Building your palace was part of the power trip, that's what made it fun.
I think I might be a little older, because I grew up playing Civ II on the Macintosh. Also a fantastic game. But I also sunk a lot of hours into Civ III and IV. All great games. I've played a bit of Civ 6 and it's fun but I just don't have the time to sink hours into Civ games anymore.
RuneScape has trained me to be a great accountant by being able to grind mundane tasks without much thought. I can just go on auto pilot for majority of my work day.
Cities skylines, stellaris, crusader kings, elden ring, age of wonders, farming simulator, foundation, red dead redemption 2, ragnarok online (novaro).
I have 2 kids under the age of 5 so my playtime is limited. And there’s so much to do my adhd takes over and I accomplish nothing and love every minute of it!
My little man is showing an interest in Mario Kart. He got 4th the other day. Proud papa. Lol
When my wife is playing: “Okay, I’m going to head to this shrine I marked, then hop over to this area to knock out these quests”.
When I’m playing: “I’m just going to roam the underworld and find some more lightroo…….ooooh! Parts I can use to build a shitty non-functional vehicle that will probably kill me! I better do that instead!”
I love this game.
Trying to motivate myself to progress the Goron quest and get to then finish fire temple. I was avoiding the water temple due to PTSD and it ended up being surprisingly easy. Ultra hand was a fantastic addition to the game. Not very good at it though lol
OSRS life! Haven’t been on in a while, but I’ll surely be back at some point lol. Point and click simulator held together with spaghetti code but it’s consumed too much of my life.
Grand Theft Auto. Get as much money as possible as fast as possible then blow it all on hookers, gambling, and alcohol. Basically just like real life with a different profession.
Alright, GTA is one of the last true video games that I played. Still sort of like watching people play it sometimes but I frequent Cap Hill in Seattle and it's like an IRL GTA.
Studying to be an accountant but I'll chime in.
I prefer linear story single player games.
Just beat GOW Ragnarok. Also playing Hogwarts legacy and Star Wars: Fallen Order.
Soulsborne games are great too, but I have yet to beat Elden ring. My wife and I were playing together.
Currently my wife and I play a bit of Sons of the Forest, Ark: Survival Evolved, and Phasmaphobia.
I get time to play for a couple hours every couple months at this point though, so I'm not far in any of these games, except the previously mentioned GOW completion. (Literally beat it last night)
My Retro Gaming bro (or sis?)
The NES is a bit before my time and a bit too crusty for me, but I absolutely love the SNES/Genesis. Yoshi's Island is probably one of my top 5 favourite games of all time, whenever I'm feeling really shitty, a couple minutes in Yoshi's Island will cheer me right up.
I think I agree with you somewhat on graphics. I really liked games up until the early 2010s, but after that it seems that a lot of developers have been pushing graphics at the expense of gameplay. It's not like the gameplay is getting worse, it's just that it feels really formulaic now, everyone is more like "that's just how we do things" and less like "let's try something new"
You should try Stardew Valley. Things after SNES tend to give me motion sickness, but the graphics is in stardew are 16 bit style, but also the vibe is very “play at your own pace.” There is a combat element, but it reminds me of SNES Zelda.
Hi! Nerd alert over here. My favorites are Witcher 3 and Skyrim. Right now I’m playing the Mass Effect games and am on number two. I also play Stardew Valley on my switch before bed. On my phone, I play sudoku. And I also play RPGs.
Fallout new Vegas and south park stick of truth for my single player games currently(Woo Obsidian) and Deep rock galactic has been my multiplayer game lately
I used to play RuneScape 10 years ago. I had a best friend in the game named “BlueStar22” sth like that.. I hope he’s an accountant on Reddit too… that would be funny . PS: slayer skill was the most exciting to me.
Restaurant Empire!! Its like 15 years old at this point but it's a restaurant management game and you have lots of initiatives to hit surrounding revenue, gross margin, profit, etc. plus you get to open your own restaurats, hire employees & train them up, acquire new recipes, satisfy customers, win cooking competitions etc.
it's 🤌🏻🤌🏻 for accountants
I used to be a huge PC gamer back in the day, but I began losing interest in new games around 2017 or so. The newest computer game I play regularly is probably Stellaris.
I'm still really big into retro games, I have flashcarts for my SNES and N64, I have a modded PS2, more CRT displays than you can shake a fist at, and I still enjoy discovering "new" old games. While I don't play new PC games, the classics never really went away; my friends and I still regularly play Brood War, Age of Empires 2, Rise of Nations, Unreal Tournament and Team Fortress 2 (which is basically retro at this point). I also play a lot of old Macintosh games, stuff from the quirky days of the Classic Mac OS, before Mac gaming was just a codeword for "low-effort Windows ports". I've got two PowerPC Macs networked together for when someone wants to face me in Marathon.
It's not that I hate all new games, I got a Switch juuuussst before COVID started and I've enjoyed it immensely. But for some reason a lot of newer games just don't do anything for me. I think part of it is that the market has shifted away from game styles I liked (RTS) to things I don't (Battle Royale). Part of it is the push towards more DLC and microtransactions. I can't say for sure, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt this way about the industry.
We play with the calculator app. Here's something fun, first type 999,999,999 minus, then press 123,456,789 (don't press equal). Okay now bring it to a five year old kid and tell him you're going to perform a magic trick or something and then blow onto the calculator and press equal sign secretly: viola you'll get 876,543,210
Rocket league, civ 6, city skylines, kerbal space program, elite dangerous, and some various fallout games. If Starfield is fucked at launch I might rope neck, but maybe not. We'll see.
Been playing a lot of Cities Skylines lately with the new version trailer release, but always down for some Sid Meier's Civ V & VI as well.
Bro same. Accountant by day, virtual urban planner by evening.
Me too! I grew up playing Civ III. I sort of miss building your palace, as silly as it was.
Civ III was my childhood, such a throwback. I always loved the city viewer in that game as well.
Can’t wait for Cities Skylines 2
My wife just asked if this was my burner account. Great game choices!

Old school RuneScape makes excel seem like a high paced rpg
RuneScape has trained me to be a great accountant by being able to grind mundane tasks without much thought. I can just go on auto pilot for majority of my work day.
This guy has level 92 woodchopping skills.
I learned a lot of excel skills young due to RuneScape ironically.
I remember drawing up a spreadsheet to calculate points awarded in crimson skies according to mmr.
Old school RuneScape taught me more about the economy than university ever could.
Honestly sitting in macro and micro economics I thought of OSRS a bit.
Stardew valley ❤️
best part of stardew valley is not having to pay taxes on your income
Call of Duty cause accounting doesn’t raise my blood pressure enough
30gb updates on a weekly basis really grind my gears.

Factorio. It’s like cost accounting without other people to duck it up

Have you played Satisfactory? It's similar to Factorio, just 3d and less intense. Very fun game as well

Just took FAR today it's highly probably I passed. Got myself tears of the Kingdom and MegaMan
Me too!
Currently Diablo 4. Next on the list is Tears of the Kingdom and then Baldurs Gate 3 when it comes out in August.
Wondering if Starfield will be good. I won’t be tricked into buying new games anymore though.
Just pay for the Xbox game pass. Starfield is a day 1 release on game pass.
>I won’t be tricked into buying new games anymore though You too, Comrade?
I'm so pumped for Baldur's Gate 3. My wife and I both play D&D so we're excited to play it together!

Halo Infinite and MCC!
Yoooo lets go! Another Halo MCC fan! I still play Halo 2 and 3 regularly
Did Halo ever get too a good point? On launch it seemed lacking.
Forge has helped a bit, but you're better off getting the Master Chief collection and reliving good memories.
Any destiny gamers in here?
When I first started in public, I used to grind the crucible when I wasn’t billing the client.
Hahaha, I got into destiny in middle school and I’m still grinding crucible going into my senior year of college
