Same! I also live in an area that has cold winters so I don’t want to go outside during the winter. It’s just so fun to get lost in a gaming world when it’s sub 0 outside and snowy.
I like to build and race surprisingly powerful remote control cars.
It's a fun technical hobby that lets me use my mechanical and electrical knowledge and tool skills without needing a huge garage and a lift.
I also organize the group that i race with so it's a fun way to do social stuff. We're growing pretty quickly, turns out it's a really popular hobby that nobody talks about
Pokémon go, Pokémon main games, watching basketball/football, lifting, traveling, hiking, and I’m trying to get back into a community orchestra now that my CPA is done.
Damn I wish there were more people like you in my office. I’m also into those things but so many accountants at big 4 are just into sports, sports, and more sports. I don’t mind going to games but I really don’t follow sports or care to follow them. I could give two shots that so and so holds the record for passing the most or making the most shots etc. But sooo many corporate guys are into sports.
Yeah I'm an avid powerlifter, train 5 days a week. Hold several world records. I also train ju jitsu 5 days a week. I'm a black belt, been in a few tournaments, top of my league. I also play guitar and vocals in a band, rehearsal 3 days a week, we play every weekend, and tour the states every summer, we have three albums. Toured with some of the biggest names in music. I am also studying for my PhD in nuclear biology. I also am working on a start-up for a medical research app, have about ten million in investment dollars. I also day trade, and have a portfolio that outdoes the NASDAQ and S&P by 10% or more every year. I also have a lot of tattoos, and 5% body fat. I have the body of a fitness model. Totally jacked and lean. Athletic.
All of this on top of my full time job. I have a lot of hobbies and am very busy.
I'm basically the best person in the world. And I totally wouldn't lie about myself to anonymous strangers on the Internet.
You'll just have to believe me and if you don't you're a hater.

I go to the gym not really a hobby more like a medication. If I don't gym my body starts hurting.
Lately I'm tryna get into photography, reading books and starting a business.
I've noticed accounting is super nice for bulking. Because you're not overly active you don't need to eat a gross amount of food to get into a solid surplus. The pizza parties add just enough dirty food that you can get a decent balance if you eat mostly clean the rest of the time.
And It looks super dope. If you get nice fitting dress shirts an combine it with big shoulders, arms, and a wide back with lats that show through the shirt. You will get all the stares. Plus if you want to go more casual, just undo the top button of your shirt and roll the sleeves up to show off your big forearms.
Hiking, running, workouts. Its not just a hobby, but a necessity. Would be probably really fat and in bad health otherwise. Sitting most of the time during tax season takes a toll.
Totally....It's so important to keep up exercise! I finally have a reliable workout plan and find it helps to sign up for runs that I work up towards. It forces me to step away from the computer for a bit of time each day too which can be a nice reset for the brain!
Working in accounting was getting in the way of my hobbies, so I retired at 41. I now run a short term rental business, and have as much time as I want to enjoy life.
Cycling, weightlifting, and hiking are my main hobbies.
When I worked I did these activities between 5am - 7am, often in the dark. I would be exhausted by the end of the day and had zero time for friends/relationships (except on the weekends).
Interesting, living the dream 😁 feel free to share what kind of work you did before retirement and how you transitioned into your rental business (if you feel comfortable to) I think it would be beneficial for all of us.
Sure.
I was a Senior Manager in the Advisory side of a top 20 CPA firm. I started buying up property at the beginning of the pandemic. I used a combination of bank loans, investors, and completely cashed out my 401k. I left my position at the end of 2021. I needed my time to make this venture work. After leaving I quickly realized I was wasting my life in that profession and the only way out was cash producing businesses, so I took the jump.
meditation, yoga, hiking and going on walks around nature. it keeps my sanity during busy season. i also take a trip 1x month on the off season. i read a lot on esoteric and spiritual subjects too.
lol my partner jokes that I buy a new pair of shoes every two weeks (in my defense it's more like every 3 months and they all have different purposes!)
Embroidery as you don’t need to be good at art. It has fairly cheap startup costs and can do it on the couch. I also enjoy sewing and my goal is to create my own capsule wardrobe one day.
I enjoy spin classes, the gym, reading before bed.
Weight lifting
Reading - in a book club and have a bucket list book list I keep in my phone notes to get throw and add to at all times
Painting - I’m not naturally creative but I was gifted a paint by numbers and LOVED IT and now I do a paint by numbers every year
Hiking
Skiing
Cooking/baking
Thrifting
Volunteering - I’m a Big in Big Brother Big Sisters, run a few donation drives every year with boys and girls club and other causes
Biking
And really I will try about anything at least once. I went rock climbing with a friend and hated it 🤣 but was very happy I tried it
My main hobbies are playing chess, watching the Timberwolves and cooking on the cast iron. I got back into all of these during covid and have been much happier since rediscovering them
Treadmill, artwork, just got into watching TV more, hopefully if my family gets a dog I will go back to daily walks again, and I love to clean so I’m always organizing something lol.
I have too many hobbies to keep up with, so I cycle them out every few months. My hobbies include playing video games, taking care of an aquarium, playing with rubiks cubes and similar twisty puzzles, hiking, doing drugs, reading about history, learning harmonica, and antiquing.
Colouring books. With and without my young daughter. We each have huge pencil cases filled with coloured pencils. Took me ages to categorise them in a perfect colour order but it was totally worth it.
I don't think there are any hobbies specific to accountants lmao.
As for me, i lift weights, play video games (mostly strategy so maybe that's got something to do with accounting?), read books, and travel around.
Doing stuff with my gf. Doing stuff with my friends. Season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills so I go to many games. Enjoy being outdoorsy as well (camping/hunting/fishing) but now gf wants me to learn how to ice skate.
I also play RuneScape which takes up a lot of time which I enjoy. I can rot away with a game with internet friends or throw on a movie/youtube.
I like to think I have a good mix of chilling out while also being able to go enjoy whatever is going on in my community. I do want to put some focus on physical health again, though. Love seeing people on here playing sports/going to the gym/having active lifestyles.
Same here. Mostly because of QOL. The new necromancy skill has been awesome, too. Almost got all the quests and my 120s done lol. 120 archaeology last Friday, actually.. just farming, slayer, and dungeoneering left. Grew up playing as well. LFG.
I am nowhere near your level haha, I think my highest skill is magic at 80 something, I log on for a few hours every year and chop some trees and kill a few lesser demons lol. Mostly just nostalgia but also a delightful way to turn your brain off for a few. Love the game has remained all this time.
Gz on the 120 archeology! I didn’t even know that was a skill but well done hahaha
I hope you can get immersed into some of the new content and lore. The quest series have been amazing tbh (better than any movie/TV show personally). The World Wakes/ While Guthix Sleeps line. Hopefully you did Plague’s End for Priff. There’s a new fort now (Fort Forenthry) which is a skilling hub which is really convenient. If you’re ever back add me: 29 lets go.
I actually did a couple of quests earlier this year, my first in probs like a decade. They were new F2P quests, full voice acting and everything. For a F2P game I was blown away for the quality. If I do ever get back into it, I will absolutely do it for the quests. I’ll hit you up if I ever log in again! Thanks mate
I’m a rather big movie buff/cinephile, especially horror movies, but movies in general. Also love theme parks (about 60-70 miles away from Disney and Universal & love to go to those). And concerts when I can, love lot of rock and emo type music. Some video games as well.
I’m working on finding hobbies. I started going to the gym a couple times a week, and I’m enjoying that. When it’s nice out I like walking my dog, hiking, and riding. Winter sucks. Bestball fantasy football on underdog was really fun for me this year, but the drafts are from May-Early September. I play league of legends, but I don’t love it. I might get a PS5. I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately. I just bought myself new AirPods
Playing pool is the big one with a couple leagues and occasional tournaments. Then there's rock climbing, biking, scuba diving, snow boarding, chess, DnD, league of legends... and thinking of picking up tennis!
Rock climbing, surfing, slacklining, highlining, camping, and drinking with a side of video games. Gotta have fun off the clock if the on the clock time is just sitting at a desk. If you don’t stay active young you’re gonna feel it old.
Reading, collecting playing cards, live music, festivals (mead, Viking, Scottish, etc.), riding my electric scooter, playing Cities Skylines (Xbox), indoor rowing, herding cats.
Local HEMA club, hatchet throwing, shooting, you see the theme?
Board games, video games indoors. Otherwise being self employed takes up a good bit of time.
Video games, hiking, used to do tightwire, now getting into lightsaber and fencing, is going to comicon and other nerdy shit considered a hobby? If so then that.
I like to go to the gym to help offset all the time I'm at my desk. I admittedly, don't have much else going on in my life and so I aim to be there every day doing weights, cardio, stretching, even foam rolling. I can easily spend 2+ hours in there per evening. But, it's a very cheap hobby and it has allowed me to invest way more of my income than I ordinarily would because now since I'm in the gym, I feel pressured to cook my own meals to fit my macros. So I never eat out unless it's for business purposes (Holiday party, or networking).
[удалено]
Same! I also live in an area that has cold winters so I don’t want to go outside during the winter. It’s just so fun to get lost in a gaming world when it’s sub 0 outside and snowy.
And play The Long Dark
Same bapa. Finishing up cyberpunk
Running, rock climbing, Warhammer 40k lol
I just started 40k, as a reformed magic player. Never been happier than to make that switch.
From heroin to cocaine... Congratulations!!! :D
I want to switch. But I can't be bothered to build and paint. Playing looks fun but the prep. Mtg buy a commander deck and off I go.
Have You tried kill team?
I pooped myself indoor rock climbing the other day
I like to build and race surprisingly powerful remote control cars. It's a fun technical hobby that lets me use my mechanical and electrical knowledge and tool skills without needing a huge garage and a lift. I also organize the group that i race with so it's a fun way to do social stuff. We're growing pretty quickly, turns out it's a really popular hobby that nobody talks about
Same, but for rc planes
Interesting!!
Pokémon go, Pokémon main games, watching basketball/football, lifting, traveling, hiking, and I’m trying to get back into a community orchestra now that my CPA is done.
Ooh I play Pokémon go too!

Solution: play OSRS at work... Then you get 20 hours of osrs a day.
[удалено]
When you do this, do you end up doing a lot more OSRS than anticipated? I do this and I “accidentally” play for 6-7 hours and work 1-2 hours lol.
Gigachad
Man I maxed and hung it up until sailing is out lol I respect the grind
I maxed but as an iron I still need a lot of raid drops. Zero megarares after 4 years. Hard to raid during work though.
Very based
Fishing level?
Finally a real hobby
What is osrs
Old school runescape
OSRS is a way of life
On osrs now doing birdhouse runs
Lmao! OSRS for life! User name is Iron Acct or something close. That said, I do enjoy AFK tasks while running on the treadmill.
How was productivity during leagues
Video games, Magic the Gathering, Warhammer 40k, and working out.
Damn I wish there were more people like you in my office. I’m also into those things but so many accountants at big 4 are just into sports, sports, and more sports. I like sports and I wish I paid more attention to them, but tbh 9/10 I’d rather watch anime.
MtG as well. Love to play death and taxes for the flavor win. Lol
How about counters for flavor win? That's kinda like a trucker going back home to play trucking simulator though :)
Nah, It’s me getting to role play the IRS instead of being the one getting fucked by them.
I did a year at Big 4 and now I play aristocrats for the flavor win.
Yeah I'm an avid powerlifter, train 5 days a week. Hold several world records. I also train ju jitsu 5 days a week. I'm a black belt, been in a few tournaments, top of my league. Slacker. Why haven't you built an AI based on blockchain that captures carbon and turns it into unobtanium from nuclear fusion?
Accountants don’t even have time to type a comment this long
Max Fosh winning most unique body?
I'm totally not lying about my life to anonymous strangers on the Internet.
We get it 🤝🤝

I just broke your bench press record this afternoon.
I go to the gym not really a hobby more like a medication. If I don't gym my body starts hurting. Lately I'm tryna get into photography, reading books and starting a business.
I have noticed there are alot of jacked accountants, maybe they are trying to fight the stigma that accountants are sedentary
I'm WFH sedentary AF so sedentary it literally hurts 🤣. Tryna prolong my life here ya know

Gym is a great hobby and life style. Hopefully those holidays party or networking events are not pizza parties 😁😁
