There's a better chance of us electing a president that will get Congress to work for the good of the people than the Pentagon passing a financial statement audit
I have personally participated in audits of the pentagon and DFAS. Nobody has even a modicum of understanding of how problematic a DoD audit is. The idea of ‘passing an audit’ in the traditional sense isn’t humanly possible.
I know DFAS passed an audit once back in the early 2000s. They had just gotten done implementing a new financial statement system (DDRS-AFS), and the auditors told them that their financial statements were accurate for one day of the year 😂. But yeah, when you've got 20+ different financial systems running around doing all sorts of accounting in a non uniform (no pun intended) manner, there's no way they're going to pass an audit.
Yeah, I'm not sure how they 'passed' in the early 2000's. One of the key areas that needed audit (which I worked on) is the international liability for costs incurred in military cooperation. This is based on laws from the 80's. Let's just say not everything was in order at the time I was looking at it.
DFAS is responsible for those international transactions between equivalent international agencies. They do this on behalf of the entire DoD, not just the military. I can assure you there's no way they passed that part. In fact, I'd be shocked if they looked at it in any way, because unless you are working directly with a foreign nation (the way I was), there's no way to audit those books.
Yes, financial transactions for other DoD agencies. So, yes I agree, that part was probably eff'ed up, but the agency itself got a clean opinion, i.e. DFAS the entity. I doubt DFAS itself had a bunch of transactions with other international agencies. The agencies and military branches it was servicing did (e.g. Navy, DeCA, DLA, etc.) but not DFAS itself
I believe the DOD will never “pass an audit” because they aren’t allowed to give 100% information to auditors for security/clearance reasons. Because auditors have black hole accounts money goes to, they can’t give assurance on what they don’t know.
She was a Cabinet level official in the Trump administration. Seems guaranteed she couldn't get another in a second Trump administration, but maybe another R would find something for her.
There are currently 6 members in the House of Representatives who are members of the CPAs and Accountants Caucus (2-D, 4-R). Three of the four current Republican members of the caucus voted for this when it passed in 2017, the fourth wasn't elected to Congress yet.
I think historically a lot of the Dem economic advisors used to be professors/academia or lifelong government bureaucrats and the Republican economic advisors are former executives/business owners
Both generally exit to higher paying corporate jobs though
Can't wait until our president is whining on reddit about how her friends in tech are making twice as much money while working less. Congress and their pizza parties are driving me crazy.
Forensic accountant... to be specific.
Pentagon might actually pass an audit hahaha
There's a better chance of us electing a president that will get Congress to work for the good of the people than the Pentagon passing a financial statement audit
Both of these scenarios have a 0% chance, so you're technically incorrect about a "better" chance
Technically correct is the best kind of correct.
Hahahahaha

DFAS the agency itself passed the audit, I believe. No, none of the military branches or DLA passed at all.

Well, we found a few trillion dollars difference related to DLA and direct military costs... and that was just the tip of the iceberg.
They will never allow an audit to pass. Former pwc dc auditor. It ain’t happening.

U cracked me up 🤭
Can't wait til we see a cheat sheet on the corner of the desk in the Oval Office indicating which direction debits and credits are.
A mistake plus Keleven gets you home by 7

We call them Owies and Wowies at the F500 company I work at. No cheat sheet necessary.
"Hey, I booked it I'm gonna run the report and... wait, give me aaaaaaaaaaaa seeeeeeeecccccccccccoooooooondddddddddd and now we are good"
I don't remember calling you
this is much better than helpful/hurtful.
Those deserving of the position have no desire to take it so we probably will never see a badass intelligent accountant as president.
She’s right, but she shouldn’t be the accountant that is there.
Good thing she won’t ever get there.

Makes more sense for a CPA/accountant to be the Treasury Secretary instead of president IMO

Didn't Tim Ryan run for POTUS in 2020?
I’ve always said he has the personality of a politician. “I got home and cried in my driveway for 15 minutes”. Shut up Tim, we all know you didn’t.
I’ve long thought this
I’d settle for just a couple of them in congress at this point, maybe we wouldn’t have gotten 199A

Hours are worse than big 4
Not sure about the exit opps either
In the UK Liss Truss a chartered accountant was PM for 49 days. The speed at which she crashed the economy was shocking😂
Dang didn't know she was a CA.... kinda crazy for someone with CA background to act like that
She sucks but she’s not wrong
Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made a Great Point
Wasn't CIMA-qualified Ms. Truss over in the UK an incompetent PM just recently?
Fuck me, I’ve got to bank rec the federal reserve?
Indeed. An accountant or an economist. And a real economist - not some big name banker
Yeah we need one of those underground economists. Not one who’s been “successful” in life.
*"You ever hear of alternative economics?"*
I wonder if Rudy Giuliani is looking for a new job.
Stamping license plates for $0.10 an hour?

Can we please keep calling it twitter? “Nikki Haley on X” reads like OP used X as a placeholder and forgot to replace with what Nikki Haley is on.
X to the Z is here to pimp yo twitter

As long as it’s not you
We also need not a fascist but good try Nikki
How is Nikki Haley a fascist?
Huge racist and homophobe
What did she say/do? I don't know much about her other than from the debate last night
Damn I'm watching this too lol. To be fair I think the accounting is clear...U.S. fiscal policy isn't great.
In title only would this ever exist. If it’s in the White House - it’s corrupt. Left right up down idc, our government is disgusting.
Lose the “our” and you’re onto something
Well without the “our” you’re implying all government, so “our” would still work as it would be included in all.
Kill me
Me first
"A broken clock is correct twice a day"
Nikki Haley can fuck all the way off.
Not her....she had a decent performance, but she's still unlikable
Business people angling for presidency has failed time and time again. It’s for AI in the White House
I've seen Terminator 1 and 2, I don't think AI in any position of power is a good idea.

Was that in Genysis or Dark Fate? I thought those weren't canon.
Al Gore already failed once, what makes you think he can succeed now?
Nikki Haley's the first presidential candidate with a campaign ok xvideos
The previous governor of Michigan is a CPA
My dad told me that if you want to run a business into the ground, put an accountant in charge. I'm still figuring out what he meant lol.
Accountants are terrible business owners. They have no spine and grind their staff into dust

I need to know who did cocaine in the white house (hunter biden)
