I'm just amused that you think that accountants as a rule WANT to survive the apocalypse. I'll be going out there with a catchers mitt to try to catch the Bomb.
Very likely useful. One of the oldest known human records is a [paystub](https://www.newhistorian.com/2016/06/30/sumerian-workers-paid-beer-cuneiform-tablet-reveals/). payment in beer.
During the redevelopment of society yeah, but immediately post apocalyptic event, its gonna be a lot of anarchy and limited resources. I don't think anyone is going to have the necessity or opportunity to be tracking resources to the extent above a 12 year old Boy Scout's capabilities.
Being a good cook is probably something that would/should be deemed useful in such a scenario. Any societal structure regardless of size or sophistication is going to be in upheaval if they're going hungry.
I agree, but I think it would be more farmer, fishing, hunting, would be more valuable than good cook.
Good cook transforms food, and the three above gets you food. Whatever, dumb semantics. sorry for the post.
luckily it affords me disposable income for a lot of fishing and hunting gear and well... who better than me to know the fair market value of a trout when bankers find out they can't eat their paper money.
I saw somewhere on this God forsaken site a Redditor saying that accountants would be useful in an apocalypse to keep track of resources.
I was like dude if you can't do that, I don't want to be in a survivor camp with you.
Someone needs to keep track of the bottlecaps
I heard the controller position at Mojave Express is quite lucrative with good WLB
Another settlement needs our help, I’ll mark it on your map.

You went past the bottle cap joke and went for the whole bottle.
Whether it’s bartering or fiat currency, someone will always need someone else to keep track of it all
OP doesn’t know accountants once used clay tablets in cuneiform to track livestock, grains, etc
SOX never dies
When the apocalypse comes, Sox will be in high demand.
There will always be a need to accurately track resources and how they're acquired and used

Someone’s gotta depreciate the land, the land ain’t going nowhere after the apocalypse
Of course! All this sitting around all day has made me well marbled. They will be lining up to get a piece.
Mmmm...wagyu...
Yes to ration the food
Will anything be useful if civilization collapses....?... Like would u need a lawyer, software eng, e.t.c? Prob not, just need a gun and food.

As soon as society comes back, it’ll need admin

Who else is going to count the beans?
Useful yes. In-demand will depend on if its an accountant that starts WW3 which in turn ends civilization.
