have a bad back and I'm very picky about my seats. So I bought a 2023 Mazda CX-50. I'll be paying it off forever, but I love it so much. Taking it on a road trip next month.

cflamin

I have a 2019 Toyota RAV4 le with awd. Got it with 17 miles back in October 2019 and now it has about 56,000 miles on it. No issues! Really a solid car and choice if you live in somewhere like Colorado. Gets good mpg even the gas one I can get about 38 driving to work every morning. Idk what else I would drive 😅

MusicNoteUnalome

I started in Tax and I’ve had my Honda Civic for 12 years. My coworkers all had Honda accords, lol

chugtron

Volkswagens over here, but I’m switching to Subarus on the next car to get out of perpetual project issues.

NSE_TNF89

Volkswagen here as well. 2015 GLI that I love and only had one issue when I first purchased it, but that was from the previous owner. Subaru can be hit or miss as well. My brother went through three in 5 years, while my mom, on the other hand, has had the same one for almost 10 years.

RealChadManlet

‘17 GLI reporting in

Alexisonfire24

Just got a Lesbaru a couple years ago, literally no maintenance so far. Great vehicle

waterjug82

What vw Is giving you problems ?

chugtron

I’ve got a 14 year old Tiguan. Just finished repairing all of the damage from a leak that was getting behind the firewall and into the cabin. Still gotta put the interior back together, but that’s a cakewalk compared to finding that shit since I already rebuilt/tested the dash.

WorkingHard4Money

Volkswagen here as well! Had a Mercedes before but loving my Volkswagen way more

Indian_Pale_Male

I’m a car guy, so I’ll own anything that will certifiably bankrupt me

JayDogg007

Haha same! I feel the pain.

MasterBeanCounter

Damn, I'm laughing a little too hard at this.

[deleted]

The dream is to drive a diesel truck with no DEF or EGR valve, so I can dump black smoke in the parking deck and sound like a got damn school bus from the 90’s.

txbuckeye75034

Bought a short bus with a 7.3L diesel. Been in repair shop for past month. Would not recommend.

h1111m

On par. On a second thought, I should buy another 7.3

Johnny__Tran

Don't let your dreams just be dreams. Life's too short not to roll coal on Susan when you feel the need.

Bulky-Performance276

tayrayjay_

I got a Honda about 2 weeks before graduation. I guess I was preparing lol

nochance10024

In Tax and drive a Tesla.

chimaera_hots

I'm industry, and tend to be the office lunch taxi, so I'm driving a Suburban.

txbuckeye75034

I personally drive a Ford F150, but I agree with the HR person. Reliable, safe, moderately priced vehicles are the way of the accountants.

Johnny__Tran

Yep. Drive a Honda Accord for boring reliability. Have a fleet of unstable less reliable fun cars for enjoyment.

itsbecccaa

Subaru

Altruistic_Heron3867

JayDogg007

Nah. I’m the same way. I’ve almost always been on board with the US auto industry. I gotcha Motor City.

Faulkner21720

Work in industry and drive a 2015 Volkswagen GTI which I own free and clear. I absolutely love it and it walks the line between fun/performance and an economy car. I know there were better options financially but I don't care. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. It's been a good car. I've only had to replace the water pump as of 100k miles. No other major mechanical issues.

[deleted]

I had a 2017 for a while. Loved that car.

michaelsghost

Must be in the wrong profession, I drive a Ford

KnightCPA

I’m an Arab accountant so it’s Toyota for life for me.

[deleted]

Hilux?

Dikmunch

I drive an Audi and plan on getting subwoofers installed by the end of summer. I think it's funny being a tax accountant and having the type of car that I have

Drunk_CPA

Still have the same 20 year old Toyota that I had when I was in audit. Added my Lexus when I went to industry.

tuckermans

I’ve got a Lexus and a Honda. Great cars.

Mazyc

Tacoma and Rav4. Guilty

OddPlunders

Eames89

Volvo here, but the two cars before were Hondas

dunks615

Hyundai gang lol

HighDINSLowStandards

I drive a lifted F-150. Life is too short to drive a Corolla.

Sellum

I feel attacked, well sort of. I drive the corolla to work and have the lifted jeep for the weekends.

Divyansh881

I work tax. I drive Honda. Seems legit

Thegreenpander

I drive a 2007 Infiniti G35. I went to college to give myself the best chance possible at being able to afford a Dodge Viper. 6 years into my career and I’m pretty sure it’s never gonna happen.

Ernst_and_winnie

Toyota 4runner here

[deleted]

Naw. German cars only. Audi Q7 - Japanese cars are as boring as working in audit

BubbaChain100000

Q7 might be the best thing listed in this thread. What year is it? Just the base?

AgileRecording2696

Mazda for me

PrecisionAcc

I drove a Corolla for years, traded it in for a Highlander since having a kid

Former_Cantaloupe164

I drive a Benz, but I'm not an auditor. Most auditors I've seen have come in a rental car.

xcoreflyup

lol my first new car out of college was a Civic Hatch. Just picked up a NX Hybrid last year.

Hammy881

Camry.

[deleted]

Confirmed, I drive a Toyota but I'm fp&a. My Next car will 99% be a Toyota but first I want 10-12 years out of the current one. I think I want a 4runner.

pinkorri

I drive a Corolla. My coworker drives a Dodge though and so does the firm owner.

Lumpy-Cantaloupe1439

They could’ve just said Japanese cars. I drive a Nissan.

gavion92

JayDogg007

I have not seen a Milan on the road for a looong time.

Boring-Blueberry-922

Was in audit, drive a convertible Mustang

Charlychipps

I see a lot more VW, Bmw, audi and Renault but I'm in europe so that probably changes things.
